Aramina stretched and wiped down the blade of her sword. She'd been practicing all up and down the docks, on and off little skiffs moored there getting a feel for deck fighting. She eyed her blade and sighed sliding it into it's sheath. She wished her mother would let practice with her energy sword, but considering there was only one on the planet it would be impossible to spar against anyone else since it would just destroy a regular sword. Not to mention it would be impossible to get replacement parts if it were to break.
Ah, well. She compensated with the touch of magic from her father, and she could do some interesting things with it. She rolled her shoulders and then caught a whiff of her jumpsuit. Very fishy. She wrinkled her nose and decided that a little hover above the docks would be in order. She stretched out the semi-transparent wings from her back and jumped into the air, with what to most people would be an almost electronic hum, gaining air and undoing her long black hair to let it loose in the breeze.

(I apparently put her first and middle names in the wrong places before. So its actually Claire Aurora Jones, but I'm fine with her being called Aurora. =33) Her feet hit the dock as she made her way toward the large clipper ship that had been docked there. She had recently been hired as a Boatswain, or the Petty Officer, aboard a flying ship called the The Maiden Voyage. It was a strange crew, mostly made of men. However, the captain was a female pirate named Eevie. Eevie thought that her men needed some structure and that Claire was the one to give it. Not that Claire minded, a job was a job, and she had definitely seen a worse crew before. However, that wasn't to say that she'd trust a pirate with her life, either. The main problem, though, was that the boat was still undergoing some repairs from the last mission they had. This meant that for the time she was jobless, and bored, until the repairs were made.
So here she was staring up at the large ship with the sun coming up over the horizon to paint it in gold and pink hues. The light was burning her eyes so she positioned her good paw to block out some of the glare. It was at that very moment that she saw a strange sight of a female flying over the water. Was that... transparent wings? Blinking, Claire couldn't help but wander what a strange little town this was with very strange characters. Pirates, fairies and now... angels?

Sorry took so long. I was in Va when I got your tag, and RP responses are such a pain to do with a touch pad lol. Aramina took a deep breath and then felt a tingle in her spine, that made her feel like someone's eyes were on her. She twisted her head, and reached up a paw to catch long hair and keep it from her eyes. She scanned the docks, and tilted her head as she found the individual. Long brown hair, a curious set of two tails, and was that a mechanized arm of some sort? It was too hard to tell from up here, so there was only one thing to do.
Aramina twisted and dove towards the docks and landed lightly a few feet away from her observer. Her wings vanished and she deftly twisted up her hair and shoved her chopsticks back into it. It still looked messy, but at least it was out of her way.
"Hello." she said with a polite nod towards the other female. Her voice was pleasant and mellow, with a musical sounding lit. "I couldn't help but notice that you were noticing me, and now that I have, I must say you are definitely worth noticing yourself." she said with a playful smile. Aramina didn't feel that this was the place for dinner party pleasantries, and that she may as well get to the point. How the other female would feel about that was yet to be seen, but at least they could get down to business instead of dancing around the issue.

Claire watched the other female curiously but she didn't make a single movement from where she stood except to drop her paw back down from her face. She was strangely interested in the fact that the female could dismiss her wings so easily, it was a very interesting technique. Maybe she should think about making something similar to her own design sometime.
Upon the greeting, Claire nodded her head in recognition. Her lips quirked into a small smirk. Usually she would continue her stoic personality, but she figured since she wasn't technically on a job yet, she could have some fun. With her gold eyes scanning over the girl, she shifted her body weight. "Well... definitely not as interesting as you are, but thank you." Offering out her hand, "I'm Claire Aurora Jones, and you might you be?"Ugh, sorry this took so long Arge!

So'kay I know you're busy. :3 Aramina smiled back a little wider and took the offered hand. "Aramina Seraphium-Cross." she laughed a bit. "I don't know about that. I only have one or two tricks up my sleeve. I don't think any of them are all that impressive. You on the other hand look like you have stories that go along with your tricks." she quickly massaged the hand that Claire had shook with her other one. Sometimes she had to agree with her mother, that terrans should have other greeting customs besides hand shaking. Despite them being strong and resilient, hollow bones still had a huge downside when facing strong grips.
"So what brings you to such a lovely setting?" she asked waving a hand around. Although it did sound sarcastic, she didn't mean it that way. Despite all the noise and filthy conditions, Aramina did have to admit she did like being down by the water.

