▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Tuning is the process of refining a pair of Air Treks to better optimize the individual performance of a Rider's road. This can vary in complexity depending on the Tuner themselves. There are three different types of tuning processes:

Basic Tuning, simple maintenance on one's Air Treks in order to optimize the performance of otherwise basic parts such as replacing bolts, screws, and batteries.

The second, is Custom Tuning. This is a more advanced form of tuning that allows the Tuner to alter or produce a pair of Air Treks that use more complex parts, replacing the older parts, in order to increase the efficiency of one's Air Treks. This can be anything from removing the Air Treks speed limiter to installing a different type of cushioning system to changes in wheel-type to completely rebuilding them from scratch for unique effects.

Link Tuning is the third form. The most difficult process of tuning reserved only for the wielders of the Regalia, the Kings and Queens of their Road. It involves a high-class (A-Rank) tuner matching the King or Queen's biorhythm to the Regalia in order to unlock its full potential and usage.

The degree to which a pair of Air Treks can be altered depends on the rank and talents of a tuner. Tuning can only be done by riders of the Ring Road.

Rules of Tuning

Tuners are allowed to tune themselves and other riders. This Tune-Up does not affect how much a tuner may tune nor may the Tuner boost their [ Forge ] stat. The amount a tuner can tune is derived from their [ Forge ] stat, and similar to the regular Storm Rider READ, a tuner is "ranked" based on the points they have in their Forge stat. Should a Tuner have 140 points in their Forge stat, then they'd be a "B Rank" Tuner.

EX: A Tuner has 100 points as their [ Forge (READ) ]. That means, they're able to tune 25 points onto a pair of AT [ Formula = READ / 4 = Tune Amount ]. For individual TU's on a pair of AT's, you divide the stat itself by [4] to get the TU for that stat. EX: A tuners stats are 40 ACC / 30 STR / 20 STA / 20 JMP. That means they can tune for 40/4, 30/4. 20/4, 20/4, as a whole, but not exceeding the maximum of [ 40 ] points for a full tune-up.

All Tune-Ups affect the Rider's Air Treks and only their Air Treks, not their actual body. If they take off their Air Treks they lose their Tune-Up bonuses. All costs must be paid at the time of tuning. Tune-Ups must be performed at the tuner's shop, home or at a base. Furthermore, a Tuner may not construct, tune, or alter parts or treks that are higher than their rank. Meaning a B Rank Tuner can only effectively alter or craft B Rank and below technology.

Basic Tuning

The basics of tuning involve replacing the basic frame, aligning wheel bearings, replacing generic brands with better quality, more name brand parts, oiling gearboxes, replacing batteries, etc.

Basic Tuning is not to be confused with Custom-Tuning. No additional or custom equipment or parts are added to a pair of Air Treks that have been Basic Tuned, and as such only the current parts have been optimized for better performance. This results in a stat bonus depend on the [ Forge ] stat of the Tuner but do not allow for the special effects. Basic Tuned A-Ts do not receive effects and therefore have no corresponding rank at which to be worn, unlike Custom-Tuned A-Ts.

A pair of Air Treks cannot exceed +40 stat point Tune Up. Negative tunes (removal of stat points from one area to be placed in another) do not subtract from the +40 gain. If you have an Air Trek set that does -5 Strength and +10 Stamina, you are still 10/40 in your tune-up limit. For every [ 4 ] points the tuner has in their [ Forge ] stat they can add a single point to a rider's Air Treks (4:1 ratio). This number is always rounded down. Tuners can not tune Air Treks past the amount of stats which they are capable of tuning; in other words, you cannot "stack" tuning points. That means a tuner cannot repeatedly enhance one specific area several times to reach the +40 Limit (e.g. being able to tune for +20 strength and doing it twice). Instead, it will just override the previous Tune-Up if it is higher than the tune before it. The tuner can, however, give multiple tune-ups in different areas at the same time; meaning should the tuner have 100 forge stat points, they can apply +10 strength, +10 stamina, and +5 jump, so long as the total does not exceed the limitation of 25 due to the ratio.

