The group would re-materialise within another room, deep within the complex. This one was more simple, the paintings were there as they had been in the other rooms, though there were no treasures or riches, no furniture or servants. It was imply just a room with a big stone coffin in the middle.

After getting over the excitement of being tranported from one point to another Isidore took a moment to check everything was okay. He was in one piece, Kyrie was in one piece, Scim was sniffing around excitedly and Elora was stood between them.
“It’s very simple.” He remarked as he took it all in. He had seen different types of funerals, some were simple others were very vibrant and exciting. From looking at the tomb paintings he could tell that this man’s funeral must have been a big affair.

Kyrie continued to hold tightly to Elora's hand, even after the shock of being transported so quickly easily had begun to wear off. She had no idea what she had been expecting, but it certainly had not be to disappear in a puff of smoke to reappear in another in a dark, incredibly still room. Clutching her map and the lamp against her chest, she glanced around. It was not very exciting, but she could feel the gravity of where they were. This place was important, suffocating, but important.

"I wonder if they made it simple so that his spirit wouldn't get distracted," she mused, remaining where she was and looking to the large stone sarcophagus. "I wonder why they did not want to let his body go back to the earth." It seemed very strange that they would want to surround the body with stone. From her understanding of death, it went against nature. The soul left the body and the body returned to the earth.

"They could have done." Isidore thought that was a very good suggestion, he wished that the people were around so he could ask them about their ideas and beliefs, it seemed that the dead were very important there had obviously been some big precession and this tomb had been carefully thought out and filled with everything the dead might need.
"There are so many different beliefs." he said as much to himself as to his sister, "it's like everyone wants something different." That wa quite an intimidating thought really, it would be his job to make sure that everyone was looked after, that people laid their dead to rest apporpriately, maybe even to make sure the dead were not disturbed, that was Scim's job, he was a guardian of the cemetary.

"You do not have an easy realm little one." Elora smiled and gave Kyrie's hand a squeeze. "Here people mummify their dead, not burial, or cremation, inside that simple stone will be another coffin, one of beautiful colours and gold.

Kyrie looked to her brother and felt her heart go out to him. She had never truly thought much about her brother's realm before. She just had her crows. How complicated could that be? She called them and they came. She did not need to think about intricacies and such a wide array of cultural needs. But she had full faith in his abilities. Isi was clever and dedicated. Besides, if he ever needed any help, she would be more than happy to be there for him.

Looking up at Elora, she listened to her explanation about how this culture handled their dead and smiled. There was something awesome inside that boring stone thing?
"Oh that is so neat! I wish we could see it," she smiled and stepped a little closer to reach out and touch the old, dusty stone. "I wonder what they did for the regular people." She wondered if they buried them the same way or even if they might be somewhere within this tomb itself.

Isidore nodded in agreement, he wanted to see it too but he did not wish to disturb the grave. He knew his sister might think it was silly but it just felt wrong to him. He didn't think Scim would like it very much either. "Probably something similar, though not as grand, is that right Elora?"

Elora nodded and reached out to touch the sarcophagus.
"Yes, they would be put into the ground most likely, but still mummified, do you see those jars?"

Isidore looked to where she was pointing, it was a shelf above the main coffin. It had clay jars on it, painted in bright colours and with animal heads, a bit like Kyrie.
"Look Ky, they're like you." he declared.

Kyrie turned away from the sarcophagus and looked to the line of jars that they were looking at. That was cool! In her experience jars usually held really neat things inside. Releasing Elora's hand, she touched the necklace she had found at her brother's words and moved closer to the shelf to get a better look. What she saw sent a surge of excitement through her small body. So far, she had not seen anything that remotely looked like her in the mortal realms. It was exciting to think that maybe, just maybe these people would have accepted her as their goddess.
"Wow," she breathed and looked to her brother. "Do you think these people would have been my people?" she asked him. He was the cleverist after all. He seemed to know everything like their mother and father and cousin Kios.

Isidore walked right up to the shelf and stood on tiptoes to look up at the jars, they did have animal heads on but they were different kinds of animals.
"I don't know Ky, they might have been." It certainly made sense to him as she had a bird head and there was one that had a bird head too, though not a crow. "They don't have a crow one." he pointed out. Isi turned his attention back to Elora.
"What are they for?" he asked.

