Rider

Name: Y'zor (Yih-ZOR)
Age: 30 Turns
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Rank: Wingrider (Former Searchrider and aiming for that rank again)
History: Born and raised at Telgar Weyr, Y'zor Impressed Farevth from one of Gold Thoroth's Clutches when he was 17. The two have had many good years together, and despite many Flights they've participated in, and multiple partners they've had, Y'zor has never found the right person to settle down with.

The son of a brownrider and a greenrider, Y'zor had hoped to impress his father by Impressing a brown at his first Hatching, but wasn't chosen at all. After the third time up and not Impressing, Y'zor had all but given up hope and stopped going to Hatchings at all. The Weyrlingmaster, a friendly man, had said that some people simply didn't have what it took to be a dragonrider, and that Y'zor could still help out around the Weyr despite his lack of a dragon. This obviously didn't console the young dragonrider-to-be very much, but it did help him start attending Hatchings again as part of the audience or to bring out meat for the ravenous dragonets, clapping as friends and strangers alike Impressed their beautiful counterparts.

So, to say that a final little blue stumbling up to Y'zor was surprising is something of an understatement. While he was helping bring meat for the new Weyrlings, Y'zor noticed a final blue on the Sands, piteously crying for his rider, nosing past the Candidates and peering into the crowd. Y'zor felt bad for the blue, Chosenless, as he was. Then the blue had turned his head and looked straight at Y'zor before crying out and scampering across the Sands, falling all over himself to reach the boy.

Y'zor and Farevth dedicated themselves to Telgar, earning the rank of Searchrider when Y'zor was 24. The pair brought many strong Candidates to Stand and Impress at Telgar's Clutches and took great pride in their skills and successes.

Telgar's decision not to overtly get involved once the wherhandlers usurped the power of two weyrs, one in their own backyard, was the first time Y'zor ever fully disagreed with the Weyrleaders' major decisions. It rankled in his honor, in his sense of duty to his fellow riders, and in his belief of what was right. Even if there had been no warning of the initial attack, the other Northern Weyrs should have banded together to rescue and restore Benden to the dragonriders. Leaving it in the hands of the wherhandlers not only gave them and their allies some nod of acknowledgement to their "right" to do so, but was a sign that it could be done at the other Weyrs-- Weyrs like Y'zor's home.

Y'zor felt the need to stand by his beliefs and do something to alleviate the guilt he felt on behalf of those too frightened or foolish to do something about the uprising. With a brief warning to his Weyrleaders and a short, almost curt explanation backed up by all the solemnity in his nature, Y'zor gave notice that he wished to transfer to Trine, as it was the new home of the displaced riders, and lend a hand in whatever way he could. In two days, Y'zor was gone, moved to the warzone of Trine where he was able to show his support of his fellows and soothe his own doubts in his Weyrleader and Weyrwoman through manual labor and Threadfighting, by default, with one of Trine's wings until the Wings got themselves sorted out and the only Northern Wing, led by a rider no more than a boy, appeared. In spite of his misgivings, duly given to N'mol when he met with him, Y'zor requested to join and was admitted to the Dawn Fliers. What the boy lacked in experience, Y'zor was determined to help him make up for. No further Benden riders would die if he could help it.

Description: Y'zor keeps his almost platinum blonde hair cut short, but with enough length that it appears to be mussed at least half the time. His eyes are a gray-green that often keeps to the softer end of the color spectrum, but in certain lights and with certain colors of clothing have been known to appear sharp, bright, and almost hostile. Due to his many hours keeping busy, Y'zor is lightly muscled and his skin always bears a light tan. He has been lucky in Fall, in that his Threadscores are only visible when he removes his clothing. He is clearly a rider in his prime and, were he more to the genial personality of Brownriders, he might bed more than a few interested women. He stands at around 5' 10" tall.

Personality: Although his gray-green eyes always seem ready to laugh-- and he does have a sense of humor-- Y'zor is very serious much of the time, giving most everything the most logical outlook he possibly can. His serious attitude has been known to peel away when he needs to comfort or assure a child or frightened woman, but those instances are few and far between. When comfortable, his grin is an easy one, but if he's out of company he appreciates, he instantly reverts to his usual serious self and replies in a cool, collected way. Because of his calm, analytical way of looking at a problem, this bluerider easily understands the tactics of Threadfighting formations and plans and is an asset to his Thread fighting wing. Unfortunately, the same trait also tends to make him stand out to others as unsympathetic, as he doesn't hesitate to point out facts they have missed to those confiding troubles in him. Even before the move to Trine, Y'zor had many friendly acquaintances and few close friends.

