THE SUN! Ruthie stretched as she stepped onto the sidewalk--her violet hair catching its light, and her eyes shutting as she yawned. She spent the day playing Tetris on her laptop like a good little gamer (It helps critical thinking, she justified, And that's a given if I'm to become a professor or critic or lawyer.) But the sun! She loved the sun--missed it after staring at the purple and yellow blocks shifting across her screen; loved how it dappled onto the sidewalk and across her skin.
To the park, she thought and started down the street. She imagined a tune coalescing with her steps, which eased her. Her parents called almost every evening to ensure she carried a pocket knife or pepper spray, and certainly, Ruthie was concerned about the violence, but she was not nearly as paranoid as her mother who carried a hammer in her purse. Besides, she wanted more information about these terrorists and heroes--like if they ran around in costumes as the news suggested or just did it once in a blue moon--like some kind of hazing or joke ritual. Maybe they wanted to attract attention to their cause?
She shook her head. Who were these heroes? Did they really care about civilians or did they only desire to stop the opposing force? Where did they get those fabulous capes?
Maybe I can be a hero, she thought. The sunlight dimmed as she entered the park. She leaned against one of the maples, and watched sky. They looked fresh and green like her parents' lawn, like spring, like summer, and she slid to the ground. She pulled her notebook from her messenger bag--green like the leaves, green like summer--and uncapped the pen in her pocket. Mom and Dad wouldn't like that.
Still, she loved them for canoeing with her when she vacationed in the suburbs and staying up late watching sitcoms with her and cleaning her room while she stayed at DCU. Sometimes she sent them emails with GIFs of cats in birthday hats, and they responded with GIFs of cake-eating poodles (they loved dogs so much more). She closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the maple. She appreciated their concern, but they couldn't expect her to go through life without helping anyone.
The thought of living without helping anyone made her feel heavy.
Ugh, Ruthie, she thought, You really have to shake off this melancholy, and you really have to write.
But Ruthie, she retorted, You haven't written anything this entire summer, so why would today be different?Orangeish Sherbert Hey there! Let's rock and roll!

“It should be somewhere up ahead! I know it’s around here somewhere close, Lenka. Keep looking and keep on your guard.”
The cat perched on top of the Chibi Senshi’s head was holding on the best she could, face contorted into a worried sort of grimace…if that was possible for a cat. “Acubens, you do the same. This is a pretty powerful youma, and I’m not sure that Lenka will be able to take it alone. So I’m very glad that you’re here.”
Lenka frowned, giving a pout. “Of course I’d be able to take it alone, Julienne. Don’t say something like that, I’m not weak, and you know it. Now take back what you said or no salmon for dinner tonight…or ever, for that matter…”
The cat gave a sad sort of meow, burrowing into Lenka’s burgundy hair. “That’s not even a fair threat…”
Giving a little laugh, Lenka turned her head to look at Acubens, grinning at the older senshi. “It’s a good thing we came out today, isn’t it? I’m also really glad there aren’t any civilians around right now…though…” She shrugged. “Normally there are. Who knows. Maybe they just all don’t like the outdoors.” She laughed a little, trying to clear the air of any misgivings about this youma that loomed somewhere ahead. It did feel strong…and she didn’t like that. Especially if her own cat said that she most likely wouldn’t have been able to handle it alone.
Sometimes it really sucked to be a chibi.

