Darren had booked it - basically just throwing all his stuff in his bag in a haphazard pile before closing it up and dashing out the door, hoping to get somewhere where he could watch the door for Hafwen... Well "Yvette," whatever her name happened to be. Frowning tapped his foot. Wondering idly if his phone was exploding with requests for a date still. He hadn't been able to answer it all weekend, he was sure it had like over a hundred messages on it now. It was getting ridiculous. He had a sinking feeling though - it had everything to do with that blue haired girl. It wasn't coincidence that they'd met again, at least not in his mind. Maybe it was crazy but he felt like fate was making her show up in the most unexpected places. Now all he could do was wait, and see if he had beaten her out of the mansion.

Hafwen should have seen this coming and have her bag all packed and ready for her getaway. Only that it wasn't at all possible as fate would have her notice Darren's presence at the murder mystery event only on the last day itself when all of them went after the murderer who turned out to be none other than Alice herself. Cursing beneath her breath the entire time, she had tossed everything into her bag without pausing to bid a formal farewell to her roommate for the weekend, not at all caring as to what someone else might think of her for that kind of behaviour for once as she pursued her intent to leave the mansion with as much eagerness as if she had a pack of hell hounds hot on her trail.
Surely the drummer back at the pizza joint must have recognized her in spite of the period attire that they were supposed to don in accordance with the rules of the event set out by the host himself. Even if he hadn't noticed her presence during the various meal sessions that all of the house guests were supposed to partake in together, he was bound to realize that she was there during that last confrontation with Alice and Minerva.
As the blue-haired teen neared the door and observed that the coast was clear, she finally allowed herself a small sigh of relief that he wasn't anywhere in sight, hugging her duffel bag close to her before stepping through it and out of the mansion proper.

Darren let her get a short distance down the sidewalk before moving to catch up with her. Once he got within arms length of her he reached out and tapped her lightly on the shoulder in mid-stride. "Yvette..." He cleared his throat. "So, for my first 'fan' you have seemed awfully apt to avoid my calls. Or messages for that matter. But your friends have had not qualms in texting me non-stop for dates... Which I have been turning down left and right." Darren smile softly to her to avoid flaring any potential issues. "So... what's up?"

Just as Hafwen was about to allow herself to relax and think that she had managed to successfully avert what was predictably going to be a social disaster in itself, she jumped at the tap on her shoulder, skipping a step forward before turning to see who it was. "Darren. Fancy seeing you here..." Her heart sank almost immediately the moment she saw that it was him, the very person she was trying so hard to avoid all this while for the exact same reason why she had been keeping her phone at bay as if she would contract the plague from it or something.
It was as clear as a cloudless day that the boy had fallen for her. Hard. And it would seem that he was one of those rare persistent ones since most guys would have gotten the hint that she wasn't interested in furthering the relationship with her avoidance behaviour. Then again, she had to admit that this was unknown territory to her since she had never had a guy fall this hard for her before as a result of a stupid dare.
"I um... Look, I'm really sorry to be telling you this but what I did that day was for a dare in order to get your number." There was no sugar coating of the facts as Hafwen presented them as they were to Darren, the grip that she had on her bag tightening at the same time. Yes, she was an a** hat but if it would set the poor boy on the right path and clear this up once and for all, at least it would be over and she would be able to sleep easy from tonight on. "I'm really really sorry. I didn't mean to play with your feelings like this..."

Darren was about to comment on how he'd actually seen her since the start of the weekend and just hadn't had a chance to let her know he was there when she flat out dropped him on his a** with her statement. Her entire approaching him to get his number had been a dare? In essence a joke at his expense. At least she seemed apologetic - thing was - Darren wasn't overly hurt. Smirking a tad, he shook his head slowly and let out a long sigh. "So is Yvette your real name or were you playing me there too?" He asked her gently, wanting to know the truth. "Because it's gonna be weird if I start calling you by a name that isn't yours. You may of approached me on a dare, but you're cute - and I like you."He looks up at her and runs a hand through his hair. "My initial offer still stands. I'd love to take you out some time, dare or no dare."Sorry Hafwen - he wasn't about to give up just yet.