Basic Tuning Ryo Cost

Tuners must spend a specific amount of time tuning a pair of Air Treks, usually, this is done within a post that is dedicated to it. Your writing must be related to tuning! Quoting lyrics, poems, having a full-length flashback is not allowed. Your post doesn't have to be fully devoted to tuning, but a good portion of it must. Keep in mind your Forge stat will only allow you apply so many TU points but due to the rising cost of Air Trek parts, it also requires tuners to utilize Ryo in the "forging" process; the cost requirement coincides with the tuner's [ Forge ] stat rank, an emphasis that the higher the tuner is, the better the quality:

F Rank Forging: +5 TU per 25 Ryo
E Rank Forging: +5 TU per 50 Ryo
D Rank Forging: +5 TU per 75 Ryo
C Rank Forging: +5 TU per 100 Ryo
B Rank Forging: +5 TU per 150 Ryo
A Rank Forging: +5 TU per 200 Ryo
Pledge King/Queen Forging: +5 TU per 250 Ryo

Tuner Stat Gain

It was once thought that Tuners ride on a rather passive road, rare for them to participate in Parts Wars but this isn't always necessarily true. Each Tuner is unique; some are seen as a more medical force in the Storm Rider world and others can be a force to reckon with, bringing an ample array of tech to battles that may surprise you. At their base, however, tuners are mechanics. They hone their craft and talents through working on Air Treks and increase their [ F O R G E ] through attaining a higher READ. The more time you put in under the hood, the better you'll be overall, and the more you'll grow.

The creation of custom gear and repairing A-Ts requires a significant amount of knowledge about technology and the inner workings of Air Treks. In order to produce and repair such equipment, it can become quite costly as it can be difficult to get a hold of the necessary materials. Customized technology are unique parts, pieces, and machinery that Tuners create to completely distinguish one rider from the next. Whether it's a high-class part attached to an Air Trek to optimize its efficiency in a certain area or a fully operable weapon created through Air Trek Technology. Just like with tuning there are three different types of Air Treks:

Tuned Air Treks - Stock/generic parts that are optimized by a tuner to provide a stat boost

Custom Air Treks - Custom parts fitted by a tuner or rider to produce effects without a stat boost.

Custom-Tuned Air Treks - Custom parts fitted by a tuner and tuned for optimal performance; these receive both stat boosts and effects

Rules of Customs and Repairs

Tuners may customize their own Air Treks and make Air Trek weaponry, but they must pay the Ryo costs (there are no exceptions). Anything crafted by the Pledge Regalia, Axis, is unbreakable. Pledge items will stop working when they reach 100% Wear but they will not be destroyed like regular Air Treks. All customs must be approved in the Custom Air Trek Technology Approval thread before they can be created in-character. All costs must be paid at the time of creation. A-Ranked Custom-Tuned Air Treks can withstand an additional 15% Wear before succumbing to their damages and falling apart. King/Queen-Ranked Custom-Tuned Air Treks can withstand up to an additional 25% Wear before succumbing to their damages and falling apart.

Parts

Parts are what make up one's Air Treks, it is their body, system, and soul. Specialized parts can come in all sorts of shapes and sizes each with varying effects. Air Treks can be attributed with a maximum of four slots to properly manage the effects of these parts. The higher the rank of the A-Ts the more slots allotted. Only tuners may create and sell parts and they must be submitted for approval first. Each part must be in a different location on the Air Treks (for example a pair of A-Ts cannot have two different wheel types, or two motors in the same place running at the same time). Beginner riders who have just been introduced to the world of the Storm Riding world will have little to no knowledge regarding them.

It is only after they (their Forge stat) reach D-Rank that the understanding of Air Treks and its inner workings will become clearer to them. As such only those with a Forge stat of D-Rank and above have the ability to properly understand, use, and equip their own parts for their effects. However, as a rider's skill increases so, too, does their access to all sorts of various tools and parts. For example, a C-Class rider would be able to use both C and D Ranked parts, but a D-Class rider would only have access to D Ranked parts. The peak of this pyramid is the echelon of all parts, the Regalia. Due to their powerful abilities, Regalia, by nature are invasive and can interfere with the structure of one's A-T, Once activated it will deactivate any tunes, tricks boosts, and effects from other parts unless that part is specifically made to correspond with the Regalia.

Parts by themselves do not effectively increase the performance of Air Treks and as such cannot provide an increase stats. Only a tuner has the ability to bring out the full potential of a set of parts by performing a Tune-Up. However, both Tuners and Riders are able to install parts on their own, the only exception to this being Regalia. Which must be installed by a Tuner.

Parts Costs

F Rank: 100 Ryo
D Rank: 250 Ryo
C Rank: 500 Ryo
B Rank: 750 Ryo
A Rank: 1000 Ryo
King/Queen Rank: 2000 Ryo

Custom-Tuning

An advanced form of tuning that can only be performed by a tuner who is D-Class or higher. It is the upper echelon of customization and a necessity for those who want both custom effects and the performance enhancement of a Tune-Up. Custom-Tuning requires completely rebuilding a pair of Air Treks from the ground up to synchronize performance with efficiency and aesthetics. From wheels to motors, to new aerodynamic systems, to no cushioning and even exterior design, everything has been completely overhauled to specifically forge a pair of Air Treks solely tailored for the client. This also includes appearance and other subtle details.

