His shift was just about over and lucky for him it seemed to be a slow period, not a single kid admitted in the last hour and he just had five minutes left until it was time for him to call it quits.
He's been left mostly alone lately to do is thing when he was in the E.R. He was at the end of his residency and by Christmas he would be a full fledged doctor and he was feeling more and more confident as the days rolled by. December seemed more and more like an attainable goal.
Four minutes to go and Xander was heading out to put his white coat away. No blood or stains today on the quiet shift. Two minutes and he was grabbing his car keys and fiddling with his phone to check his messages. Finally time to clock out and Xander was headed to do just that. He need to rest a bit before he was out and about for a patrol.

Ian had been visiting his mother, something he did on occasion, in order to drop her some food. She was taking a double shift tonight as another person in her area had called in sick. So with the food dropped off and words said he too was headed out via the emergency room entrance/exit. His hands tucked into the pockets of the light hoodie he wore; it was thin despite being long sleeved. The people waiting in triage were looked at, a glance really, as most of them seemed to be minor things at glance over. It seemed like a peaceful night and knowing what he now did about the city and it's nights that was saying something.
He wasn't expect to nearly walk right into some red haired man. Turning to face the way he was going he noted the person just in time to jump back, startled green eyes wide. One hand clutched the henshin pen he had on him tighter, he kept it in the right pocket of his hoodie, while the other hand did something, he didn't know but his left hand was suddenly no longer in his pocket.
"Sorry!" The words forced past his lips quickly and with a bit of a high pitch to it, as though he'd startled himself badly - which he had. "I wasn't looking."

Xander had been saying goodbye to one of the nurses who sought to keep him, but he really had to go so he made quick goodbyes and ushered a quick lie when she seemed unwilling to part with him. He turned walking away only to stop and when a boy almost walked right into him.
Xander smiled at the other, "Its not a big deal. I should have maybe called out to you. I didn't mean to scare you," he said softly.
Xander gaze the boy a curious glance realizing that he was totally uninjured and looked rather familiar. He wondered for a second where he'd seen him before, but couldn't recall and settled for a simple, "You look really familiar. Hopefully for good reasons, or I'll look like a really bad doctor."
He didn't like the idea that he could possibly be forgetting the face of a patient.

"It's ok." Shaking his head as the hold on his pen loosened. It was one of those things people did, keep something in a pocket and hold onto it and grip it tighter when stressed or surprised. If it wasn't the henshin pen his hand would have just been holding the inside fabric of the hoodie pocket. It was just like people who couldn't help but be holding onto their cell phone in a pocket. It was just that it had gone from the pockets inside fabric to a henshin pen. He needed to keep it on him anyway and leaving it loose in his pocket ricked it dropping out, and he would not carry something on him to stuff it in to!
"I should have been paying more attention... - and umm I'm sorry again." He tried saying before wondering where the other thought he was familiar. Did the other know him? He was sure the other didn't but he was also sure that large amount of red curls was somehow familiar.
"I would think so....but I've never been a patient here." He was good about not getting hurt - how could he get hurt when he sat behind a computer more often then not? That didn't tend to lend itself to injuries and such. Though he wondered if he'd become familiar with the hospital now that his life had taken a sudden, and very drastic, change.

Xander hadn't really heard the second appology and didn't mind that the boy had nearly ran into him. It wasn't as if he actually had. Instead he wracked his brain trying to figure out why the other looked so familiar, it was somewhat of a passing glance familiarity, if that even made sense. It did to Xander at the moment.
Xander nodded when the other said he hadnt ever been a patient in the hospital. That made him relax slightly, but then he released that was probably why it was a passing familiarity for him then.
"So then you must be visiting someone. I've probably seen you past through before. Someone you know a patient here," he asked not really thinking about how the boy might not want to talk about such things, but Xander was really trying to figure it out. It was bugging him that he couldn't.

