Caelian was out and about, half trotting through the area around Knightside Elementary School, waking to reassure herself that her daughter’s school was kept safe over these summer months. Sometimes it was hard to imagine that the cute school could ever be attacked or anything, but hey, this city was a dangerous place…so in truth the idea wasn’t as far-fetched as it could have been.

She was doing these patrols now mostly just to make sure the city was a safer place for Millie. She was losing interest in much else, and as that was her main focus—the main focus that caused her to become a knight in the first place…she figured that she would just keep focusing on that and do her best.

The squire felt another presence in the area and paused. It was an order feeling, that was for sure, but somewhat diminished? Perhaps another child senshi? Like Ambrosia had been. That girl was rather adorable, and she wished she could see her again sometime…but…why not start a conversation with one of the kids. They seemed to be ready for conversation…almost more so than their adult counterparts.

Making her way over to where she felt the energy coming from, Caelian called out softly. “Hey. Is anyone there? I’d like to talk if that’s okay.”

If it was a kid…she didn’t want to frighten them off…after all. You weren’t supposed to talk to strangers. Even if you were on the same side as them.

Goretti jumped when the voice called out, not because he didn't know someone was there but because he had been quite confident he was going to be the one to make first contact. He hesitated for only a second; the voice was friendly and felt good…but it wasn't like anything he'd ever felt before.

Cautiously he tiptoed out, preemptively waving. "Hi," he greeted. "I'm here. And I'm here to talk if you want to, I have a little while before I have to head home. I snuck out," he blurted, perhaps a bit more honest than he'd meant to be. "But it's okay because I set a timer on my watch to make sure I go back so I can still get all my sleep."

He crossed the distance between himself and the Squire quickly, hoping he could still make a proper introduction. "I'm Goretti, and I'm the Glue Senshi! And I have no idea who you are! Are you a senshi, too? You're really pretty, like a fairy tail princess!"

Oh it was one of the younger ones. It was all Caelian could do to stop herself from moving over and patting his head. His outfit…he mentioned he was the glue senshi, and he looked like a bottle of Elmer's glue all right. How precious was that.

She took a moment to compose herself. These were children yes, but when they were powered up like this they were still senshi, and they deserved respect, not coddling.

“It’s wonderful to meet you, Goretti. My name is Caelian, and no I’m not a senshi, I’m a knight…well, right now I’m a Squire. Of Venus.” She flashed a smile. “Haven’t you met a knight before?”

After a moment, she gave a little frown. “Have you at least heard about the knights? If not, I can teach you a little, I’m sure.”

He shook his head shamelessly. "No. I only just started all this a little while ago. I heard about them! Lenka told me! She's my friend, senshi of watermelon? She's really strong. Her and Julienne taught me just about everything I know! But it's really nice to meet you, Caelian!"

Goretti looked around. "It's kinda creepy here after dark. I mean, I like school fine during the day! …But it kinda feels like something could jump out any minute. But I guess it's a good thing that we're here, right? Better to find something now than while everyone was at school!" He laughed for good measure, though even if he was in a good mood, he couldn't hide the fact that the place was a little scary. "To be honest, this is the furthest from home I've been after dark. I'm really happy I ran into you. I don't really like to be out on my own. What are you supposed to do if you meet a monster stronger than you!?" He looked up at her expectantly. "I make glue puddles so I might be able to outrun them while they're stuck—how do you fight?"

Caelian shrugged. “I don’t know any Lenka’s…but I know Ambrosia, and a few other senshi. I’ll admit, I’ve mostly met knights and those…more unsavory characters from chaos.” She glanced around, nodding as well. “You have a point, Goretti. It is quite creepy here right now…Would you like to walk some place less creepy? Or…” She tilted her head to the side at the question of not being strong enough for a youma.

“Well, if you come up against something stronger than you, first I would try and get out of there as fast as possible, but then I would work on training to get stronger yourself, so that doesn’t happen again. Being in a situation where you can’t defend yourself is a bad thing, so…you have to work on training.”

