The cat earred sibling sat on the floor diligently fiddling with something in her hands. Her tail swished side to side as her attention focused on what was in her hands rather than packing. She had worn her student pin already to get used to keeping a human-like body rather than to walk around as a cat, coated in fur and walking on all fours.
She had a suitcase open on her bed with the acceptance letter sitting next to, still retaining the neat folds that were required to fit it into an envelope. Her suitcase wasn't even a quarter filled and the two siblings were going to enter the school TOMORROW! There were clothes unfolded and laying half in the suitcase, laying crumpled up around her and maybe one outfit folded neatly inside the bottom of the suitcase. She would never finish packing. She was sure that she would forget something after arriving to her dorm room. At the very least she wouldn't have to share a room with Ari anymore.
She turned over to see how much Ari had finished.

Ari hadn't even touched his suitcase and clothes. He was sprawled out on his bed, in his natural form, of course, with his pin, suitcase, and acceptance letter lying on his bedside table. Everything was happening so fast, and soon he'd be off into the school. He wouldn't admit it, but in honesty, it was scary. He snorted and turned his head to see how much Deshi had packed.
Not even half, huh? He thought to himself, stretching his limbs. Not that he could say anything. He hadn't even started. With a yawn, he leaped up, jumping off the bed, and attempted to see what Deshi was looking at in her hands.
He nudged her and made a motion towards her hands, in an attempt to ask what she was looking at. He wasn't ready to put his pin on. Not yet.

Empty. Typical. Deshi rolled her eyes and smirked. Even her measly one outfit in the suitcase was better. She wondered if she should pack better sleeping clothes. Her current outfit consisted of a large t-shirt and a pair of underwear. Simply uncomfortable compared to her natural form.
When the inugami came over to see what she was playing with, she opened her hands up, revealing a little mousey cat toy in which the stuffing and bell had come out. Deshi sat with much difficulty, trying to sew it up with white spider thread. "I don't think you'll have any more luck than I will..." She stared at him with one eyebrow raised and then looked down at his paws. Fingers were bad enough, but at least she had opposable thumbs when she was outside of her cat form.

Ari sighed, went over to his bed, and shifted to his.. human-like form, slipping the clothes on and slipping the pin into his pocket. He shivered. "This form is so... unnatural...," he complained. He preferred his paws. The fingers were so different. He grunted, and he lifted his suitcase up to his bed. As he began to go through his clothes, he sorted out what he wanted to take, and then would throw the others across the room.
This continued on for a bit until he found.. a photograph. His mom. His mouth and lungs betrayed him, and he let out a gasp. In the photo, his mom and himself, were in their inorganic form. He could feel his chest tighten the longer he look at the photo, so he sat it aside and continued to pack his clothes.

"Thought so." She said in a huff as she continued to try and fix the little mouse with the needle and thread. "You might as well get used to it now. You'll be wearing that a lot when we get to the school." Deshi put up a strong face in front of her brother. She would miss the small room that they shared and her parents, but the thought of one day being better than her brother made it all worth it. And she could freely come visit them whenever, right?
"I'm gonna make so many new friends and learn so much more than you." She tried to make conversation with her brother. She wanted to take her mind off packing, having mixed feelings about going now that Ari seemed to have also begun to pack.

He ignored her. He honestly didn't think he could listen to her. Ari's eyes kept flickering between the picture and packing. It had been years since he had seen that picture. She hadn't even bothered to write. Not bothered to come and visit.. After so long, he stopped waiting for her. He moved on. His mom, the one person he thought he could count on in the entire land of Halloween, had just... walked out on him. He felt his eyes tear up. But he blinked back the tears, giving himself a bit of air.
"It'll be good for us." He said, as he continued packing. "I mean, Mom and Dad.. they want us to get out there and learn everything.." His ears flattened. "Even if it means I'm going to kick your a** to the curb with everything...," he muttered. Typical kitten. Thinking she could do everything better than him. He was better. Smarter, stronger, faster, and way more skilled in nearly everything.

[Deshi, in the middle of folding a shirt, had turned to look at her brother. She examined him for a few seconds. "Are you crying?" Her voice was blunt. She giggled as he stopped himself. She peeked over to see the photo of that unfamiliar woman and her dad. "You got dad now. And you got me!" She really didn't understand the mood of the moment and nor could she relate. She had grown up with her mom and gained a dad and a brother. What more could she ask for? Besides being better than Ari that is.
"Yeah. It'll be good for us." Deshi agreed. It was one of the few things that the siblings agreed on the entire night. "And we'll get our own rooms! Finally!" She rolled her eyes and gave a chuckle. "Wait HEY! I'm gonna beat you. Just. You. Wait." She gave him an attempted intimidating point with her index finger.

His nostrils flared. "So what if I am?" He turned the photograph around to Deshi. "This is the only photo I have of my parents together. You see that woman? That's my mom. I haven't seen her in nearly TEN years." He snarled. She needn't torment him about something so meaningful to him.
He blinked and thought about it. She couldn't have known...
"I.. I'm sorry, Deshi. You wouldn't have known that.. Nobody ever told you." He apologized.
His ears perked up as he heard the words I'm gonna beat you. He let out a growl. "In your dreams, Deshi. In your best dreams."
