On a whim Candace had decided to visit the library. It had been some time since she had, and she did have a few things she wanted to look up. Anything that could help her help Nevada, ideas on her problem with Roland not listening to her, things for Stormy to do, and just a general brushing up on knowledge on various different topics.
The library was usually quiet, but there were always Hunters in it, trainees learning about different months and creatures.
There was one in particular who had gotten her attention, one whose coat proudly showed the Mist insignia on its back. He seemed to be frustrated about something and she did vaguely remember him from the cruise dinner.
"Something wrong?" She asked quietly as she approached the young man, putting a hand on the back of his chair and looking over his shoulder.

Dorian had slowly dwindled in to his little funks - he had been in the library for hours on end, a small little pile of books around him and a journal in hand, scribbles ranging from legible to black marks and stupid doodles littering the pages. On the top of the page, in french, it was written Opération Lire améliorer votre anglais - Operation Read Better English.
It was easy when he was travelling - he could usually seek a french-speaker while he was on his feet, but now he was stagnant in Deus, which was a primarily English-centered community, he was finding himself hitting walls here and there. He needed to get better.
Hearing the soft voice behind him had him jump a little, his mind addled by the muddling of french and English, and Justice quipping here and there when she could about his inability to read certain sentences. Teal eyes snapped up to her and widened a bit before turning down at the books in his wake.
"Uhh, I am . . ." He started, making a little hand wave to it all, "Trying to read. It iz'not going as well as I thought." He admitted, frowning a little, figuring there was no reason to skirt around the truth. "J'ai seulement commencé anglais récemment. Uh - I 'ave only a little english under my belt." Turning back to his books, he waved lazily to the chair near him, in case she wished to sit with him - he remembered her from the dinner, lightly. Frowning for a second, he worked back in to his history, before nodding.
"Mmm, Candace, oui?"

Candace looked down at the books opened up in front of the young man as well as the journal. Opération Lire améliorer votre anglais? Well..operation...English? She didn't know what the rest said but she had a feeling it involved learning English. He even explained it when he said he was trying to read and it wasn't working out. Right. Gotcha. She smiled, taking the seat offered to her. "Yeah, I'm Candace. Dorian, right? I remember you. Is Deus treating you well? I've been meaning to find you anyway, since you're a Mist." She looked down at the books. Hm. "Would you like some help? It's apparently easier to learn a language from someone who speaks it than it is from just some book."

He couldn't help but return her smile, a little half-hearted grin showing on his face as she went to sit down - he could think of a couple women who would have kindly told him to ******** off and learn on his own, (usually out of their own taste of kindness,) so her softness was rather nice.
"I can't complain." he started, shrugging a little at his answer, turning back to his book. "There is a lot of . . . Allsorts, 'ere. Keeps it interesting, oui?" He admitted to her, giving her another ghost of a smile at that, feeling rather appreciated by her - especially since they were in the same division.
"Mais, Any 'elp would nice. ******** if I could do it alone, it seems." He figured, tapping his book's edge like 'useless thing.'

"Haha, yes. Very rarely a dull moment around here." Candace chuckled, picking up one of the books Dorian had been looking through. Hm. "It's not a problem, Dorian. So where are you from? France?" She'd never taught anyone a language before..where to begin?

"I 'ave been to France, for a few months, mais, not from there entirely. It was a nice place, easy to get around." He admitted, giving her a little grin, and a wave of his hand. "Mais, I am from Quebec - Canada, is very .. ehh." He paused, trying to find the correct word, "Rural. There is a law in my 'ome-province that most of all text 'as to be 80 percent french. So, I never 'ad time to learn to read English, fully. . . " He trailed off a bit, giving her a soft look.
"But, when you 'ave countries that learn multiple languages, you 'ave a better chance of talking your way out, you know?