The benefit of Custom-Tuned Air Treks is no other rider in the world will have the same parts (as they have been personally created for one individual) and tuning setup, in comparison with regular Custom Air Treks which may have parts anyone can generally purchase. Custom Air Treks also lack the optimization of parts provided by a Tuner during a Tune-Up. Also due to the extensive procedure, tuners are able to install all four parts on a pair of Custom-Tuned Air Treks simultaneously. And just like the ranks of parts, Custom-Tuned Air Treks can only be created and used by Tuners. The amount of Ryo exchanged is as followed by rank:

D Rank: 500 Ryo | +TU Forging Rate of (+5 TU per 50 Ryo) | 1 Custom Part Slot
C Rank: 1000 Ryo | +TU Forging Rate of (+5 TU per 100 Ryo) | 1 Custom Part Slot
B Rank: 1500 Ryo | +TU Forging Rate of (+5 TU per 150 Ryo) | 2 Custom Part Slots
A Rank: 2000 Ryo | +TU Forging Rate of (+5 TU per 200 Ryo) | 3 Custom Part Slots | +15% Wear
Pledge King/Queen Rank: 4000 Ryo | +TU Forging Rate of (+5 TU per 150 Ryo) | 4 Custom Part Slots | +25% Wear

The reason for the increasing cost in comparison to regular tuning by rank is the increasingly varied effects afforded by higher ranked parts.

It should be noted that it is possible to "Rank Up" a Custom-Tuned pair of Air Treks that started at D Rank. Each increased rank of Air Trek requires +250 Ryo, along with the standard exchange for Tune-Ups if altering them. Before a Custom-Tuned pair of A-Ts can be created/modified, you must have them approved in the Custom Air Trek Technology Approval thread.

Air Trek Weapons

C-Class tuners gain the ability to craft Air Trek weaponry. These weapons take any form the mind can imagine by taking advantage of the powerful technology of Air Treks. As with Custom Air Treks, there are limits, ranks, costs, and rules. Your post doesn't have to be fully devoted to crafting, but a good portion of it must. You must first get your "blueprint" for the weapon approved in the A-T Technology Approval Thread before you can start crafting. A-T Technology follows the same Wear System as Air Treks:

C Rank: 500 Ryo
B Rank: 750 Ryo
A Rank: 1000 Ryo
King/Queen Rank: 2000 Ryo

Repairs

A proficient rider of any road can perform basic level maintenance on a pair of Air Treks to reduce the Damage Level From Yellow to Green Only a Tuner can repair A-Ts in the Red. An A or King/Queen Ranked tuner is the only one able to repair a Regalia. Ryo costs must be paid for AT repairs and Regalia repairs, this should also be noted in in-character that the character is performing the repairs and linked in the update. Repairs that take Air Treks that are still Green back to 0% can be done by anyone but there is still a need to pay for the parts used to do so. Your post doesn't have to be fully devoted to repairs, but a good portion of it must.

AT Green: 100 Ryo
AT Yellow: 200 Ryo
AT Red: 400 Ryo
Regalia Yellow: 800 Ryo
Regalia Red: 1,600 Ryo

Link Tuning

Link-Tuning is the highest and most complicated level of tuning. A harmonization of both biology and mechanical science between Rider and Regalia is via Tuner is needed for this process to be successful. By listening to a King's or Queen's biorhythm with the aid of an S.C. suit. An S.C Suit is a skin tight, elastic, and translucent, containing 7600 sensors within its fabric. Tuners also can carry a small machine that resembles a stenographer's typewriters. This machine allows them to monitor and re-tune regalia on the fly. A tuner matches the physical attributes of a rider specifically with his or her Regalia to maximize efficiency. Due to both the intimacy and complex nature of the process, the Link Tuner (as they are known) becomes a King's lifeline. The Regalia, King, Air Treks and Tuner all become linked together in completely harmony and synchronization, bringing out the full power of a King and his Regalia.

A minimum of 250 words from the King and the Tuner each must be written to create the Link. Your post doesn't have to be fully devoted to tuning, but a good portion of it must talk about the tuning and its process and the current thoughts and actions of both Tuner and Rider during the Link Tuning process. Of course being a Link Tuner is not without its own set of rules:

  • Only Link Tuners can perform stat transfers on Regalia (with the proper trick located in the Trick Library). Negative transfer can not surpass -40.
  • Linked Regalia restore the Air Trek's wear by 50% when activated. Unlinked Regalia restore nothing.
  • Unlinked Regalia only give half the original statistical bonus when activated.
  • Link Tuning cannot be done in battle. It can ONLY be done in the privacy of one's Base, Shop, or Home.

Owning a shop can be a big responsibility, but can also be a lot of fun! Feel free to create a place to do your work while your friends hang out, but please remember to follow the simple rules of owning a shop.