"It's not." Hafwen watched Darren closely all the while, trying to gauge how he was taking the horrible truth she had decided to drop without mercy onto him. It had to be done. She told herself over and over again in her mind. Get it over and done with so that the both of them could put this issue behind them and move on with their respective lives. She did not see a need for her to supply him with her actual name hence her decision to leave her response as that though she was already starting to get a bad feeling that things weren't going to go the way she had intended as evident by his asking her out on a date as though this was just a random encounter on the street with a cute girl whom he fancied.
No no no no no. This was going all wrong. She gave Darren a frown, her head shaking quickly at the same time in apparent disapproval. "No. You don't understand what I'm trying to get at, do you? I'm not interested." Not good. Apparently she had sat on this too long for the poor boy to become this smitten with her. Well, let's see how he took to what she said next. That should get the message right across to him. "I'm very sorry but you're not my type Darren." Better to get everything off her chest, no barriers barred lest this evolved into something she wasn't prepared to handle entirely.

"You haven't even taken the chance to get to know me, so how do you know I'm not your type," Darren countered as soon as she pulled that card out of her deck. "You can tell me you're not interested all you want, but I don't buy it. Sure you may have been flirting with me on a dare, but I think we have some actual chemistry going on." He motioned between the two of them. "I mean, at least give me the chance of a first date. Get to know me before you write me off as some stereotypical jerk musician." Darren HATED being placed under that label. He wasn't the love-em-and-leave-em type. He'd never really kissed a girl that wasn't practically related to him and he was still a virgin - the only member of the band that was and he got all sorts of hell for it to. But he did have one thing, and that was class and decorum. He wanted to find the right girl to share that moment with - and his heart told him he wanted it to be Yv... No, that wasn't her name now was it. "What is your real name anyway - it's kinda awkward that you know mine but I don't know yours."

"One thing. A female's sixth sense." Darren Waughner was proving to be one tough and persistent nut to crack if she had to resort to something as silly as a woman's intuition to reason with him why she wasn't going to even bother giving him the privilege of a first date. Hafwen observed, holding up her index finger as she gazed into his eyes to challenge his next claim. "Oh? Tell me more about this chemistry that you've picked up on then."
She could of course turn around and call him a stereotypical jerk musician to see if that would work, put to use whatever information she managed to glean from their conversation so as to get him off her back. But that would be too obvious. Besides, she wasn't really that desperate. Yet. This guy wasn't going to call it quits that easily. The determination reflected in his eyes essentially said it all. She would probably require something more concrete to get him to give up. Something that seemed fair and square, but the odds were stacked such that it was impossible for him to accomplish it successfully.
"Hafwen. Hafwen Goodall." There wasn't any point in withholding her name from him any longer so she relented, trying to buy herself some time as she tried to come up with something on the fly that would leave him no choice but to give up eventually.

"I think your women's intuition needs some recalibrating," Darren chuckled, watching her for a moment before letting out a low sigh. "As far as the chemistry, I'm going to have to cite your really good acting at my show when you wanted my number. You could have fooled me... Oh, wait."His tone was far from bitter - if anything it sounded like he was making light of the fact he hadn't/couldn't see through her ruse. Cracking a smile, he shook his head and rubbed the bridge of his nose for a moment. "Hafwen, eh? That's a very pretty name." He chuckles softly. "Look, I'll be honest with you. I would really like to at least get a first date. So what do I have to do to earn such a privilege."

Hafwen frowned, not at all sure if Darren was trying to be funny at her expense with the remark he had just made. Recalibrate? Her? Was he trying to imply that she was less of a woman than the average female that one could find on the street? She gave an unimpressed snort, even more determined now to deny him what he wanted if that slip up on his part was telling as to what he thought of her.
"As far as I remember, chemistry is supposed to involve at least two reagents before any reaction can happen. That was purely one-sided unfortunately." She told him point blank, still relentless in her efforts to dissuade him from pursuing what she still saw as a potential time waster for the both of them. And it was at that exact moment when the idea came to her. A game of soccer with him trying to prevent her from scoring a goal. He didn't seem like the athletic type no matter how she saw it so yes, that would do perfectly in getting him off her back once and for all.
"Alright. Meet me at the park entrance in your gym attire tomorrow evening. I'll explain the rest when we're there."

"Deal," Darren said - not caring what the potential set up was. If there was a chance for him to get a date with Hafwen he'd take it. "I'll see you there then," He smiled and moved out of her way so she could resume her travels down the street. He would be there.

Hafwen did not even bother with pleasantries or even the basic farewell as she took her leave in silence after sparing a nod to acknowledge Darren's consent to her terms. She was way beyond caring at this point if it made her seem like a b***h to the dark-haired youth, figuring that it might work subtly in her favour for all she knew if it made him develop second thoughts about dating her. Even better if he decided to text her later in the day to cancel their meeting at the park tomorrow evening for she wasn't looking forward to the outcome if he, by some strange twist of fate, managed to overcome all the odds stacked against him and secure that first date he had been hankering for with her.
That text never came of course.
