Char had never been so tired in all her life. Well, that was a lie. She was certainly more tired after her very first Dragon experience. Tired and depressed and scared and alone and loads of other things that made an awful combination. At least now she was in this nice, secluded area that was quiet except for the gentle sounds of the wind against the rocks she was using as refuge. She really had wanted to go back to her ship... Her arm hurt and Kayden would be there to reassure her and hug her and make her feel better about the day's failures. Right now, she wanted those things, but did she need them...? Probably. But she couldn't even try to coax herself to move the heavy boulder that kept her safe in her niche. It was probably too much for her now, anyway... All she wanted was a little rest...

"Charlotte! Where are ya, lass?!" Even the familiar voice was hardly enough to rouse her... Still, if she didn't answer, Kayden would probably never find her little hidey hole. And if he didn't, how was she to get out? If he didn't come to her rescue, she'd probably pass out and never wake up again... She had to get his attention now.

The blond girl groaned as she picked her head up from the rocks. "Kayden!" She howled in response. Her voice was plenty loud in the confines of her sanctuary, but she had no idea if the sound was blocked too much for the Dovaa to hear... "I'm in here!" She called desperately, hoping the noise carried despite the buffer between them. It was impossible to tell.

There was quiet for a bit, and Charlotte's lids started to droop again. She started to partially believe she imagined his voice in her skewed state. Then suddenly, the voice was closer, nearly right on top of her if it weren't for the rocks. "Are you in there, Char?" Kayden asked. His voice was curious and a bit confused, but also relieved.

The Orderite sighed, happy she wasn't delirious, yet. "Yeah..." Charlotte grumbled, only able to be half-ashamed by the admission. If he'd wandered all the way out here, he must know at least a little of her endeavors. The embarrassment would come later. Mostly, she was tired, though. Her Dovaa friend could feel however he felt and Char didn't think she'd care at all right now, even if he laughed at her. "I'm stuck." She told him truthfully. Kayden was smart and strong and loyal. Now that he knew where she was, he wouldn't leave without her. Charlotte leaned back again, slowly letting her lids drift closed. She was safe now...

She didn't even hear the scrapping sounds of the boulders being moved. Hardly noticed when the Dovaa's arm snaked into the cavern, grabbing one of her ankles and trying to gently tug her free. Even Kayden was too tall to fully enter the rocky cluster, and had to settle for pulling her free. Char roused a bit as she was pulled across the ground, but only for a moment; only long enough to wrap her slim arms around Kayden's neck.

He hoisted her up, carrying her like the young, dependent child she was. He'd hoped that she'd be able to walk. He couldn't wield his bow, or any weapon at all, for that matter, with her clinging like this. Their best hope was to not run in to any dragons at all. Charlotte winced and whimpered as Kayden unknowingly brushed against her injured arm, burying her face into his neck. Ah, he'd have to move quickly, as well...

Hefting her up, the horned man set off at a run. Unfortunately, as he trotted to the top of a small rise, happy to see over the top, he looked down... and saw a family of three of the beasts. There was no way around them. the small group was fighting over a piece of meat, so maybe Kayden could just sneak by... The thought was dashed when one of them looked up from its meal and caught his eye. The Dovaa went on alert, shaking Charlotte awake and letting her down to the ground gently. "Here, Char." He whispered, taking a dagger from his boot and handing it to her.

She blearily accepted, fumbling with the blade a bit. Sure, she could skin a fish easily and effortlessly, but she wasn't too adept a fighter with a blade. She was a bit muddled, but it only took her a minute to spy the problem at hand. More Dragons. Just the sight of them wore her out. Charlie groaned and really hoped Kayden wouldn't have any issues with them... By the time she thought this, his bow was out and strung, and the first Dragon that noticed them was already pierced with an arrow through the eye.

The roar of fury it emitted alerted its two companions and they charged full speed to the two-leggers. The third was only a beat behind. Speared or not, it wasn't going down without a fight. Kayden shuffled away from her, notching another arrow and letting it fly. Charlotte wanted to stay close to him and tried to sidle nearer, only to have a set of claws come lashing in her direction. She squealed and ducked away. "Go to the ship!" Kayden commanded, his voice firm.

Charlotte's pink lips parted to argue, but a muzzle of sharp teeth in her face cut her short, and she dove to the ground to get away. She slashed at it with the knife, cutting deeply through its nose. It was difficult to tell from her floored position, but she was pretty sure more arrows were getting stuck in its thick scales. Still feeling a bit dazed, Char hoped back to her feet. She glanced back to see Kayden holding his own, no surprise there... "Go on!" He called again. Gulping, Charlie nodded. She hustled down the hill, holding her little blade in front of her. It sure did seem like there were more than three dragons crashing about. Especially when one landed right before her, baring its teeth. Char didn't stop the momentum the hill gave her. She could hardly control it at all. Charging at full speed, she slammed the dagger into it's side, ducking away before it could retaliate. She didn't stop to see what damage had been done, just kept right on going down the hill. Slowly, the sounds of battle died as she moved farther and farther away... Hopefully, Kayden would be just fine...
