Uncle Kenny Yes, we do have an update planned for Guilds that we want to work on this year. We haven't started development yet but it's still on the to-do list when we can. During the AtA session on July 29. So exciting!

lady-drogo I just wish that they would edit these guilds... Will the guilds made be moved to guilds 2??Since development hasn't actually begun yet (they are trying to complete the new Inventory first), I'm not sure even they know themselves what form Guilds 2 will take. But I take heart that my house was able to be moved from Towns to Towns 2 so hopefully most of our guilds will be transferable, too.

I hope we actually get something workable... I'm hopeful but a little worried at the same time, because it seems every month we're told something different about Guild upgrades... Yes, no, you'll keep all your stuff, it'll be completely changed, what are you talking about, we don't have the staff, yes we'll change it, ect...

This is such exciting news! We're being heard! Our efforts haven't been in vain. We went about this the right way -- with advocacy, patience, and hard work -- and we just may get a new Guilds system and, God willing, may be able to transfer existing guilds over to it. If Gaia wanted to be even cooler and implement a much-needed gold-sink, they could charge a fee (100,000g or so?) to make the transition.
Congratulations, everyone! I meant it when I say that we are making Gaian history.

I would actually love to see it as a gold sink, 100,000 to transfer a guild and all new guilds after that would be 200,000 (or whatever devs decide would be a fair price). Considering that 20k isn't a lot at all it's no surprise that there are excessive amounts empty guilds floating around.
@thread: Would anyone want to help me make a master list/outline of ideas we might want for Guilds 2.0?

For sure. 20,000g is nothing nowadays.
If we were to compile such a list, we could start with some that are outlined in this thread and work our way out from there. Some things are missing; for example, I would love the ability to report a Terms of Service violation in a post/thread directly rather than have to contact an online Moderator via PM myself. It's time-consuming and often ineffective (I've seen some TOS violations sit untouched in guilds for years), and new members might not know what to do, unless there is an active and vigilant guild crew at hand.Captain Silas Manner I would actually love to see it as a gold sink, 100,000 to transfer a guild and all new guilds after that would be 200,000 (or whatever devs decide would be a fair price). Absolutely! Since I actively participate in the Site Feedback forum I could post a copy there once this list gets built enough. There are a couple ideas I have that I haven't seen anyone else mention, too, although they're not really vital or necessary like having a report button in guilds eek

No no no no no gonk it takes me months to earn 100k. I own 3 guilds and co own like 5... I would never be able to get anything on my dream avi... just NO! I could see 20,000 to transfer and 100,000 to open a new guild in guilds 2.

I could see 20,000 to transfer and 100,000 to open a new guild in guilds 2. I wouldn't really know this because I wasn't a member of Gaia back in '04, but I'm sure when guilds first came out, it would have taken a very long time to earn 20k for a guild, especially since there weren't games like zOMG and Booty Grab to help. Now that we have those things, the time to earn money for a guild should be equal to what it was then, although everyone earns gold differently. My position still stands on the price for a new guild in Guilds 2, although maybe there shouldn't be a transfer fee, considering there would be complications with people getting their guilds transferred, so some people would be stuck with guilds in Guilds 1.0 while others would already be in 2.0. That would be weird.

what about those of us who don't have the Internet for those money-gaining games? Or have an Apple product, and so can't play them cuz Apple doesn't support Flash? 100k is a lifetime away, even with donations Heck, 20k is a pain to get

There are a lot of things people that can't have if they can't play those games, or make gold efficiently in any shape or form. They can't buy the latest items and have to save up for them for long periods of time, they can't enter their avatar in the Avatar Arena because 10k is too much to save up for just to be in the contest that week, and new gold shop items will seem expensive too, even though they're commons. They can't buy nice quality art if they're not willing to shell out for a particular artist's prices. Prices on most things reflect the fact that gold is easy to get, and my point is that the prices of guilds in the supposed new system should reflect that as well. Guilds are supposed to be an investment of someone's dedication and hard work. Good guilds are made by people that put the effort into them. The prices on guilds don't seemed to have changed as the entry fee and prizes in the Avatar Arena did. I'm hoping with the update to guilds, the price for a new guild will as well. Even if it's only 100k, that would make it enough of a gold-earning effort to only be available to those willing to seriously own and run a guild.
Considering that 100k won't buy a current month's Monthly Collectible, it only seems fair. I'm not sure if Monthly Collectibles were around 20k back when guilds came out.