"You might be surprised." She stated, looking up for a moment. "The ability to fly can come in quite handy, especially aboard a ship, or in a combat." Looking to the side, she added, "Sometimes more handy than a mechanical arm, even." With a wry smile, she twitched the arm slightly, thinking. Finally giving up, she drew in a breath, "Its been quite a while since I've been working. My last job ended a few years back, so all my stories are old and dried up." Waving her good hand as if to say it didn't matter. "What's in the past is in the past." Though, she would add that her career ending was a story she didn't particularly like to talk about. However, she supposed it would make a decent story.
Moving her eyes back toward the girl, as if her mind was shifting out of her memories, "Ah, its a pleasure Miss Aramina." Looking back at the sky, she grimaced just a little at the question, "Pirates. Always pirates." This time she added a chuckle. "Usually, I'm use to fighting against pirates... but as luck would have it... I finally got a new job... and its working with them... Go figure." Turning her gaze to Aramina. "And you? Its not usual that I see such a beautiful lady this far toward the docks."

Aramina laughed. "Please, Aramina is fine, Mina if you must shorten it." she said with a smile. She glanced over her shoulder to where her wings should be and shrugged. "I suppose if you put it that way. I've never been on a ship really or real combat for that matter. I think my mother would have a panic attack not to mention my father if I was." she paused and considered. "I suppose it's would also be helpful that when they're not really there even when they're there. Wouldn't even have to worry about avoiding rigging or anything. They just pass through it all."
She glanced curiously at the arm. "I think it's quite fascinating. I didn't want to be rude, but I've been dying to ask if it's a prosthetic or just a sort of power gauntlet. I'm sorry, if you'd rather not talk about it, but I have an interest in delicate machinery like that." she then smiled at the other woman. "They may be old and dried up to you, but they'd be new and fresh for me. Has to be better than listening to my parent's stories."
She nodded and chuckled a bit. "Pirates, despite everything that can go on with them, it sounds such a romantic notion." she blushed slightly and then waved a hand. "Oh, please, I'm not that beautiful." although she did have to admit she enjoyed the compliment. "You're not so bad yourself, you know." she said. "As for what I'm doing." She patted the sword at her side. "Practicing."

"Mina..." Claire considers for a moment, a finger on her chin, and then slowly nods. "If you don't mind.. I think I will call you that. I've always liked that name." Smirking slightly, "Honestly, I believe that everyone should experience a battle in their lifetime, even if its just a practice battle. You can learn a lot about yourself in the heat of the moment that you wouldn't otherwise learn. Of course, when you're fighting for your own life is when you really learn who you are." Drifting in thought, she let out a breath and looked at her mechanical arm. "Its a prosthetic." She stated dryly. "It was one of those such moments when I lost it." Twitching a little uncomfortably, "Some pirates had boarded our ship and was intent on pillaging everything and taking no prisoners... I was one of the few that got out alive." She winced at the memory before shaking it away. "Pirates... it isn't always romantic.. Some of it is downright awful. Thankfully though, this captain I'm going to be working for doesn't seem all that bad, though time will tell."
Looking her over, she let out a soft chuckle and nodded. "So I see! I'm not as well versed in swords as I am guns, though I do know a little. It is always good though to see others practicing discipline and craft. One should know how to defend oneself, always." Grinning, she shifted her weight to her other leg. "Now, I don't think that's quite true.. I'm too.. gruff sometimes to be all that good looking. You are certainly much better looking." Moves some of her own hair out of her eyes and behind her ears.

Aramina shrugged. "I don't. It gets so tiresome getting by your full name all the time. I find it a little restraining, like your never allowed to loosen up."
She nodded. "I think it's because both of them have been in battles before. My mother has seen some ground combat, not to mention space battles. I think she's more than tired of fighting. My father was genetically engineered to fight so...I can see the reason why they don't want to see their children in combat."
She listened to Claire's story and frowned. "I'm sorry, that sounds awful. I hope this new captain works out for you though."
At the mention of guns she reached down and extracted an odd looking pistol from her under her pant leg. "Oh, I can shoot too, I just like swords more. It's actually very traditional among my mother's race to fence. It was the nobles way of taking care of business." she put the pistol back and giggled a bit. "Oh but gruff can be rather fetching as well. I think you're ruggedly good looking and that's just as good if not better than being a dainty princess, which I am technically, but I don't have to like it." she smiled mischievously. "Long shot I know, but perhaps would you like to get something to eat with me? Or maybe just a beer? I know a good little place not far from here. You probably know it."

