Rider
Name: M'chi (Formerly Machi)
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Rank: Wingrider
History:
-Born to an apothecary
-Mom was certifiable, no joke, no snide remark, she really was. Married for looks/status/money
-She also thinks her son is some sort of monster and thus tries to smother him in a pillow when he's 2
-Natasa stops it, flips out. Mom is found dead two days later in the bath (Dad did it, they suspects, neither is going to be upset about it)
-Creepy quiet kid turns super creepy, latches on to sister in an unhealthy way
-Natasa goes to Healer Hall at 11, changes her name to Jessan as a lark
-Machi is DISTRAUGHT over her leaving.
-He does stupid things in an effort to find someone else to hold on to, meets a boy when he's fourteen that needs a hug.
-Machi hugs him
-Boy dies.
-Machi realizes Dad is doing Questionable Things. He runs off to Benden Weyr to be with Natasa - now Jessan - and then all but immediately impresses Rhinth at fifteen.
-Jessan is super pissed off at him Impressing a dragon that hates her. Machi is torn because dragon > sister but sister = super unhealthy obsession they both acknowledge and ignore since it's mutually beneficial, 100% platonic, and involves little to no contact now.
-M'chi, the wingrider!
-He's 16 when dad is arrested for murder, tried, convicted and branded as a murderer before being sent out as a Holdless. Jessan goes back to the Hold and takes over the apothecary. MORE DISTAUGHT M'CHI. Rhinth helps
-M'chi does some bad s**t. It involves fighting and being a grumpy b***h. Jessan returns when he's about 21.
-Yeah, that's when she starts using her powers as an apothecary for evil. :c
-Keller starts blathering his stuff. jessan convinces M'chi to join up with her despite Rhinth's quiet raging protests.
-They take part in the revolution. Machi is attacked by a half grown wher on a rampage. He manages to give it a concussion. In return, it all but rips off half of his face and scars his body before Rhinth kills it. She carries M'chi somewhere far from the fighting and spends the night coiled around him.
-Benden wins. M'chi is taken care of - he suspects Jessan pulled some strings to get a mostly dead greenrider healed up in Benden.
-M'chi does not like Lex. He's also very convinced that Bendens poor lost goldrider simply lost her way - Kindra must have been lied to. They stole her like they wanted to steal the only daughter of her noble Benden gold. If he had the chance to whisk her away to Benden and keep her as a pampered figurehead, a gold willing to defect for the betterment of the people, he would.
-M'chi is old-school colorbound. He is the lowest on the rung, detests atypicals, and isn't really pro-equality. He wants Kindra back. He wants a proper Weyrwoman.
-He may or may not in fact be trying to figure out how to get the strong willed goldrider her throne back.
-That is where we are now.
Description: You know how they say 'don't judge a book by it's cover' or 'serial killers look like normal people'? They are liars, all of them. If a person were to look at Machi and not be at least a little on edge, they are unhinged. It has nothing to do with the abnormally white hair or the pale, ghostly skin. Most of the time, it's the deadened gaze of the soulless, narrowed dark eyes usually slitted with dangerous intents. Some of his victims died terrified of the spindly, delicate fingers wrapped around their slim necks or the overly thin frame of hidden muscle that managed to pin them to the ground with a dagger in hand and their intestines over the ground.
He has a pretty face, though a bit long to be called such. His cheekbones are sharp and high, lips full and eyebrows forever thin and arched. There are scars littering his arms and shoulders from life before the prison. Now that he's been at the prison for a good long while and unable to work out extensively without drawing the attention of Warden V'tyai, he has become thinner and weaker, bags appearing under his eyes. V'tyai demands at least one hair cut a year from him so currently Machi's hair is just below his chin and he is fully capable of staring at someone from under it to look like someone out of a slasher movie.
Personality: According to his mother, Machi was born defective. She was the only person to think so but given the fact she was also the one who tried to drown him when he was three, no one gave her opinion much weight.
As an adult, he rarely laughed and a genuine smile was rewarded only to the most beloved of his pets. When it comes to sense of humor, Machi is a bit lacking. He understands the concept jokes and teasing, he just finds nothing truly funny about them. When it comes to dry, sardonic snark, he's spot on there and has no lack o sniping words or rather cruel observations. More often then not he chooses to keep it to himself (being in a straitjacket will do that to a guy) but when asked, he will vocalize. Just expect dryness to rival a desert.