Y'zor is difficult to deal with at times-- for someone so young he's ridiculously stubborn and set in his ways-- but once someone has "proved" oneself to him, he'll stick by them. This attitude extends to both friends and superiors, and those leaders who have shown common sense and a just thought process often find themselves with the staunchest supporter for which they could hope. His stubbornness and tendency toward believing firmly in what is "right" or "just" sometimes conflicts with the traditional views he has been taught at Telgar. These struggles often make him short-spoken when the topics arise or when he is addressed while caught up in his own internal handling of them. Often his personal views trump the traditional-- a blessing considering how often the modern day conflicts with tradition-- but at his core Y'zor does believe in the old school system of Pern and Weyrs and will defend it.

Raised in a Weyr and as likely dragonrider material, Y'zor embodies the best traits of riders with the strictest adherence: lending aid to those in need, standing by your Weyr and your fellow dragonriders, defending the weak, harming none but in self-defense or the defense of another, and being wholly devoted to the duties of a dragonrider (including upholding the laws of Pern). So he sometimes comes across as a stick in the mud to those who prefer a good time; those who have known Y'zor as their helping hand or staunch ally prefer him just as he is.

His serious attitude often makes him seem much older than his mere 30 Turns, but Y'zor is at the peak of his good years and reveling in it.

Other: His parents are Z'oray of Brown Yentleth and Yaoma of Green Iminth, both still residing at Telgar.

Dragon
Name: Farevth
Age: 15
Colour: Blue
Description: [x]
Farevth is a slightly darker version of the standard blue (#0e2f9 cool with navy blue wing membranes. He is large for a Blue, with a size of Large and a Muscular build.
Personality: Unlike his rider, Farevth tends to be openly friendly with any dragon who crosses his path. It is rare for this Blue to be out-of-temper for any reason, save the usual extreme situations (such as his rider being in genuine danger). Even then, he is more likely to be worried or panicked than angry, and he can be counted upon as one of the true examples of a stereotypical Blue: steady, unruffled, and sweet. He is generally polite and loves to help out, even to the point of volunteering himself and his rider when Y'zor may not have been so quick to agree to the task on his own (because Farevth knows Y'zor would have done so anyway, given enough time). This almost vigilante-like need to help others, oftentimes before being asked, has gotten him into trouble in the past. Once his mind is set to "hero" mode, the word "no" makes no sense to him and it takes lengthy explaining to talk Rev out of assisting someone-- and that's assuming the victim is lucky enough to break through the haze blinding the big Blue. Rev has thrust himself at-- or pushed Y'zor into volunteering their aid to-- people who didn't necessarily need them, in spite of how it appeared to Rev. Past encounters like this have ended with angry individuals who have lost precious time at their work or, at best, with an insulted party and Y'zor coming away from the experience looking stupid. These "minor" incidents don't generally affect Farevth for long, though. This Blue needs to be the hero and an arrogance specific to this part of his personality, namely the belief that the world is in trouble and he is the one to help them, makes him blind to any naysayers or cons to it whatsoever.

It was Y'zor's kindred belief in protecting the weak and helping others that drew Farevth's mind to the young man in the first place, despite the fact that Y'zor wasn't technically a Candidate at the time.

Farevth also has a fantastic sense of humor, though it tends to be a little dry. He has been known to scare a potential Candidate or two during a Search, just to make them squirm, and would happily tease a fellow dragon with a few amused but pointed comments in a relaxed setting. He isn't above treating his rider to the same, but Y'zor is well-familiar with his partner's habits and Farevth knows he will always take them in stride.

A gifted Searcher, Farevth has the ability to see true Impression potential. Up to date, his ability has an Impression rating of about 96%-- one of those he put up for Candidacy didn't Impress, but will be up on the Sands again for a second time at Telgar's next Hatching-- of which he is rather proud. Rev loves the warm Sands of the Southern Continent and likes spending his free time on the beaches with Y'zor, sunning himself while his rider swims or suns with him.

Other: He genuinely likes firelizards.