“It’s true,” Acubens huffed next to Lenka, trying not to dash a head and lose them both with her much longer legs. “You are stronger master, but you’re also twelve, so. There’s that, you know?” She grinned and winked, making light despite their dire situation. It was true, there was no sign of civilian life, but that didn’t mean that the reason was because the youma had taken everyone in the area out. Acubens shuddered and tried not to dwell on something like that. She’d already seen more than her fair share of death in her short years. She didn’t need to convince herself that more existed where she could not see. “Glad is sort of not the word I would use.” Maybe talking wasn’t the best plan right now, sprinting like they were towards the source of the chaotic aura. “Maybe… relieved only because we can help?” Yeah, talking was not the best plan right now, not with the burning in Acubens’ lungs. Julienne had said straight ahead and Acubens could feel it stronger and stronger with every step. She wasn’t honestly sure if even she could help – not that she was going to broadcast it to her partners. --- In fact the youma the three heroes were tracking had left a path of destruction in its wake. Any civilian in its path had either been crushed or eaten. A few unlucky ones were horrifically marred for the simple sin of existing. One grotesque and rotted tongue hung out from the gaping hole of its mouth, unobstructed by a lower jaw that had appeared to have been torn out. The muscle flopped and swung down its chest, making the flesh there bubble and burn. And spittle that escaped its decaying maw fizzled and melted whatever it landed on. Once or twice, the monster spewed its toxic saliva, severely burning poor civilians. The youma stood at nearly seven feet tall, humanoid in shape, though terribly mutated. One arm had been mutilated and mutated, creating a club, it’s fingers jutting out at crooked angles with nails sharpened to claws. It’s eyes looked as though it’s own had been removed, and in their place fishes eyes had been substituted. Bandages held sagging skin and ripped flesh together as it walked. But walked where? Why, towards that beautiful lone soul ahead of him. He was just about full, one more should do it. It grunted and spat, eyes staring blankly to the sides, relying instead on sound of his spittle melting its obstacles to move. So close. So very close to a full stomach. The youma crashed and hissed, gasping through its mutilated mouth as he approached the civilian, relishing the scream that would soon grace his scarred ears. For attacks, we will be rolling one six-sided dice! -applause applause-
- 1 and 2 constitute attacks that fail via evasion, bad aim, etc and result in no HP loss from either the youma or you. Int he case of Madea's attack, the youma didn't even notice the distraction - 3 is an average hit adn result in 5 HP loss from the youma. In the case of Madea, the youma notices the distraction, but is still aware of his surroundings. - 4 receives a counterattack of your choosing resulting in 5 HP loss from your character. In the case of Madea, the youma noticed the attack and broke the distraction by looking away. - 5 and 6 are significant hits resulting in 10 HP loss from the youma. Int he case of Madea, the youma is totally focused by the distraction.
Everyone can start rolling with their next posts.
Youma's Starting HP: 50 (This one's a huge baddie) Lenka's Starting HP: 40 Julienne's Starting HP: 25 Acubens' starting HP: 35 Madea's starting HP: 25
If your character runs out of HP, they faint, like in pokemon, though do not die. The Youma also no longer attacks them.

Roses are red. Violets are blue. Chocolate is sweet.
Cows go moo? She frowned at the cursive. Pippelidoo?
She sighed.
What smells like dung and carnage?
She heard a grunt and turned to find an almost-jawless, fizzling tongue-creature staring back. Her eyes widened. Her pupils shrank. Her mouth dropped into a ridiculously large frown.
"EEEEEEEE," she shrieked with the power of a thousand warrior goddesses and tossed her notebook at the monster's head. "GRAAAAAAAH."

There was a scream from up ahead and Julienne was off. The cat sprang from atop Lenka’s head and darted into the trees. The two senshi were moving quickly, and feeding into her lazy nature, but now was not the time to be lazy, and she found out that her four paws moved much faster than two human feet.
The cat made a loud meow that shifted into a hiss as her blue eyes fell upon the disgusting creature that was the youma. Quickly she extended her claws, jumping and landing on the youma, claws digging in deep. She seemed quite satisfied by this, giving a few more quick scratches before jumping down in front of the lone civilian.
But, it seemed that they wouldn’t have to do much protecting of this civilian, that was a good thing. Julienne could feel the shining power of her starseed, even amidst the fear in facing this utterly disgusting youma that was before them. “You’re a senshi! That’s wonderful.”
There was no time for quick explinations…there seemed to never be time for them. Why did this always happen in a dangerous setting? Couldn’t she just awaken someone in a nice quiet tranquil place for once?
Julienne jumped into the air, turning as she did so, a henshin pen falling to the ground before the civilian. “Take this, take it and help us fight, take it and say ‘Medea power, make up!’” The cat sat back for a moment, getting rather comfortable, then jumping up, remembering that Lenka and Acubens were still coming. Well, that was good. Three senshi would be sure to handle this monster. Plus, there was always her secret weapon. Even if it did drain her quite a bit. If it had to be done, it would be done.