Rules of Shop Owning

Shop owners must follow the costs set forth for customs, tuning, and repairs. We encourage tuners to increase prices in order to make a profit. The prices listed above are "paid out" for supplies and do not go directly to the tuner.

Free Tech Listed in all Tuner Shops.

This is free tech listed in all shops for tuners to use and apply to riders Treks. Think of them as typical market stock parts you can grab for the everyday tuner.

Stock Parts

Thick'em Wheelz
__ ○ A set of four ball roller type wheels designed by the CC's preteen tuner team for their Lather riders. These mid-sized orbs are made with vertical slits and grooves. When revved upon slick surfaces or water tops the minuscule lines cause waves of small bubbles. These waves actually help to keep the rider passively afloat when on a large enough body of water. If used by a Lather Rider specifically the wheels allow for the user's use of the "Bubbly" road technique without wear cost. Technology type //Tech Rank: C

Ari Ari~! Capsules x2
__ ○ The "Ari Ari~!" consist of an unconventional set of capsules that sit on top of the skates. Though they appear as simple aesthetic clips there use is much more. These capsules are actually embedded in the fabric of the skate's boot shape and connect to the underside between the front and back wheels. Working in twos (four clips per A-T) the miniature quick-use capsules release steady streams of compressed air for the rider to mediate with. This would decrease the prerequisite's for most projectile type A-T technique, allowing the user to fire off either two mid tier [ C Rank ] or one high tier [ B Rank ] attack per kicking leg. Characteristics of a run such as dashing, gaining lift, and et cetera are not required when these parts take effect, meaning quicker fire/defensive maneuvers/acceleration dependent on the type of trick. The "Ari Ari~!" even allow for the use of wind mediating techniques in areas where no wind is blowing. This can either be a temporal counter to a great weakness or an unexpected trump card in a tense run situation.

> These A-T parts are not compatible with Ball Roller type A-T. Only two wheel designs lest they are custom configured to accommodate the part. Technology type //Tech Rank: B.

►Pivot Pro Accel Infinite Degree
__ ○The Pivot Pro Accel come in the form of a bow roller type wheel and frame set. Similar to ball rollers, the wheels are now completely spherical. The difference lies in the size and number of wheels. As well the mechanics in terms of motion are vastly different. Bow roller type wheels rotate omnidirectionally instead of forward and backward. This modification is difficult to get used to at first but, with experience, the accustomed rider can have their skates take all of the stress from making full turns away. Passively simplifying the motion theory required in spin type moves results in the user's A-T taking no stress from certain techniques: Upper Soul Roll 23, Spinning Wall-ride Over bank 1800°, Digger Wasp Lock, and Spiral Spin Wall-ride 999 Sidewinder become usable without any wear cost whatsoever. Technology type //Tech Rank: D

Stick-et' AHS
__ ○ The Stick-et' AHS is a replacement to the A-T's generic air cushioning system. It initially comes as a lift kit consisting of new springs, shocks, linkages, and et cetera. When installed in the treks no difference is noticeable. The change internally is to that of an air hydraulics system. The new system, upon being triggered, forces the skates to take on a 'raised' or 'lowered' appearance dependent on the pressure applied in relation to the surface rode upon. This either adds another two to three inches to the rider's height or lowers it by a single inch. The naturally adjusting change allows for an enhanced 'off road' riding experience; that is, in terms of scaling objects. As long as the rider retains acceleration the A-T will now shift, tilt, and droop (forward or backward) accordingly to best fit the rider's situation in terms of maintaining ground. Riders equipped with Stick'et AHS are capable of riding up vertical surfaces with less strain, upside down for extended periods of time, and up steep inclines with limited decrease in rate of motion. When performing leaps the skates will raise, propulsion sending the rider up as though they were in use of the traditional system. The opposite happens in the case of hard landings where the A-T will close and lower before adjusting to normality. This serves as a buffer to leg damage from falls normal A-T systems would not be able to decrease. Technology type //Tech Rank: D

Ryo

Tuners can exchange 1,000 Ryo for 1 stat point (excluding their Forge stat), however, if you use this formula of trading Ryo for Stat Points you are no longer eligible for a Road Change or a Character Change unless that character is also on the Ring Road.

Shop Thread

You can create your shop in any Roleplay sub-forum (Tokyo, Japan, or International). It costs nothing to open up your own shop. The description of your shop can be anything you want. We ask that you keep your first post up to date with the current Tune Ups your character can provide or a link to your tuner's profile. We suggest you also have a list of your prices. Remember that the "Ryo cost of tuning/repairs/customs" listed in this forum does not go to the tuner, but is the price you have to pay in order to perform your duties and will be deducted at the time of creation.
