A pocket of neon shines in the Ruins, every tube gleaming a bright, sharp red. What used to be a series of graceful plazas connected by small tiled streets has become something else, something decidedly less grand. It seems water mains have shattered in this area, drowning the whole place three feet deep... or more, if you don't step carefully. The flicker of the neon against the water is strangely beautiful; some of the neon tubes even shine underneath the surface, giving the whole area an eerie, shifting glow. The hush of eternal rain against the water's surface drowns out most other sounds.
The streets and plazas are abandoned, except for the rain, the water, and the light... but a different sort of glow seems to emanate from one of the buildings. Something softer, warmer. Even here, it seems, there are blessings to be found...

Objective: The Blessings are contained within a small building, it seems, a light shining from its basement. Which is underwater, of course. The front door will not budge. Surely there is some way to get in there...
Stage One: Exploration
You must explore the building's exterior to somehow find a way in. Rain falls on you constantly, and the water is three feet deep everywhere, deeper in other spots depending on the terrain. The cracked tile of the streets is slippery; it's easy to fall down.
Quote:
Roll 1d10. Continue to roll until you are successful.
1: The building has a second floor... maybe you can get in that way? You manage to shimmy up a gutter (or fly up, if that's your thing), but the only windows you can reach are shut tight. Rusted shut, it seems. Roll again.
2: You kick the front door in frustration and fury! The door does not move, but the rebound of your kick sends you sprawling back into the water. Now your toe hurts and you're even more wet than you were before. However, a grate opens, revealing an entrance. Success.
3: You peek into a small alley next to the building and spot what looks like cellar doors underneath the water's surface. You have to duck down under the water and heave hard to get traction, but the doors open, revealing a hole. And a small vortex which drags you down, smacking your body against the doorframes on the way. -3 HP; success.
4: You go around the side and find the drowned remains of a garden. Long-dead plants wisp in the currents, brushing against your legs in the creepiest way possible. There seems to be the smallest of entrances here. Success.
5: You find a weird porthole-shaped window on the front of the building, just under the water's surface. Its edges are slippery with scum, but you manage to pry it open. Better take a deep breath before going in, if that's your thing... Success.
6: As you move around to study the building from another angle, you step into a sinkhole and drop down into sudden depth. Whether or not you can swim, the loss of footing is startling and you spend a few minutes flailing about. Roll again.
7: A sudden strange current in the water knocks you off your feet and drags you a ways before letting go. You feel battered and waterlogged as you slog back towards the building. -5 HP; roll again.
8: You try to break a ground floor window to get in. The window shatters under your blow, but the jagged hole left behind looks painful to pass through. Still, it IS a way in... -5 HP; success.
9: You manage to shatter a neon tube. A pulse of strange energy jolts through you. Why did you do that, again? -3 HP; roll again.
10: As you shuffle through the water, something bright catches your eye. Is that a key? It is. And it fits the front door just perfectly. Success.
Stage Two: Shining Dive
However you made it into the building, you find yourself swimming. Below you, neon gleams - it seems like the building has a basement. Well, 'basement' seems kind of insufficient. The space below you is vast and very deep; you try to look down through the water but you can't see the bottom. The neon attached to the walls below seems to just stretch down into infinity - but partway down you see the warm glow of the Blessing you seek.
The Blessing is contained within what looks like a stained glass dome. It's pretty far down, though... can you make it down there without killing yourself?
Quote:
Roll 1d100. The dome structure holding the Blessings is 60 feet below the surface. The number you roll is the amount of feet you dive before you have to resurface. Continue rolling until you roll at least 60.
Bonus for characters who either do not breathe, breathe water, or are a species with natural swimming capabilities: Add +10 to each roll you make.
Stage Three: Gear Dome
Thankfully, the dome you reach seems to be dry; the instant you get close enough, a current drags you in and spits you out into the cold interior of the dome. Arches of rusting metal hold up a strangely beautiful and delicate web of glass that seems too fragile to keep out the water around it. And, sure enough, here is the Blessing.
... Inside another, smaller dome. Coppery gears, tarnished green from the water, lay across the floor between you and the Blessing. It seems like manipulating the gears might open the secondary dome protecting the Blessing.
Quote:
Roll 3d4. You are looking for a specific combination of numbers: 3-2-3. They can appear in any order (i.e. 2-3-3, 3-3-2 are also fine) but you must have all three numbers in a single roll.
- If you need to roll more than 5 times, you automatically solve the puzzle.

END: When the gears align properly, the secondary dome protecting the Blessings creaks open. The entire area trembles a bit. Better grab something and get out...

He walked curiously through the alley. Wilson had never ventured into this part of the area before. The hunter’s face twisted and he clicked his tongue when he waded through the water. It seemed this place was flooded—perhaps some pipes had broken? Or maybe there had been recent flood and he hadn’t noticed it. That didn’t seem too likely though. But he had to admit that the way the light glowed gave the alley a nice ambience. It was almost pleasant to walk through if you could forget about the three feet of water to wade through. He held out his hand to catch the falling rain before he continued forward until he found a building.
Wilson tried to walk around to study its architecture, but found himself falling into deeper waters. What in the…

A rather wet hunter finally made it back to normal levels, but wasn’t looking too happy about it. Pouting, Wilson fiddled with his goggles before he noticed something gleaming in the water. He curiously picked it up and realized it was a key. The hunter stared at it for a moment before walking over to the front door. With a flick of his wrist, it clicked open. He grinned.
