Leora was browsing a second hand store, looking for valuable trinkets others would mistakenly shrug off as old trash. You would be surprised how often it happened. This particular store was higher end, most of the things in here were of good quality. The cloths, some were brand new, or maybe only worn once or twice. Nothing that you would find at like a Walmart or anything like that. It must be close to a higher end neighborhood, she though. There were some truly nice things, and had even found a few dresses that would be completely love, and to her own style with a few minor alterations.
She rifled through a few of the racks. It was early enough in the morning that there few people around, a yawning front clerk who was content to sit by the register and watch the little tv that was on the wall, and a stock boy who she was fairly certain was taking a nap in one of the chairs in the furniture section.
That was just fine with her anyway, she didnt particularly like interacting with people. At least not forced interactions. They were always uncomfortable, and somehow, people had this way of looking down at you for browsing a second hand store, even if they themselves worked there.
So Leora reveled in the semi-solitude of a near empty shop, and browsed through an isle that contained handle holders and other nick-knacks, a row of mens clothing to her back. Who knows, maybe she would find a hidden gem in the depths of these cluttered shelves.

It was charity for him to pay; it was good for him to pay, and so generally, Ever didn't like to steal from the second hand shops. Sometimes, though, there was little he could do about it; especially when he had no job, no prospects, and was tired of asking Zed for cash to take care of the small things. Besides. In uniform, it was so easy that it almost seemed a crime not to. So. It was Ilmenite who was settled in the back of the shop, today, absently turning a shirt over in his fingers. Of all the places he could be, he didn't look so out of place here, in his military style clothing. People shopped in -- and for -- worse.

Leora payed no mind to the young man who was also in the shop, to engrossed in the task at hand. Flipping through item after item, assessing their potential and disregarding things she couldn't use in a simple glance. She plucked on shirt out, the shirt itself hideous but the material lovely, hooking the hanger crosswise like someone marking the page in a book before moving on down the isle.
Flip, disregard, Flip, disregard, flip flip flip. It went on like this untill she was about half way through an isle, when something caught her attention. It wasn't that it was terribly out of place in this shop, of a surety there were dozens of old things here, some lovely, some used almost beyond value.... But there was a small, Lacey stuffed bear. Nestled like a little white snowflake ontop of a stack of combat boots, socks, belts, and other things that wouldn't fit on hangers, so had just been dumped in bins between the rows.
With a tilt of her head, Leora gazed at it with a critical eye. It was cute. Leaving the shirts alone for a minute, Leora leaned a little closer, not quite touching the teddy bear, just eying it curiously. It almost looked like a legitimate antique, instead of a simple used children's toy. More then that, the little item was terribly alluring, as if when she closed her eyes she could almost see it shining in the darkness behind her lids.

A spark. Leora would feel a spark as she didn't-quite touch the teddy bear and Ilmenite -- just on the other side of a stack of boxes, behind the children's books and old blankets -- felt it as well. It turned his head, puzzled, like the very hint of an order signature at the edge of his vision, and in a blink, he was standing beside the girl. Teleportation probably wasn't a part of her every day life, the way it was in his. Having a strange man in a long coat and a crooked hat would be more alarming than anything else. The surprise would be enough to take her from almost touching to touching, and the second she did, that spark would swell in his mind. Without really understanding why he was doing it, Ilmenite reached out, a hand through her chest, to curl his fingers around her starseed. Then he'd understand. Order was pulling on the girl. Order wanted to take the girl. Damned if he'd let that happen. He immediately slapped a hand over her mouth to keep her from calling out as the pain of corruption started pouring into her starseed.

It all happened so fast that her brain just refused to process what was happening. Never mind that what was happening was impossible.
Literally in the blink of an eye, there was a man behind her, as if he had just appeared out of thin air. She had jumped, her hand brushing against the plush softness of the teddy bear, filling her with a wonderful warmth.
And then suddenly, the mans hand was inside her chest. Not touching her, but gone, to the wrist, into the carriage of her body, filling her with excruciating pain. It hurt worse then anything she had ever felt in her whole life. Stitches, Broken bones of childhood, a car accident that had left her bruised and battered, all of it was pale in comparison to the vivid red wash of pain that filled her now.
She couldn't even scream, his hand clamped over her mouth. She tried, oh she really tried, but all that came out was a Mufffled " MMMM " That ended in a whimper, her back arched and her hands now clamped onto the arm that disappeared into her body.
Nothing could hurt this bad and not kill you, and she wouldn't even know what had really happened. Just a momentary madness, pain, and then she would be gone. She was going to die, and that would be that.
As Ilmenite poured corruption into her starseed, the teddybear started to change. It was as if someone was pouring color onto it, it seeping and oozeing down the pristine whiteness of the toy. Color slowly leached across it, turning it a dusky brown and tan, its glassy white button eyes turning a glossy black.