Two things happened at once. First there was a scream, and before the scream ended it seemed Julienne had taken off. Just flown right off of her head and disappeared into the trees.
Lenka did not like that, not one little bit. She gave a cry of dismay and stepped up her running, trying to get to the person who was in trouble, and her cat…who must have been in trouble too. Julienne was too little…and hadn’t she just been saying that this youma was going to be crazy powerful? That she couldn’t handle it on her own? That LENKA HERSELF couldn’t handle it on her own?
The chibi skidded to a halt when she reached the area that was occupied by the youma, civilian and fat cat. But…what was that? Something glistening on the ground? A henshin pen? Oh boy. Was this civilian not a civilian at all…but another senshi?
No, no…this wasn’t good. Lenka couldn’t let this new senshi get hurt yet. Not yet. Not at all, if she could help herself.
She summoned her watermelon rind, chucking it hard at the youma. “Lenka Binding Boomarind!” She wanted it to halt. Wanted it to do something else. Wanted it to turn to a pile of dust, to be honest.

1. Talking cat appeared and protected her from the monster. 2. Cat said she was a Senshi? Weren't those the terrorists on the news? 3. Cat conjured a...pen? 4. Little girl in a watermelon dress summoned a rind and threw it at the monster.
WHAT.
Is this real life? she thought, picking up the pen. Then came the conspiracy theories. If I use this, will I become a terrorist? What if this is an elaborate plot to brainwash me into their faction? The cat implied I'm a Senshi already, but... If they were an effective terrorist organization, she figured they would use any rhetoric to recruit people to their cause.
Still.
They did distract the monster from her, and how dangerous could a terrorist organization be if they used watermelon rinds as weapons?
She had to admit the talking cat and child soldier threw her off though.
"Okay." she said to Fluffy Cat. "But I don't like it. This is just a thank-you for saving me, okay? Not because I believe in any of the stuff."
If this is my last moment as a normal college student, she thought, at least it makes a good story.
"Medea power, make-up!" She lifted the pen into the air. Goodbye.
There came a flash of sparkling gold and pink, and then:

Acubens busted out of the brush not long after Julienne and Lenka did. And she did so just in time to see the little cat and her master lay the very literal beat down on this monster. She laughed out loud, cheering on her two partners and readying herself for her own attack. As long as the monster was bound, she might as well catch it off balance and try and dust it as soon and as efficiently as possible, right? She readied herself, crouching as though she were waiting at the starting line. Her lips had only just formed her attack name when the civilian that she hadn’t even seen turned out not to be a civilian at all.
Acubens’ voice cracked somewhere in the middle of “velociraptor” and she nearly fell over. She’d never seen another senshi awaken. Well, granted, Acubens hadn’t really SEEN her until she was Sailor Madea, but the point stood. It was odd having thist terribly weak point of light show up on her radar. And he knew it was brand new, too. Something about the way it tickled her told her yes. This is just a baby.
“Alright hunny,” Acubens called out, taking her starting position again.
“You’re gonna want to stand back for a minute. This is gonna be a tough one!”
Acubens only had a few more moments before Lenka’s attack wore off. She’d need to make this hit count.
“Velociraptor Agility!”