It was certainly a passing glance but that hair was rather hard to forget. From the curls, thick and many in number, but also red hair wasn't the most common of hair color. Although neither were many colors you saw around. But red was rather striking to be honest. So he was sure he'd seen it from somewhere here, but where?
"You work here?" He questioned. "What area?" He asked, to clarify his question.
"No - no. Not a patient. My mother works here - she's a nurse." He answered after a moment. The other thought he was here seeing a patient and he had to correct that, before the pity came and the feelings and such. He was here to drop food off before he'd head home, hopefully his father would be passed out somewhere. He didn't care to deal with his father really; then again when was he ever wanting to deal with the lush?

Xander nodded when the boy asked if he worked there and immediately replied with, "Emergency Pediatrics." It wasn't what he had intended at first, but he'd switched when he found out his sister was a senshi. She been hospitalized three times now since then and she was still under 21 so it was emergency pediatrics that cared for her. It was nice, soothing for him to be able to find out easily what was going on, to know instantly, even if of course he wasnt allowed to help.
The boy was saved from any feeling of sympathy from Xander when he said his mother was a nurse and then it was like a light bulb went off. "Of course that where I've recognize you from. You drop by from time to time. I've seen you wander through and wonder where you were going."
He laughed lightly, "its nice that you come visit your mom. I'm sure she appreciates it. I certainly appreciate it when my family drops by so long as its not you know an emergency situation."

"Oh! You have?" He asked, slightly embarrassed, as he stumbled over his words and ducked his head. "I come by when she's working a double shift to bring her dinner - it's better then cafeteria food." A home cooked meal was always better, especially if he came here as soon as it was done, leaving his father at home to get his fill. He would run the meal to his mother then come home and eat himself. She could reheat it if needed but it was as close to hot as he could get it for her.
"She does, she makes sure I know that." With those rather uncomfortable hugs and gushing words. His mother was the emotional sort, very loving and such, where as he was anything but. He was calmer, quieter, and in general more shy and socially awkward then his mother ever had been, would be, or was.
"So you know my mom?" He asked curious.

Xander nodded slightly, "yes, I will agree that a home cooked meal is better than cafeteria food, but you get use to it. I don't really cook, so I've not got much of a choice, though that might change soon." He looked a little lost in his own thoughts in that moment and nearly forgot her was having a conversation until the boy spoke again.
Xander blinked, "Yeah, that mother's for you. Especially mother who work in the hospital. They see a lot, many are I think overly appreciative is the correct term." He didn't really think how that could sound insulting, but it was already said.
When he asked if Xander knew his mom he thought for a moment, "probably, but I'm not very um good with people outside my own medical team. What's her name? Maybe I've worked with her before, if not we probably haven't talked."

"Ohh...Umm if you want when I come by with food for my mother I can bring some for you...I mean." Yes, he was stuttering and stumbling on his words as he rambled, wanting to be nice and offer, it seemed like the right thing to do. "I mean it would be nicer to have a home cooked meal especially when your working the job you do - makes you feel better having something home made." He answered, remembering what his mother often said about how home cooked meals made her feel when she worked here - especially when she'd had a rough shift.
"Yeah...my mother certainly is like that." He said after a moment, akward laughter punctuating his words. His mother was certainly the sort who appreciated what she had, and let him know it, as she often spoke about her bad cases. She hated those cases but they made her appreciate her own family and how safe they were, he just hoped he could remain safe now that he was a senshi. The idea of being hurt, or somehow killed, upset him terribly. He couldn't do that to his mother.
"Linore, Linore Bach is my mother." He didn't say which department, if the other didn't know her then it likely wouldn't help. And he doubted anyone else had his mothers name, so she would be easy to find if the other ever sought her out.