He has a mean streak a mile wide and an innate ability to cause pain in both the emotional and physical sense to those around him. Machi manages to hide this as well as a man in the Unstable block can, often acting the part of the quiet and withdrawn rather than a mad dog on a long, weak leash. He keeps his eyes diverted unless trying to intimidate a person and does his very best to walk with stooped shoulders or shuffling feet; best to not be too obvious when it comes to things like that. He knows it does nothing to keep those in charge from being suspicious
His soft spots are few but one in particular are his 'pets'. He took the emotionally fragile young men pff the streets and kept them hidden away from the outside world. He cared for them, fed them, gave them Dust, safe from the horrors around, until they died or tried to run away and then died. Machi called them his pets, his dolls, and in his defense, he never means to kill them. It just happened. They ran, he pursued. Another big crack in his armor is his sister, Natasa. He is horribly devoted to her even now, turns after being sentenced and being shipped to Wardens. A slight against her is the best way to get on his badside.
TL;DR He's a crazy SOB that needs to be kept away from the fragile.
(Note to self: make more sane)
Other: I swear he's not a serial killer in this one.
Dragon
Name: Rhinth
Age: 15
Colour: Green
Description: Rhinth is on the tiny side. That is, she's tiny at hatching, as much as any atypical, but she'll never grow as large as some of her sisters, being on the small size all her life. She's a scrawny thing, extremely sickly at hatching and desperately needing care. As she ages, she'll grow mostly in length and not in bulk, she'll always be whipcord thin. She's also fast as hell, especially for her size, with a long, snakelike neck which allows her to whip around and attack without warning.
Her base color is that of a dark spring green. Once to her shoulders, Rhinth goes from that deep green to starbursts of shamrock and paris green from shoulders near to the lower part of her legs and tail wher it freckles into lime green. The same lime green is smattered across her face akin to actual freckles, her wings speckled with all the colors of her hide.
Size: Average
Build: Supermodel
Personality: Rhinth is sweet as f'ing pie. Motherly and helpful, she has a knack for getting involved in everything. Wherever someone looks, there's Rhinth. She's volunteering to carry, dig, haul. If it's necessary or will simply get her noticed as 'doing good' she'll be there, doing it. Doing it and commenting that no, she doesn't mind doing it alone. She's sure that her siblings need the extra rest. After all, some dragons just don't have the stamina she does! See, with all that helpfulness, that willingness to lend a hand, one can almost miss the truth. Specifically, that Rhinth hates everyone. Beneath the very thin veneer of seeming niceness is pure venom.
She is the epitome of killing with kindness, barbed statements painted over with a light coat of seeming thoughtfulness. But, the insult's always there beneath the surface and usually one doesn't even need to dig to find it. 'Sibling, your hide's so shiny today! It really helps distract from the dullness of your color.' Or, 'Sibling, you have such a handsome rider. I think good looks are so much more important than intellect, don't you?' If accused, she's all innocence. She was trying to be nice! Her accusers are just being oversensitive. But she's sorry if they took what she said out of context.
When she talks to her rider, Rhinth hides nothing. It's just one constant stream of utter venomous disgust for everyone. But oh, how she adores her rider. When directing her acid his way, each comment is turned to his advantage. 'That man is so dull. Not like you, mine.' or 'That woman disgusts me. So weak. All humans are weak but you, mine.' So devoted she is to her rider, so hateful of everyone else, that even with her apparent 'helpful' nature she had a difficult time making connections that pass beyond the superficial. She does have a certain liking for Algonquith, however, the opal's quips amuse her to no end. Of course, she still thinks she's the more clever.
One place where Rhinth differs from most the outlaws and some of her clutchmates is on the subject of violence. It's not that she wouldn't like to see hateful Warden's burned to the ground, but she really is a bit of a coward, for herself and for all those who are lucky enough to have her 'looking after them'. She hates pain, finds blood distasteful, and is terrified by the idea of hers getting hurt. She may have no moral qualms about violence, but she's the one who'll be thinking about the dangers involved in any attack. Unfortunately for everyone, this means she's a big supporter of preying on the weak. After all, they can't fight back!
Other/Why Me?: Machi is at his best when a strong woman stands behind him. Oh sure, he's got Jessan, but if you ask Rhinth, that woman doesn't do nearly a good enough job looking after him. If she did, he'd not have lost an eye. Rhinth, meanwhile, needs someone who knows how to respect a woman's authority, someone who could handle a little doting. And while Rhinth won't mind Machi's violent side, she will keep an eye on him and try to encourage him to pick only those fights he's sure to win.
