Description

Otogakure (音隠れの里, Otogakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden by Sound") was the personal hidden village of Orochimaru, which was founded for the express purpose of collecting ninja for his experiments and his quest to learn all techniques.

Founding

Initially, Orochimaru claimed that he founded this village so that skilled ninja would find their purpose in life without being beholden to the fickle and warmongering priorities of the Five Great Shinobi Countries. In actuality, Otogakure is not really a village, but a giant laboratory composed of various hideouts and bases scattered throughout the Land of Sound and various other countries. Otogakure's shinobi use a diverse amount of techniques, which are mostly centred around the modifications resulting from Orochimaru's human experimentation.

And Now

With the rise of the new Otokage, the Hidden Sound Village has been reformed in many ways. The experimentation of human beings is no longer practiced. Otogakure is now a growing village, where people from different walks of life have set root. Some are displaced from war, while others were runaways seeking a new home. All are welcome in Otogakure.

When one passes through the Dragon Arch, they enter a village that has a much different architectural styling from the other villages. The buildings have a flair of something from lands far from the shinobi, like something you'd find in a land surrounded by forests and mountains. The most striking feature is how the buildings have crystal fixtures atop them, and even as parts of the siding and foundations. When the sun is in just the right spot, the village glitters like millions of stars upon the earth.