He growled and spat and hissed as he lay, struggling for a moment to break free of his bindings. And he did, with a resounding crack. The youma shook itself off, struggling just slightly to his feet. He hadn’t really been expecting a fight. Much less one this difficult. He was by no means a weak youma, though not Greater as some were. But he liked to think he could at least hold his own in a fight agains children. It took a moment to register the new, more delectable scent wafting through the air. So, he’d found an unawakened senshi? Oh yes. She was going to be delicious. But first thing was to take care of those disgusting little things who dared impede him. It was bad enough that a child had bound him, but here was this impetuous girl body slamming him. His hissed at the purple skirted warrior, malice dripping from his exposed tongue and sunken eyes. He’d eat her first, in front of her friends, and then he’d eat the child. And when the new senshi knew exactly what she was up against, he’d eat her too. The cat he’d leave alone. The fur got caught in his teeth and annoyed him. With a loud grunt, the youma swung his enormous, clawed hand at Acubens.

Julienne had to admit that she was very pleased that the senshi had managed to awaken so easily. And she was quite pretty too! A lovely senshi in the midst of a not so lovely battle.
She moved to jump at the youma again, hoping that with it being distracted with Acubens she would have a chance to maybe scratch out an eye or even bite at an ear.
The guardian cat leapt up, and instead of landing on the youma to do some more crazy damage, off she sailed, over the creature only to land on its other side, giving a meow of frustration. How could she have missed that landing so badly? And in front of so many senshi too. It was a disgrace.
Oh well. She would have other chances.

Lenka looked at the new senshi somewhat curiously for a moment, before giving a small “Hello!”, then turned back to the youma, laughing as it fell to the ground. They would beat this thing, and it would be a piece of cake. “Come on, guys! This is nothing! We can turn this stupid thing into dust with our eyes closed!”
And she did so. Lenka closed her eyes and ran up to the youma, jumping on top of it and doing a little bit of a dance, laughing. A powerful youma was no way to walk into the sesnhi life, and she really didn’t want this new girl to be scared! It was bad enough fighting a weak youma when you were first awakened…but. But this new girl had a huge advantage, and that advantage was clearly the great and powerful Lenka. For here she was. She who dances on youma.
Hopping off of the disgusting creature, Lenka gave a little bow at Medea. “Eternal Chibi Lenka here to help you out! You can help too, you’re a senshi now! You have magic and strength, and you’ll be able to help us kill this youma!”
She loved helping the new senshi. Loved it so much.

As followed the purple-skirted girl's orders and hid behind the tree, Medea's eyes sparkled with delight. She could help?! That was AWESOME. Could she summon watermelons too? What could she do to save herself? Not that...she liked these terrorists or anything. No. They were TERRORISTS. THEY TERRORIZED. BAD MEDEA BAD.
She couldn't help but giggle at Lenka's dance though.
Maybe they weren't so bad.
NO. THEY WERE BAD.
But...they saved her from this...youma?
She shook her head. Why were they using kids anyway? That seemed a little unethical. She looked at the cat.
"FLUFFY CAT. HOW CAN I HELP?"

Acubens bounced essentially uselessly off the side of the youma, landing on the ground with an audible "oof!" It was her pride that was the most bruised, really. Even if it was lucky that she'd fallen just then, escaping, if only barely, the youma's great clubbed hands as they came soaring towards her. She fell backwards as the breeze from his swing listed her hair slightly, trying to get over the shock of nearly dying. Somewhere off to the left of her, Lenka landed blow after devastating blow and still laughed about it.
Meanwhile Acubens just laid there for a moment, panting so hard her lungs lit on fire. Okay. So, that wasn’t really all that fair. Lenka was like… 11 or some s**t. And still doing better than Acubens. Oh great. She was dancing. Acubens huffed and held out her arms as if to say “I don’t even know what to do anymore.” It took her a solid fifteen seconds or so to gather herself enough to attack again. His eyes looked a little buggy. Maybe she could gouge them out and blind him. It was worth a try, right?
Two sticks in hand, Acubens charged the youma, plunging them deep into his eyes. With a triumphant laugh, Acubens disengaged, leaving the sticks embedded in his skull like trophies. This was s decidedly better blow than before, and it buttressed her confidence.
"Super Sailor Acubens, of Velociraptors" she chimed after Lenka, "At your service!"