Elora walked over to them and smiled.
"Well, mummification is complicated, they remove some organs from the body, each of these is a god, of the North, South, East and West. The lungs, liver, stomach and intestines."

"Yuck." Isidore wrinkled his nose. "Why those?" It seemed strange to want to remove things from a body.

"Because they believed they would need them in the afterlife."

Again Kyrie laughed and shook her head. She wanted to be kind and respect the mortals like her brother wanted her to, but that made no sense to her at all.
"That is so silly. Don't you need everything to live? Seems like it would have been easier to leave it in the body since they left that for the spirit too," she declared and reached out to pet Scim. "How old do you think this tomb is Elora?" she asked and looked up at their new friend.

Elora smiled at the curious little crow's questions.
"Well, they wouldn't be living, they would be dead. So really I suppose they didn't need any of it." She shrugged a shoulder and took another good look around incase they were missing anything interesting.

"Maybe they thought the gods there would protect their organs and so they would be joined again in the afterlife?" Isidore added thoughtfully. It was rather irelevant whether their beliefs were actually true within the Underworld, without a belief in the afterlife and what lay beyond death then there was no Underworld really.
"What about their heart, there is no jar for their heart."

"Well, the heart stays within the body because it is where the soul is tied to, then they preserved the body with salts and things, wrapped it up in linnen and put it in this tomb." She walked to the wall and pointed to a painting. "They believed that in the Underworld the heart would be weighed, if it was light you would go to the afterlife, if not then a beast would eat your soul."

"Oh." Isidore replied, "Like Uncle Nergal, he judges the souls to see which can be reborn." It seemed that though people's beliefs were very different they were actually kind of similar in the end.

Kyrie ruffled her feathers and shook her head. She didn't like the idea of a beast eating someone's soul. That seemed rather frightening and terrible all at the same time.
"How do you know if you have a heavy or light heart? How does Uncle Nergal know how to judge the souls? Why can't they all be reborn and given another chance?" she asked as she looked between them both. She was familiar with death, but the finer details eluded her. It all seemed like a rather complicated process.

Isidore shrugged.
"What about bad people though?" He asked, looking back at his sister. "Uncle Nergal has to judge them to make sure that only the good people get reborn. It's like a .... " he couldn't think of the word. "Like a treat, a reason to be a good person I think."

Elora smirked a little and wondered if that were actually true. She wondered what classed as good and what classed as bad.
"I think if you've led a good life you have a light heart."

Kyrie tapped the side of her beak as she was prone to do when deep in thought. She supposed that made sense. What was the point of being good if there weren't any consequences.
"I wonder if this king had a heavy or light heart. It looks like he was well liked with all of his stuff," she smiled and looked back to the sarcophagus. "I wonder if there are other rooms in this tomb. Elora, do you think there are other people in here?"

"Maybe, there might be family in here, there might not." She shrugged, there was no way for her to tell."

Isidore glanced around the simple room and tried to take everything in from the wall paintings and the carvings on the sarcophagus. He wanted to remember everything and write it all down in his journal.
"Where will you go when we get out Elora?" He asked

Kyrie nodded in understanding. If she were in the king's position, she would want her family with her. Isi's question caught her attention and she looked up at the beautiful woman.
"Do you have family that you are finally going to be able to see?" she asked as she wandered over to her and reached out to take her hand once more. She hoped that she did have some family that were waiting for her.

Elora looked down at her hand in the little crow's and smiled. She liked children, they were so innocent and yet wise at the same time.
"No family, but I have friends I miss. I am hoping some of them might be at this Pantheon. Have you met any gods of Industry?"

"You can come back with us and look." Isidore grinned happily, "We have loads and loads of room." If she could fit inside a lamp then she really did not need much room at all, still he was sure his parents could just create a new room if they wanted to, they had managed to do the same for him and his siblings. "I haven't met a god of industry." he admitted, though he decided he would very much like to meet one a god of industry would be very interesting indeed. "But I haven't met many gods, so there probably is one, you should come with us and we can find out for you. I bet mama knows."