It wouldn't be only the bear that changed, though. When the pain finally subsided -- after what felt like an eternity -- she'd be different as well, gone from her usual sweet colors to black on black. That was superficial; that was the uniform. The important change would be the surge of power through her, the new strength in her body. Unexpected. Ilmenite was prepared for backlash. After he was done, he kept a hand across her mouth and watched her with serious, dark eyes, ready for any little movement. He didn't want to get slapped. Been there, done that. "...it hurt. I know. But it was worth it." This was offered in a hushed whisper, so as not to bring the cashier over to check on them. "Can you be quiet if I take my hand away? Just nod."

When the pain finally subsided, a shiver ran through her body and she relaxed slightly, though her hands still gripped at his sleeve, fingertips still digging into his arm. Pink eyes were wide and tear filled, because yeah, that freakin' hurt.
She didn't even realize the change in outfit yet, but she felt overenergised. Like a battery left on a charger to long. So much more then her normal self it was disturbing. She was more then a little scared, but as the wheels in her brain started to turn again, free of the red haze, he spoke.
She trembled a little bit, but she nodded. She still wasn't completely convinced he was going to murder horribly behind the stand of used t-shirts. She wasn't sure what he had done to her, but it certainly wasnt a normal thing that had happened.
She was fairly certain normal had just cartwheeled out of the building when Mr. Greenjacket started teleporting.

This wasn't how Ilmenite liked to find his new recruits. Slowly, he peeled his hand away from the girl's mouth, his head tilted to the side and expression -- thoughtful. Curious. Considering the teddy bear that hung from her hand. In truth, he didn't really understand fully what had happened himself. Only that he'd extinguished a spark of Order. So it must have been right. "Apologies, I don't forcibly recruit." He didn't really sound that sorry, though. His eyes flicked away, to make sure no one was approaching. "We should talk somewhere quieter. Get something to eat, maybe?" Ice cream would always counter out pain.

Leora, now Teallite, didn't made a sound as he let go of her mouth, still watching him with to wide eyes. In fact she was still gripping his sleeve, teddy bear forgotten on the shelf.
She quivered a little, as he turned his eyes away. He was talking to her, but the words fell on hearing ears.
get something to eat- and she bolted, as if the word - maybe were a starting gun and she was a horse out of the gate.

Behind her there was a breath, the start of a sigh -- Which finished in front of her again, Ilmenite's expression very mild as he teleported into her path, catching her before she could get one or two steps. "...We should definitely talk. Ice cream?"

Leora's sudden burst of speed was startling, she had never moved so fast in her life. She didn't know it was because of the power of chaos that Ilmenite has just granted her. Of course, it was probably the fact that she only got a grand two steps before Ilmenite was suddenly in front of her again.
Due to her sudden new found speed, and him proving that he indeed COULD teleport, she ran right into him, due to height difference smacking right into his chest with a little "oomph"
She tilted her head up and looked at him, taking a step back.
" Right... Ice cream... " She sounded a little dazed.
Yeah, she must have hit her head or something.

There as a beat -- a pause for Ilmenite to take in the area around them and find out they were safe -- and then the green leather coat, the plaid and chains melted away to something more appropriate for their surroundings. Battered canvas cat. Battered pants. Battered shoes. The tousled mess of his hair captured under a knit skull cap. All in all, he looked less intimidating like this. Maybe it would help. "You just change back into your other outfit and we can go somewhere to talk." He beckoned for her to do it, light on his toes still, in case she made an effort to run for it. "It's as simple as thinking it, to do it."

Teallite watched as his outfit bled into something that was much more normal to the eye. A little bit scruffy and worn, but otherwise just an every day normal guy. Someone she could have walked by a thousand times on the street and never bat an eye at. Which was a scary though considering she was very very aware that whoever the hell he was he was certainly not normal.
Me motioned for her to do the same. Easy he had said, so she simply willed herself to be in her normal clothing, and suddenly she was. The black outfit with its white lace suddenly replaced once again by the sugary pastels and precariously high, high-heels, the bear that started it all disappearing.
She looked down at herself, as if confirming that it had worked, before turning her still a little to wide-eyes back up to ever, her hand to gently touch the exposed skin that had just moments before had a hand plunged into.
" Ooookay... So... " The normally articulate Leora seemed to be at a loss of words, and just sort of looked at ever expectantly.

"Ice cream." He'd catch her around the shoulders, peering past her toward the front desk, where the check out girl was decisively missing -- and then, just because he could, pocketed a pair of gloves as he guided her away toward the door. It was, perhaps, too cold for ice cream. Ever didn't care. It was a good way to set people at ease, a good place for them to sit, to introduce themselves out of uniform, and for him to explain the very basics... Niloufer fin? if you want more later in timeline we can!
