The Ysali dragon incident was behind her now. Kamala's leg was completely healed and only a little stiff; she could almost fully extend it, though not with a little effort. All her other minor bites and cuts were smoothed over as if they'd never existed. More importantly than physical wounds, however, was the fact that Kamala felt no desire to hunt down the remaining dragon and his offspring. Even dragons deserved their childhood. Besides, Kamala thought with a little cynical snort, she had to leave a few Ysali dragons to grow and replenish the population, for future hunts. Ysali dragon orbs were especially precious to Kamala, as Ysali Drakein.
So yes, all was well and good. Honestly, it was kind of boring. Well and Good Times gave Kamala nothing else to do but think, and thinking was no fun. For example, there was still something bothering her about how the entire Ysali dragon thing had gone down. Specifically, where had the Ayrala dragons come from? Or, rather, she knew that they had likely come from Ayr. But what were they doing so far from their homeland? From what she knew -- and admittedly she never really bothered to learn that much about dragon lore -- Ayrala dragons lived exclusively in the skies of Ayr and did not often stray into other territories. The distance was another issue. Even Eowyn was more likely, but as far south as Serenia?
Maybe she was overthinking it, but maybe not.
Well, Kamala had been staying in the Serenian mountains for a bit too long anyway, and she was feeling fidgety for some new sights. Perhaps it is time for a little trip to Ayr, Kamala thought.

It felt good to travel again. There was something wonderfully soothing about flying over miles and miles ocean -- not that there was anything wrong with flying over the lands of Serenia, with all its mountains and forests and fields and lakes, but the change of scenery was quite refreshing. Even more thrilling was the anticipation of seeing a whole other continent beyond that ocean, with terrain and creatures and sights she had yet to encounter.
She stopped by Eowyn briefly, just for a moment to rest and feel soil beneath her claws once more. Eowyn had never been exactly her favorite continent to visit, what with the arid climate in the north and the lava-strewn south. But there was a certain charm to the great expanse of desert. Sort of like the ocean, only drier and sandier and significantly less blue.
And then she was off again, her high spirits rejuvenated now that she was on her way to Ayr. She had never been to Ayr before, though she had heard that it was a place of magnificent and dangerous winds. Maybe she would see a hurricane -- even better, maybe she could fly through a hurricane.
She spotted three shadows in the fog above moving fast. Almost as fast as her, she noted with some slight irritation To console herself, she sped up, childishly racing the hapless creatures above. "Almost as fast," she murmured to herself smugly as she shot ahead of them. With a tremendous beat of her wings and an adjustment to the angling of her tail, Kamala shot upward. She burst through a layer of cloud in front of three very surprised Ayrala dragons. Kamala whirled through the air to face them, wings outstretched.
"I'd like to talk," Kamala said.

The dragons didn't answer, just blew right past her. Well, that was rude. Kamala fell in line behind the Ayrala dragons, keeping up with their swift pace with ease. Not for the first time, Kamala silently thanked the gods for her Alkein feathers and speed. "Hey," Kamala called. "I'm talking to you!" She swooped around to the other side of the three-dragon cluster, appealing to this other dragon. "Really, I only want to talk," she pestered.
The dragon, without breaking a stride (or a flap, technically), backhanded Kamala lightly with his wing. The blow was gentle enough to not cause even any unserious damage -- but firm enough to be obviously deliberate. And offensive. Kamala snarled and swung into the dragon's side, roughly jostling him in return. "I said, I only want to talk," she growled.
The dragon growled in return and snapped his teeth at her.
Oh, that was the last straw. "I'm going to change that to wanted to," Kamala said, and attacked. Since they were in the air, Kamala aimed for the dragon's back, and she almost made it -- but apparently the Ayrala dragons were in fact slightly faster than Kamala, and this one's reflexes were particularly good. He attempted a barrel roll to avoid Kamala's claws, but only made it part of the way; her grip dug deep into one shoulder and hip. Roaring his pain, the dragon and Kamala plummeted through the skies. The other two dragons called after them in shock, concern, and anger before spiraling after them.
Far below the clouds now, Kamala and the first dragon continued to hurtle downward. He tried to claw her back, but it was an awkward reach, and he only managed to scratch her tail by chance. Kamala barely even noticed the superficial wound, instead focusing on digging her claws in deeper. With effort, she flipped him, exposing the underside of his neck. One slash and a gargling death cry later, the dragon dissolved to reveal a beautiful silver orb. Kamala caught it with one hand and put it in her travel bag.
But she had forgotten about the dragon's companions, and once again underestimated their speed. She found herself suddenly buffeted between two opposing wind forces, and her head rattled in her skull as she was tossed back and forth. Was this a hurricane? Kamala wondered. But no; it was simply the other two dragons, caging her in a miniature maelstrom created by their wings. "Stop it!" Kamala tried to shout, but her words were lost in the wind. Eventually, the dizziness overwhelmed her, and her conscious mind was lost to the wind too.