She held up her powder puff. “This is how I uh…defend myself. It’s quite useless, if I do say so myself. So, I’ve had to work on real physical strength to keep me in the game…I kick people a lot, It helps to have high heels for that, you know.” The squire wiggled her foot and grinned, showing Goretti the heel.

Goretti glanced down at her heel and laughed. "I like you," he decided; it wasn't often you met an adult who could smile at the thought of kicking someone. "I don't know any Ambrosia or any, uhm, unsavory characters. I only know chibi senshi and cats. And you! But I have to ask," his eyes went back to her powder puff. "How do you fight with that? That's makeup, right?" he leaned close to investigate the item. "Do youma not like that? Dad has some things like that, I think I could probably borrow one. He might notice, but I'm sure he would understand that it was to save the world."

Goretti looked a bit perplexed. "Well, at least…he would, if I could explain why I was stealing his makeup. I guess I can't explain. I could always just tell him it's for arts and crafts, but…" The boy hastily shook his head. "No, sorry! I'll figure it out! You said training! How do you train? I want to get stronger! I want buttwings!"

Caelian nodded, “Chibi senshi and cats are a good start though. I think it was a chibi senshi who was the first senshi I ever met, so I must say, they’re pretty cool. Ambrosia is a chibi. Like yourself, that’s why I wondered if you new her.”

She looked at her weapon and laughed. “No, I don’t think taking your dad’s makeup will help you fight any better. See, Knights have weapons, and this…this is mine. It’s quite useless, but it makes the people I’m fighting with feel more confident about themselves. Would you like to feel what it feels like?”

The Squire smiled at the boy. “Also, if you want, we could spar a little and I can try and teach you some of the things I know. If you want to get your buttwings faster, that is.” She laughed, holding out the powderpuff, ready to dab some of the magic onto him for the confidence boost that it provided.

Though, sometimes…a lot of the time she wished she had a better weapon to use during those awful battles. She felt like she was the most useless person in the city.

Goretti was not one to think long on any matters; Caelian mentioned buttwings and he was nodding furiously before his brain had even processed what she had been saying. "I want to learn! Teach me!" he exclaimed eagerly. "I have never ever been in a real fight in my life, so I don't know anything! I can kick some, but that's because I play soccer. I feel bad about hurting people."

He sucked in a breath to calm himself and hold his tongue; it was a method he'd been taught to try and contain himself, though in the instance of excitement it was futile. "But I really want to learn. I really want to help and protect people, and I don't want to let Lenka or Julienne down. I would really, really appreciate any help you can give me, Miss Caelian!"

The squire laughed, gently putting some powder on the boy’s face, letting the magic she had flow into it, hoping that he would notice the confidence boost that he got from it. “Okay, then show me your best moves, Goretti. Pretend that I’m a bad guy and I’m hurting someone that you care about. Don’t worry about hurting me, I’m not going to be mad at anything you do, I promise. We’re friends. And we’ll stay friends. This is just about helping you to get stronger.”

Caelian twisted her face into a derpy sort of scowl and worked on making her voice low and tried to add a menacing note into it. “Heh heh heh…come at me little senshi…boo!”

She didn’t attack, not yet…she would let him make the first move.

Besides. He was just a kid. How much damage could he really do? Sure, she might end up with a few bruises, but that wasn’t so bad. She was doing a good thing here.

Goretti stared at the woman for a long moment; his eyes were wide with the new found burst of confidence, but her attempt at a villain was comical.

…He really tried to imagine her as a bad guy, but the moment he tried to summon a mighty battle cry, a string of laughter bubbled from him. "I'm sorry!" he blurted, doubling over to rest his hands on his knees as he laughed. A few seconds passed—not many, but enough for him to catch his breath and exclaim, "That was really good, I promise! You make a good villain!"

He was still laughing when he stood, though apologetically he cried, "I'm sorry if it hurts, if it's too much just tell me and we can stop and get an ice pack from my house!"

And then, he sucked in one more breath and ran at Caelian, cringing as he kicked her as hard as he could in the back of the leg.

