It is a massive rift, large enough to put the grand canyon to shame. Without tectonic plates of any kind, Hueco Mundo does not have earthquakes, so whatever caused this was a person. More importantly, it happened a very long time ago. There were the crystalline trees of a Menos Forest all along the taller cliff face, which towered over the other by a good five hundred meters, and the sand near the edge had long ago spilled into the gap. Visible to the west, on the lower side, is a conspicuous granite mountain whose top had been sheered off long ago.
