And what I want to know is, what is the purpose of this guild, really? Is it to have debates over issues that are not founded in scripture, but rather on the basis of our whimsical opinions, just as nonbelievers do? Or is it to sharpen each other, like scripture says: "as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." Far be it from me to discourage honest discussion - I love teaching and learning, and in fact one day wish to be a teacher, a college professor if they'll have me - but, it strikes me as odd that we have a Christian guild, one that proudly touts the name of Christ (as we should), and yet in the first forum I go into, I see an extraordinary lack of understanding of the Word of the God we serve and love. It is our duty as stewards of the Word to teach the younger believers how to live according to Christ (although, I'm only 20, and shouldn't be teaching anyone how to live), but we can't do that if we don't know Christ in the first place!

I'm only a member (and a casual one at that). There are a lot of debates in the forums, but I find them edifying. Don't think your age prevents you from teaching others, that's the meaning of the (Tim.) 4:12 in our title!
Biblical scripture is often quoted when explaining one's understanding. It's also encouraged so we can better know for ourselves if it's merely diversity in opinion or misunderstanding of truth...
In the end the guild is what you make it although it is intended as a safe place for "Jesus freaks" to learn, grow, and just talk about life in light of their faith.

Oh hi Nathan.
Not exactly sure about the guild myself, we have debates and stuff just because debating/discussion is fun.
We also have threads in here for teaching and stuff.
Basically a big mix of stuff.

We have a pretty wide range of beliefs represented here. You sort of run out of things to talk about when everyone is in perfect agreement, no? We're a pretty welcoming guild. If you're looking for a guild filled primarily with sola scriptura Christians, you may want to look elsewhere, but if you're looking to have discussions with people with varying ideologies from different walks of life, we've got you pretty well-covered, I think. wink
By all means, feel free to dive into whatever discussions appeal to you, and feel free to start your own threads.
What subject would you like to teach?