Caelian just broke out into laughter when Goretti did, completely unable to hold her villain act for very long at all. She let out a little cry of pain however, completely missing the fact that the chibi had gone to kick her until his foot collided with the backside of her knee, causing her to fall forward just slightly. “Oh my. You have a nice strong leg there, don’t you?”

She let out another titter of laughter then got up, looking at the young senshi and shaking her head. “That was really good. I think I’m going to have a bruise there tomorrow…or even later tonight. Who knows?” The Squire hesitated, then ruffled the boy’s hair. “Though, when you’re fighting a real enemy, make sure you don’t apologize before you kick, okay? I think that kick could really get you out of a few jams that your glue might not!”

She hesitated, then stuck her tongue out before not so completely gently shoving the boy, wanting to see how good his reflexes were at saving himself from a fall. She didn’t want to hurt him, but she didn’t just want him to think he could kick everyone in the back of the knee and be perfectly all right with that either.

Orin had been in the midst of uttering another apology for the bruise she could expect when he was shoved back. It wasn't hard enough to hurt—and while he wasn't expecting it, he didn't immediately crash to the ground. Instead, he stumbled back a few feet, shoes scuffing against the ground as he flailed desperately. His reflexes weren't bad, though in all the time he spent trying to catch his balance, any opponent could have easily dealt another blow.

He looked up at her even as he jumped back into a more normal position. "You got me! And I was just about to say sorry for kicking you, too! But I didn't fall down! I never fall down! …And I'll probably still say sorry for hurting people, even if they aren't bad. It's just good manners. —Is your leg okay?" He dropped to his knees to look just in case; there was a bit of dirt from where his foot had made contact so he quickly brushed it off before jumping back up. "I'd rather stick to my glue. I mean, I guess I should get stronger but—the glue doesn't hurt anyone. Wanna see?" he asked, looking a little too eager. "It goes away, so you don't have to worry about it for long!"

“Go right ahead. Glue me up, Goretti.” Caelian smiled and watched the boy, wondering if he would really be able to get through all of this war and training without resorting to real fighting. If a senshi could get out with just using their magic, wouldn’t that be something else. Maybe one day they would be strong enough to exist like that…or at least the senshi would…the knights…

The squire looked at her powder puff and sighed.

Well. That was a different story all together. She had no hope of doing anything without resorting to kicks and punches and hair pulling. And even that was dependant on if the opponent had enough hair to pull! Some people just didn’t. Like herself, for instance.

She looked to the chibi. “Whenever you’re ready. I’m ready to get the glue. Stick it to me hard.”

He found great amusement in that and laughed again. "I like you, Caelian, you're really cool. I hope we can be friends," he said, quickly trotting backwards to a comfortable distance. He acted like he was about to get involved in some sporting event—stretched, puffed in a deep breath—and then he grinned and shouted, "Goretti Glue Puddle!"

The ground started frothing and glue began to puddle around the Squire's feet. "Now try to walk! Or run! Or jump! It's so cool," he insisted, jumping himself. Goretti was beaming; the sight of the glue just delighted him. He still had no idea how it worked, other than he focused and said the name and then—bam!—glue. It made him wonder if magicians were really doing magic.

They certainly weren't fighting youma, so at least he one-upped them there.

Caelian looked down at the puddle of glue that had formed around her feet and made a disgusted little look. Ew…her poor shoes! She tried to remove one of her feet from the glue and found it to be quite stuck. Quite stuck indeed.

“That’s quite impressive! And gross, but still. Impressive.” She smiled at Goretti, then again tried to remove her foot, though this time, she lost her balance.

Waving her arms like a windmill, the squire tried to stop herself from crashing down to the ground…but to no avail.

Her knees hit the ground quite hard and there she was. Flat on her face. “Ow.” Grimacing, the woman pushed herself up and looked at Goretti. “Well, your glue works, that’s for sure.”

Maybe he could protect himself with just glue. Maybe indeed. She was certainly down for the count.
