Whoa! Too stylish!
Ashe took an open seat next to a girl with.....rather fabulous hair, he had to admit he was slightly entranced. He doubted his mom would let him do that to his hair....hell, she didn't even let 'professionals' cut it (They never used plant and animal friendly products). But, there was the problem with such a health nut as his mother, at least going vegetarian grew on him.
He smiled around the table at the new faces, somehow they seemed like a more surly lot than the other tables....and yet when a new student was announced to Slytherin they still cheered as loud as anyone else. Strange. Ah well, there still seemed to be some rather pleasant faces around the table, most rather attentive to the sorting and after the school's welcoming from the Headmaster. When the food appeared along the four tables everyone broke out into chatting. He looked to the first year next to him (Deciding she looked adequately non surly) and decided to introduce himself, "Hey!" he said, grinning broadly, "I'm Ashe." He offered a hand to shake (Proper manners and whatnot).
Yes, a fellow first year would be MUCH easier to talk to, all the older students looked much more intimidating....and taller!

Lillia was still hyped up on the sort of 'high' feeling she got after being sorted and being welcomed to her new house. She had already found herself a seat at the table and a few other students introduced themselves, complementing her hair, others curious as to what she was into. But soon the food appeared and everyone seemed to busy themselves with stuffing their faces.
Which wasn't a bad idea in itself!
The newly placed Slytherin grabbed her a pate and began loading up her food when she felt the presence of another next to her. She paused in the choosing of her meal and turned, giving him an excited smile as he introduced himself. Another first year! "Aw sup Ashe! Cool name. I'm Avery." she grinned and grabbed his hand, shaking it a bit roughly, though not intentional, just from excitement. She preferred to go by her middle name and got to the point where she just plain forgot to say her first name all together.
She couldn't help notice they had almost the same colored shorts and his tank top was rather rad if she said so herself. It helped to make his blue eyes pop out. "Dude, love your shirt... and our shorts about match." she chuckled cheekily and pointed back at her plate. "Hope you don't mind, I'm starving!" she laughed and continued to load her plate but still gave him her listening attention. "Are you as excited as I to start your day at school? I wonder if they have Quidditch try out's for first years...." she said almost bouncing as she loaded up the more 'healthy' of the food options displayed across the table.

Ashe offered a grin, spread from ear-to-ear. Awesome pick, she seemed like a nice gal. He was always a little apprehensive when meeting new people, he just couldn't stand obstinate people. He didn't even mind her overly zealous hand-shaking, he was pretty hyped up as well about the new school. Hell, he was still amped up about being a wizard! He did miss his mother....but she'd already promised to send lots of letters.
He began following suit, heaping food onto his own plate (Careful of course not to get anything meaty). "Heheh, thanks! Your shirt's really nice!" he replied, flowers were always a cute look, especially on a girl. And she seemed to be really colour co-ordinated. He had to appreciate her sense of style and decorum. Ah yes, his mother had instilled a hearty appreciation for style, perhaps why he himself had a rather loud choice of colours. They worked for him though.
"Not 't'all. Pretty hungry myself! That was a long train ride, huh?" He helped himself to a bite and decided he would rather enjoy not having to be the one cooking the food, they had some awesome chefs! "Oh man! I was so stoked to find out, I mean me 'n mom never knew anything like this existed! Heh....it took a couple letters for me to believe this was something series," he added, a small blush at his own scepticism. "What's Quidditch?" he asked in surprise.

"Hey thanks! Mom got this for me for my first day." she smiled, glancing down at her shirt to brush off a few crumbs. "I'm sure it was long yeah, but to tell the truth, I was so excited, it felt as if it just zipped on by for me."
Then she paused at his next statement.
Lil tipped her head at him for a moment before a huuuuuuuuuge grin spread across her face. He had no clue about Hogwarts, or Quidditch? Or wizards apparently? "Wait wait... are you...muggle born or something?! That's awesome!" she said excitedly, then made a face as if she probably shouldn't have said that out loud. She wasn't sure how other's felt here or if they were as accepting as she was and so lowered her voice just a bit. " Quidditch is a wizard sport. It's like...." she paused, trying to find the best way to explain it. "American Football crossed with basketball....and fetch..." she said and snorted at her explanation, laughing. "I'll fill ya in on details later. But each house here has its own team. I'm hoping to someday play for Slytherin!"
With that she scooted closer and peered at him expectantly as if he would just suddenly spill all his secrets while she proceeded to stuff some food into her mouth. Being around lots of guys, she often forgot that she was, in fact, a lady and should probably act like one. Her dad's side of the family had more muggles that were still alive and kicking than her mothers but she enjoyed being in their company all the same. "My two favorite Uncles aren't wizards. They taught me almost all I know about non wizarding sports." she said proudly, puffing out her chest a bit in pride, almost wiggling a bit. This girl just couldn't seem to sit still! It was as if she were itching to run and kick or toss a ball just from bringing up the conversation. "But my parents are both wizards and tell me a lot of things they used to do when they came here. They were both on their house's Quidditch teams. We also go to Quidditch tournaments as often as we can." she nodded, quite the sports enthusiast. "I'm curious about you though." she smiled and chewed, flicking her head to flip her hair from one side to the other.

