Introduction

I. Students will introduce themselves to the professor by stating their name and house.

Homework: Read Chapters One and Two in The Standard Book of Spells, Grade One.

Lesson One: Wingardium Leviosa
Time: Two Weeks, Six Remaining


I. Students will review the four essentials of spell casting (concentration, wand movements, pronunciation, and visualization) in regards to the Levitation Charm.
Pronunciation: win-GAR-dee-um lev-ee-OH-sa
Wand Movement: Swish and Flick!
II. Students will practice casting the charm on feathers.

Homework: Read Chapters Three and Four in The Standard Book of Spells, Grade One

Lesson Two: Lumos
Time: Two Weeks, Four Remaining


I. Students will review the four essentials of spell casting (concentration, wand movements, pronunciation, and visualization) in regards to Lumos.
Pronunciation: LOO-mos
Wand Movement: Loop
II. Students will practice casting the charm in the darkened classroom.

Homework: Students will read Chapter Five in The Standard Book of Spells, Grade One

Lesson Three: Incendio
Time: Two Weeks, Two Remaining


I. Students will review the four essentials of spell casting (concentration, wand movements, pronunciation, and visualization) in regards to Incendio.
Pronunciation: in-SEN-dee-oh
Wand Movement: Trace the outline of a flame
II. Students will practice casting the charm to light a candle.

Homework: Read Chapter Eight in The Standard Book of Spells, Grade One

Lesson Four: Spongify
Time: Two Weeks, None Remaining


I. Students will review the four essentials of spell casting (concentration, wand movements, pronunciation, and visualization) in regards to Spongify.
Pronunciation: SPUN-jih-fie
Wand Movement: Backwards "S"
II. Students will practice casting the charm on hard stools.

I. Students will demonstrate one charm they learned from the previous year.

Homework: Read Chapters One and Eight in The Standard Book of Spells, Grade Two.

Lesson One: Skurge
Time: Two Weeks, Six Remaining


I. Students will review the four essentials of spell casting (concentration, wand movements, pronunciation, and visualization) in regards to Skurge.
Pronunciation: SKUR-je
Wand Movement: Point at the target
II. Students will practice casting the charm by cleaning up the goo covering the classroom.

Homework: Read Chapters Four in The Standard Book of Spells, Grade Two

Lesson Two: Aresto Momentum
Time: Two Weeks, Four Remaining


I. Students will review the four essentials of spell casting (concentration, wand movements, pronunciation, and visualization) in regards to Aresto Momentum.
Pronunciation: ah-REST-oh mo-MEN-tum
Wand Movement: Simply point at the target and then a sudden, swift motion in the direction opposite of where the object is heading towards.
II. Students will practice casting the charm on falling marbles.

Lesson Three: Flame-Freezing Charm
Time: One Week, Three Remaining


I. Students will practice casting the charm on a piece of parchment and pass it through a flame.

Homework: Read Chapter Three in The Standard Book of Spells Grade Two

Lesson Four: Locomotor
Time: Two Weeks, One Remaining


I. Students will review the four essentials of spell casting (concentration, wand movements, pronunciation, and visualization) in regards to Locomotor.
Pronunciation: LOH-koh-moh-tor
Point the wand at the object, then flick the wand in a wave-like pattern.
II. Students will practice casting the charm on chess pieces.
III. Students will vote for which charm they want to learn next class.
