"Beau, hold.... still!" Avery signed as she scooped up her wriggling snake and put him back in her lap. She had a brand new purple and white spotted dress to put him in, but today he was being quite difficult. With a sigh of frustration, she let out a growl, threw her hands into the air and fell flat against the soft green grass. "You are just... no fun sometimes, you know that Beau?" she groaned, rolling her torso only through the grass as her snake slithered about on her lap and lower body. She tilted her head up and peered at him before groaning again and holding the little sleeveless dress up to the sky to look at it. "Not my fault they thought you were a girl when I got ya." she snorted with a soft cackle. Oh it was so fun to tease him, even if it felt he had no idea what she was saying sometimes.
Beauregard slithered off his human's lap, snaking his way through the grass as any snake did until he found himself up at the girl's head. his tongue flickered in and out a few times, darting nearer and nearer towards her ear until it eventually made contact. Darting backwards slightly at the sudden squeal and laugh, he coiled himself up and peered at her with his beady black eyes, the sun catching his scales, making it seem as if he had a bright rainbow shimmer to his scales. He studied his human, tolerating the pets and pats, silently contemplating in that way snakes do.

Jaquelynn was making her way across the grounds from the main castle. She enjoyed break time as it was the best time for her to avoid every other student and find random animals to talk to. She felt like everyone thought she was weird, (and perhaps they did), but she pushed those unhelpful thoughts aside and wandered off to find a nice tree to sit under.
As she often stared at her feet as she walked; hoping to avoid eye contact with everyone around her; Jaquelynn's eyes wandered slightly and she spotted something glistening in the grass not far from her feet. This made her stop dead in her tracks. Glancing up for a second she saw that it was a beautiful snake that seemed to shine with multicolored rainbows in the sunlight. "Oh my..." a soft gasp escaped her lips and ignoring everyone else around her she hurried over and knelt down beside the reptile as it lay coiled in the grass. "Oh aren't you gorgeous! Hello there!" she smiled and reached out to pet the snake.
It was then that she finally noticed the girl laying beside the snake and she let out an embarrassed squeak, "Oh.... sorry! I .... sorry... " she quickly got to her feet and prepared to hurry off, "I didn't mean to intrude... sorry!"

Beau didn't move, nor did he slink away from the petting. He simply stared at the new girl with his beady snake eyes and flickered his tongue in and out a few times to test the air.
Lillia had just shut her eyes for a bit of rest when she heard someone suddenly next to her, talking to her snake. She turned her head and glanced at the girl, a huge smile spreading across her lips. Someone else to meet! But... wait.. they were already leaving? "Hey, wait! No no no don't leave yet!" she exclaimed and sat up, jumping to her feet and brushing the grass off her back and legs. "You can totally pet him if you want, he loves the attention!" she smiled and held out a hand to the girl. "Names Avery, nice to meet'cha. What's your name?" she asked curiously, wondering if this girl was just going to stare at her and bolt anyways. She wasn't even sure what house she was in just yet, she hadn't seen her at the Slytherin tables...

Jaquelynn could feel her face growing hot and knew she must be bright red by now; but at least this girl didn't seem scary. She still felt incredibly embarrassed for starting this conversation unwillingly and knew her mind was about to go blank and make her look like a fool halfway through their conversation.
"Oh, hi, nice to meet you", she said, trying to sound less awkward. She reached out and shook Avery's hand delicately, letting go quick smart. "I'm Jaquelynn... sorry that I bothered you. I honestly didn't see you there... I have a habit of not looking at people". Avoiding eye contact with Avery, Jaquelynn's eyes fell upon the snake sitting at her feet and a soft smile crept onto her face, "He really is lovely though. Such a cutie! Do you know what kind of snake he is? His colours are amazing!"

The Slytherin girl smiled, glad the other had not run off. She even introduced herself! Yay more new friends! "Hi Jaquelynn, thats a nice name." she beamed and pumped her arms a bit in a swing like mode and did a jew jumps in place. The girl just couldn't ever sit still for long. "You didn't bother me, no worries about that. Beau is a lot more interesting to look at." she teased, sticking her tongue out and flipping her hair from one side of her head to the other before glancing down at her companion, who was now slithering over to the other girl's feet and flickering his tongue about her ankles. "He is a Rainbow boa constrictor. I was trying to dress him up in a dress but he wasn't playing nice today. so I gave up." she paused, forgetting for a moment that might actually sound weird and so quickly offered an explanation. "Lady told me he was a girl when I got him... so now I tease him with silly outfits." she grinned mischievously and held up the small purple dress with white spots.