"No, I'm....half I think?" he said, in no way embarrassed about his family. "I mean, I think dad was a wizard, but we're not sure. Mom's a muggle, runs a company.....my family isn't too exciting," he said, offering a shrug. To be fair though, to him wizards were WAY cooler than muggles, it was so much....different than what he was used to!
That sport sounded fun though! He couldn't wait to see it being played! Maybe he'd be allowed to watch the practice? But if it WAS The sport of the wizarding world that might be something to try to get into as well, he wanted to learn everything he could about the magical world that had been prior hidden to him, his mother hadn't been able to help any and his father....well, hard to ask someone that wasn't there. Ah well, the muggle world had been plenty exciting for a while, but the excitement of the new was just something else.
"Wow..." he mused. He did like sports...."So are you from a wizarding family? Or half? Man.....that's so cool though that you were raised around it!" She really was fascinating to him, it must've been something to live in a family that knew about magic....maybe she had a bunch of really cool spells she could show him! Well, if nothing else he would love to learn how to play Quidditch from her, he was, after all, quite fond of sports. Her lack of lady-ness didn't bother him in the slightest, rather he was happy to find someone else that was interested in sports.

The way he worded his next few words made her tone down her excitement just a bit. "Oh... so you don't really know your dad? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry..." she said softly, running her fingers through her hair, lost for a few seconds in thought. "My family is mixed. My parents are both wizards, but my Grandma is not and my two uncles aren't either. But we are all very close and have always been so.. so I sorta just assume others are too." she shrugged, munching on a bit of food and staring into her plate.
However she shrugged it off and put back on her enthusiastic grin. "Exciting family or not, I think your pretty cool so far Ashe." she said and grinned, slapping him on the back like some guys do as a greeting. "I think we should definitely hang out some time! I'd love a partner to toss a ball with sometime!" she beamed and flexed her arm, showing off a bit of tone to it. "I used to practice with my dad a lot and also with my little brother before I came here."

"OH! NO! Don't worry about it!" he said, suddenly nervous, "No, I've got a good relationship with my family so it's really nothing big. I mean, ma is always around when I need her and my uncle is really good at being around as y'know, man of the family or whatever." Ashe had never paid much mind to his father in all honesty, he was never there to miss in the first place and any role he needed was filled by other family members. He really didn't think he was missing much just having an absent father. To be fair, the only time it felt awkward was when someone else thought they'd hurt his feelings...he wasn't exactly that sensitive about it.
He grinned again once she perked back up, excited once more over sports. She seemed to have a lot of healthy zest to her, he liked that in a new friend. "Yea! I actually brought a football we could kick around some time! Ma and I always used to watch the games! Just so long as we don't boot it into the forbidden forest," he laughed, remembering what the headmaster had mentioned about it being off limits. He wasn't really one for breaking the rules, especially over something as simple as a football. Although, he had to admit a bit of curiosity over why it would be forbidden.
Actually he was feeling all the more excited! Since they were in the same house it was likely they'd have all their classes together, it would be nice to know that he would already have a friend in his classes in case they needed to partner up.
(Also I should note; by football he means soccer, dem Brits and their footballs 8I!!)

"Well then no worries there sport!" she grinned at him saying it was all A-ok! What a relief to know she hadn't struck any bad cords. She would have hated to made a bad impression on a first meeting. "Being close with who you do have is what matters most!" she nodded and finished off her plate, taking a big glass of water and chugging it almost all down in one gulp.
At the mention of a football, she perked up and nearly spit out some water. Wiping her wrist across her mouth to dry it off, she peered at him, her green eyes wide. "NO. WAY. Me too! I got one last Christmas and I brought it to help remind me of home. First chance we get, I say we need to go out and have a few kicks as soon as we can!" she declared, her grin broadening as she turned her hands into fists and made a mini action like pose. It felt pretty great that the first person she really met from Slytherin was into sports too. Oh man was today one awesome day!
(I figured so XD Why i specified American Football haha <3)

He grinned back in relief, he was half worried she would start fretting over whether it really bothered him or something. His old friends in his muggle schools always tried to be extra sensitive (As if he needed it) and did things like avoided mentioning their own fathers when he was around. It was always odd to him, though, when he overheard them talking about their fathers when they thought he wouldn't hear. It wasn't as if it would be something to bother him, he wasn't nearly so sensitive.
"REALLY? AWESOME!" he said, not noticing other students eying them as the volume of their excitement grew. Both were far more excitable than the rest of the table it seemed, albeit, perhaps because everyone was fed and it was getting late. Ashe was never one to turn in early though, he would most likely be shaking hands halfway into the night. "You'll have to teach me all kinds of wizarding games and I'll teach you some muggle games!" Hell, he could ask his mom to send some more games, they had a bocce set at home, not every muggle had played that so maybe it was something she would find novel.

