General Q&A Are there pet ownership limits for this shop? No! There is no limit on the number of pets you can own. Currently, there is also no limit on the total number of pets you can receive monthly, the number of pets you can receive from freebies, or the number of pets you can receive from customs each month. However, each user may only receive one pet from each freebie event, contest, or raffle. A user may receive multiple custom pets per month, but no more than 1 custom slot per colorist per month.
Is there an RP requirement for this shop? No, roleplay is not required. However, roleplaying will grant your characters perks. These perks are under construction, but will likely include the option of adding on non-stock (custom) edits, up to 10% increase in raffle tickets, extra breedings, the possibility of additional offspring, and so on.
Does this shop have mule restrictions? Currently, no. This may be changed in the future if colorists cannot keep up with demand or if ownership drama occurs...
How many pet stages? There are 4 possible stages. The first stage is a unisex ornament (a pre-birth stage that almost never has lineart or effect edits, only custom colors). The second is the foal stage, which has separate lineart sets for males and females, and only has some of the adult-stage edits (major edits such as altered body structure, wings, etc). The third is the adult stage, which also has different lineart sets for males and females, and this is generally considered the "final' stage that lasts indefinitely. The fourth is the Ascended stage.
What is Ascension and how do I get it? Ascension is something like godhood. It can be obtained through extensive roleplay and character development, or, rarely, through special shop events. Ascended pets have breeding bonuses: normal adult x adult breedings produce 2-3 offspring, Ascended x adult breedings produce 3-4 offspring, and Ascended x Ascended breedings produce 4-5 offspring.
Are there any naming restrictions? Nope!
Is co-owning permitted? Yes!
How many people can co-own a pet? If the pet is obtained from a breeding, raffle, flaffle/flatsale, giveaway, or customs, up to 2 people may co-own the pet. If from a bribe or auction, up to 3 people may co-own.
Can twins exist? Yes; however, they must noticeably be twins, so their body structure must be very similar, even for fraternal twins (i.e. the twins must be the same breed or breed mix). They can be same-sex or opposite sex and MUST be characterized by one of the following: (1) an identical color scheme/palette, with different item edits/hairstyles, (2) a very similar color scheme/palette, with identical item and/or hair edits, (3) an "opposite" theme (ex. white with blue eyes vs. black with red eyes) with similar edits. These restrictions are in place because a person entering customs for a pair of twins would receive 2 pets if (s)he chooses not to give away one of the twins as a gift.
Can triplets (quadruplets, quintuplets, etc...) exist? Not at this time.
What is the refund policy? Refunds are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and generally only made in special circumstances. Situations that do NOT qualify for a refund include: pet obtained without payment (ex. it was a gift from another user, from a contest, from a giveaway, free raffle), not winning a pet from a raffle after buying raffle tickets (a raffle IS a lottery), leaving Gaia (if you're leaving, why request a refund?), etc. Keep in mind that if your refund request is accepted and you are refunded, the pet(s) you sought a refund for is no longer yours; ownership of the pet will transfer back to the shop.
Can I sell or resell my pet? No. Any and all pet sales must be done through the shop, by the shop staff. While you may have purchased (or been gifted) the pet and the individual piece of artwork that appears on the certification, the art template and shop concepts still belong to the shop, and unless the pet was a custom, it was designed by a shop colorist. The underlying concepts and intellectual property are part of the shop itself, so any and all sales must be made by the shop itself. You may keep the pet, return it to the shop, or give it away (ex. as a gift, through a contest or free raffle).

Breeding Q&A How often do breedings occur? This is dependent on the number of colorists working at the shop. The system currently in place encourages at least 1 breeding slot per month per colorist. This may be changed in the future: systems considered include 3-5 breeding slots per colorist every 3-4 months, or 6-8 breeding slots per colorist every 6 months, or 12-15 breeding slots per colorist per year (slots open at colorist's discretion). A minimum of 12 breeding slots will be available each year. There is no maximum or limit. Maximum possible output is dependent on the number of active colorists.
Are breedings for adults only? Yes. Foals cannot breed. All adults (including chimeras and those who have Ascended) can breed.
Can same-sex couples breed? Sort of. Same-sex couples have a more difficult time conceiving due to biological limits, so these couples will only be able to "officially" breed through shop event breedings or a surrogate (this will count as a breeding for the surrogate and the "genetically-invested" same-sex partner, but will not use up a breeding slot of the partner who is not involved in, uh, genetic sharing). "Unofficial" offspring can be made through mock-breedings, bribes, or customs.
...So it's sex, not magic? ...Yeah. I mean. The adult males have p***s-bumps. That happen to be clearly visible. And bulgy. Because horses.
How many offspring result from each breeding? Each breeding results in at least 2 offspring, with a maximum of 5 for Ascended x Ascended breedings.
How many offspring can I keep from each breeding? This is dependent on the number of offspring that result, and on the owner(s) of the offspring. If one person owns BOTH of the breeding individuals, (s)he may keep at most 1 of the offspring if the breeding results in 2 offspring. If one person owns BOTH of the breeding individuals, (s)he may keep at most 2 of the offspring if the breeding results in 3 or more offspring. If different people own the breeding individuals, each owner may keep no more than 1 of the offspring if the breeding results in 2-3 offspring. If different people own the breeding individuals, each owner may keep no more than 2 of the offspring if the breeding results in 4 or more offspring. This may be changed in the future.
Is there a breeding limit? Yes, there currently is a breeding limit due to multiple-offspring-ownership and allowance of inbreeding. Each individual has a maximum of 3 breedings; individuals who Ascend gain an extra breeding for a maximum of 4. (This may be changed in the future based on the wishes of the shop clientele: if the majority of clients prefer unlimited breedings, that will be considered after discussion with all shop staff. Additional "unofficial" offspring can be obtained through customs (only if the parents do not have chimeric traits), mock-breedings, and bribes.
Incest? Nnnn... Game of Thrones un-taboo'd this topic, but no incest here.
What about inbreeding? An individual CANNOT breed with a: parent, sibling, aunt/uncle, grandparent, first cousin, niece/nephew, etc. There would need to be at least 3 degrees of separation (generationally or by cousins). Like the Russian royals with their hemophilia, or cheetahs.
Will unique lines (poses) be passed down to offspring? No -- unique poses)will not be made for the offspring foal stages, and the unique parent lineset(s) will not be passed down to offspring adult stages, either. Unique lines can only be obtained through Ascension or bribes. Other edits and mutations will still be passed down -- just not the one-of-a-kind pose.
Will offspring have edits (or colors) identical to those of the parents? Not necessarily. Edits such as items or hairstyles will be similar to those of the parents and will carry on the same theme, but will probably be variations. For example, let's pretend we have a breeding couple; one parent is blue-eyed and has a wreath of blood-red roses around his neck, while the other has a pure white lily by her ear and golden eyes. The offspring can have a wreath of lilies OR roses around the neck, and/or lilies OR roses by the ear, and/or lilies OR roses in the mane and tail. Or the offspring can have a mix of roses and lilies. The roses/lilies may be blood-red like the father's, pure white like the mother's, darker red than the father's, some shade of pink/pale red, some gray shade darker than the mother's, a mix of red/white/pink, or even blue (father's eyes), yellow (mother's eyes), or green-tinted (combination of father's and mother's eye color), etc. The colorist will choose what (s)he thinks is best.
What about throwbacks? They exist! However, they are not guaranteed, and throwbacks are added to offspring at the discretion of the colorist.