Xander smiled, but shook his head, "that's not really necessary, but thank you for the offer. I think maybe that should be something special for your mom." After all even though he worked at the hospital Ian didn't really know him and if he just felt it something he didn't want to intrude on. He was overly polite in that way.
He gave a small laugh at Ian's words, he certainly had his own fair share of over protective parents and he was certainly to old for it, but that was the way of things. They would always be that way, especially if they knew about him being a knight, but Lily had advised him that knowing about her was enough and him too would be too much.
Xander blinked at the name and flushed with embarrassment, "oh now I feel silly." He saw the resemblance now being faced with the name, he had his mother's hair even though his hair was different. "Your mother is on Dr. Adams team. He's my mentor, I'm completing my residency under him. I work with your mother on his team. I'm sorry I didn't realize that before." He gave a nervous laugh hoping his little oops wasn't mentioned to Linore."

Laughing he smiled. "My mother works with you." Repeating the others words, though slightly different, he felt himself brighten at that. "I hope you and my mother get along, I hope she gets along with everyone she works with - she doesn't like to bring certain things home." She brought some things home, it was hard not to, but there were other things which did not pass the front door. He hoped she got along with those she worked close to, especially those she worked closest with, he always hoped she got on well with those people. She spent so many hours here he just wanted her day, and nights, to be very good for her.
"Why do you feel silly now? Do we look or alike...or does she talk about me?" He asked pulling a bit of a face, the sort of face a child pulled when their mother wiped their face clean or talked about them too much. He was hoping his mother wasn't the sort, he didn't think she was, but he knew his mother was bigger with showing affection than he was. He was much calmer then his mother was, so he didn't do many things she did, and he hoped those was something she didn't even do.
Maybe he'd make a little extra food for his mother and give her a note to share it with her team? Maybe if he made enough for the team it would be ok? Because Xander here seemed nice and he liked talking to him. Was he actually...maybe...trying to make a friend somehow? It wasn't something he normally did, if ever really, and was unaccustomed to how to go about such and what was considered normal. (Do we wanna finish this later today? Like another post or two total? Maybe three?)

"Yes she does and the whole team gets on well enough. I'm still on residency, so its not officially my team, but your mom is nice to work with." He didn't really have any complaints with anyone in the hospital personally. They'd all been very helpful and supporting on his journey to becoming a full fledged doctor.
Xander gave a nervous laugh, hand heading to scratch the back of his head, "well the hair is different, but the eyes are the same. You have her eyes. Is that a weird thing to say." He gave a few more nervous chuckles before looking to his pocket where his phone buzzed and went silent.
He fished the thing out a envelope displayed on the screen letting him know he had a text message. It was from his sister, a reminder to meet her in the park. He frowned slight. "How did you get here? You didn't walk did you?"

"I'm sure it'll be your team soon enough. I'm glad everyone gets on so well. I hear some things, from my mother, but not everything." She did keep a lot to herself, while still sharing some things.
"It would be weird if it weren't true. So no, it's not weird. I also like my mothers eyes really." He sometimes wished he looked nothing like his father but some things simply couldn't be helped; like having the mans dark hair. His mother was a brunette while he and his father had darker hair.
"I did...I don't have a car." A shrug of his shoulders and a sheepish look given to the other. "I walk here all the time and back home, I'll be safe. But I should get going. I'm sure I'll see you again," And he was ready to head off for home on his own. He could, if he really wanted to, power up and head home that way - it would make things faster.

Xander smiled at the comment from the boy and hoped it lay true. He would like to continue working with Dr. Adams and his team. He like and trusted them all very much and he with the end of his residency fast approaching, he couldnt help but to wish for it.
Xander nervousness was put to rest when he was assured his comment wasnt weird. He wasnt good with conversation and he well knew it, but conversations were rather hard to avoid, so he just stumbled through one word at a time. He never understood how when it was time to work the words came easy, but as soon as he clocked out that a 180 flip.
Xander frowned, "its dangerous running around alone at night in Destiny City. If you like I can give you a ride or walk with you. I can let your mother know, as well if you like. I've seen to many kids come through here with the oddest injuries, so I'd feel better if you weren't alone."
Not to mention if something did go wrong he could always power up and protect the boy.