Avery laughed before slapping her hand to her mouth as a few looks were tossed her way. Some rather un approving looks. "Whhops... looks like I got too excited again." she smirked and made a silly face, sticking her tongue out as the others turned around so she couldn't see. She then shoved her plate out of the way and rested one arm on the table. "You have a deal my friend! My uncles have taught me some muggle games though... so you're gonna have to really surprise me." she smiled and ran her hand through her hair.
"Like chess, which is cool... but man wait till you play some wizard chest. That stuffs insane!" she grinned, remembering when her dad first showed her his rather old but still working set. She could still hear the laughter and the playful shouting as they played all hours into the night, watching the little pieces move across the board and shattering each other to bits before magically repairing themselves for the next game.

A quick look around made Ashe equally aware of how loud they were......AH WELL! They were first years and they were excited! Besides, the Hufflepuff table looked equally excited.....hm, actually they looked like a fun bunch, maybe he'd go pester some of them later. They were supposed to be excellent friends from what the hat had said. To be honest he was surprised he was put into Slytherin, it was hard for him to see himself as oddly determined though it was truth.
"Heheh! Don't worry, I got lots of board games and I can get mom to send me other stuff! We can set up like a mini golf range by the lake!" he said, excited though he would surely be even more excited had he known about the squid, "or a horseshoes pitch!" He paused to think a moment, she seemed like the type to like things like that, especially if she partook in the awesome victory dance that always ensued upon completion of a game. "Hmmm.....though for board games I think you might like Mouse Trap or Operation!" loud games were definitely the best, or games where you built stuff only to knock it down......actually he DID have some dominos too! He hadn't known how much free time he'd have and he'd much rather have games to play than books to read.

At the mention of a mini golf course near the lake, her eyes lit up and she laughed. "Regular golf gets soo tedious and boring sometimes.... but I bet with some magic we could make the most INSANE golf course ever!" she smiled and pumped her fist before blinking at him curiously.
Her uncles didn't have any kids her age as she grew up so board games weren't very common, just sport type games. "I'm not sure I'm familiar with those... they sound kind of familiar maybe?" she tilted her head and tapped her chin, trying to think. Was Operation one she saw on a commercial maybe? She couldn't really remember, but it didn't matter. It all sounded exciting right now and that's what counted!
"Ok so first things first, we probably need to figure out when we have free time. I'm going to assume we can't set up this epic course all in one day."she grinned and laughed. Her magic wasn't that strong.... not yet anyways. She also wanted to find out how to sign up for Quidditch teams... even if that meant waiting a year to do so.

That hadn't even occurred to him! Ashe had lived so long without any knowledge of magic that it never entered into his mind to try infusing a regular game with magic, he didn't know that was something possible! Hell, they could probably do the same to board games and make them more exciting! Man, how did he not die of boredom without magic? Everything was just so....exciting, and fresh, and new.
"Well.....maybe we'll find others that wanna help, but yea. This needs to be the BEST GOLF COURSE EVER. Obviously it'll take time. I think first we'll need to scope out the school, find out where would be the best places to put and what would make for the hardest holes. (DON'T EVEN! HE'S 11!!!!) Too bad the forest is off limits....." he definitely needed to take a walk around the school, he'd only gotten a small view on their way there and hadn't seen many places for good putting areas. Maybe in the gnarled roots of that old tree in the school yard? Might be hard to put it into just the right spot with those wizened branches and roots all over the place.

Avery thought hard about it before she realized she had very little knowledge of the school grounds herself just yet. She laughed and ran her hands through her hair. "I... think that is a good first step.... I'm not so familiar with the grounds myself yet.... but dude what if it like, covered the entire school grounds!" she laughed, her eyes wide and sparkling a bit as she thought about it.
That might be too impossible in itself, even with magic, but it would sure make for one really awesome golf course! And then a very far fetched crazy hair brained idea struck her. "What if it even extended.. INSIDE the castle!" she beamed, trying to imagine someone having to shoot a ball up into the tallest tower then hopping on a broom and flying up there to move from there..... actually it didn't sound half bad, but it was probably way off limits. A small sigh escaped her lips as she smiled and day dreamed. "Man if only..."