Claire couldn't help but nod, "Yes, sometimes it can definitely be tiresome going by your full name. Though, I'm more use to people calling me Jones than Claire. Ahhh... well... I guess I understand in a way, I just still believe that all children should be taught how to defend themselves and learn how to fight." She glanced at her and the weapons. "Which, it looks like they at least taught you how to do."
Her brow raised, she definitely hadn't expected to hear that. "You're royalty?" She pushed one of her braids off her shoulder. It swung around to her back, thudding against it. "From this world? Or another?" Looking around, she smirked slightly. "And I would ask where your guards are, but if you're confident enough to walk around without any, I must say your parents must have definitely done a good job teaching you how to protect yourself! Kudos to them."
Another smirk graced her lips, and she paused, "Is that a date? I must admit, I'm not use to someone asking me out." Her head gave a quick nod. "Sure. I could use some entertainment and I don't have any work right now. Plus, its always nice to go with such a beautiful lady."

"I suppose that's a hazard of the occupation. Makes you fit in, one of the boys, well if you're working with a predominately male crew anyway." she smiled in a way that indicated that her parents had had more than one headache when it came to "discussions" about weapons training. "I rather insisted upon it. Especially when 'normal' childhood activities bored me to tears. So mother caved and taught me to shoot, her style of swordplay, and a little hand to hand."
"Another, and only very technically, as my mother's homeworld is either an asteroid belt or completely uninhabitable. As such she's the only living member of the royal family, and any other survivors are more than likely pirates, smugglers, mercs, you get the picture." she laughed. "I don't know what I'd do with them, besides they'd be bored out of their minds. There's very little on Terra that is dangerous to me, and I hold absolutely no value as a hostage, as my family has no wealth to speak of." she spread her hands in a "what can you do" motion. "I am the definition of a Booby Prize." she smiled and shrugged.
"It could be if you wanted." an almost predatory smile crept across her face. "I've never asked anyone out before, so it's a whole new experience for me as well. If you prefer we could call it an interview? One that just happens to involve drinks, which I'm sure is at least ten times better than one without." she motioned and started to walk down the docks with a confident sway. She blushed slightly and refrained from any of the many coy flirty hand gestures that came to mind. "Oh please, now I just think you're trying to see if you'll get a reaction out of me." she smirked in a pleased sort of way and flicked her tail idly towards the other female.

"Well, you definitely have a good head on your shoulders then!" She stated with a grin. "I can't imagine wanting to stay idle for too long. I guess you could say that I wasn't an average child either and pissed off my instructors a time or two myself." Her head shifted in a nod as she glanced around the docks, noting a deckhand or two moving things about. "You might be surprised at the amount of people who would still use a status, even if one from an uninhabitable planet, to get what they wanted. There are no small amount of thieves.. from any world. That's something they all have in common." Her voice was in a hushed tone while watching some of the men over her shoulders. "So again, its always good to know how to defend yourself."
To the statement, a smirk lifted her lips and she couldn't help herself from watching as Aramina walked down the pier. "And if I am? Is that completely horrible?" She was, of course, playing. This girl could easily be entertaining, and she had to see where it went.

Aramina laughed. "I can see that. You looked like someone who'd crossed a line or two in her day. I'm afraid no matter how I try I can't seem to cross as many as I'd like. Of course...I can't ever decide which I actually want to cross." she shrugged.
Her eyes darted around among the individuals on the dock. "They could try." she smiled. "They might find some, but I don't think they'd find every weapon I have on me, and improvisation is a skill of mine. Helps I have a nifty little trick that they wouldn't know about and have no way to take away from me."
She went up the steps and turned towards what would looked like a nicer area of the dock. "Not at all. I just don't want to seem vain and that all I'm interested in is praise. I hate being chalked up to being one of Those girls. I can and have participated in battles of wit and charm. They're just beyond tedious and exhausting. Let me get in some old clothes with a weapon and I'm much happier." she motioned towards a building that was just ahead of them. "And there's our destination ahead. First rounds on me."
