Sic Semper Tyrannis thus always to tyrants So it's become clear that to many Wherholders, Keller's rule is no more satisfying than the metallic-clad ways of the old Weyrs. It's a step in the right direction, but not necessarily the step that everyone wanted to take - and not necessarily the step that they were promised. Consider this an interest thread for players with Wherholder characters interested in taking part in a hostile overthrow!

The Grievances If your character has IC reasons for wanting to participate other than these, please feel free to post! This is just a general gathering of some of the reasons I saw listed in thread during the initial discussion: Hypocrisy - despite his claims, Keller still places a disproportionate focus on metallic riders, as evidenced by his repeated attempts to take Iachixth by force, as well as his own gold wher. Disproportionate focus on violence - there are plenty of Wherholders who think the war ought to be over by now and they should stop trying to provoke Trine, especially after the damage wrought by the most recent round of espionage between Resistance and Revolution. Disgruntled riders - no matter what is said about equality and earning your place, there's going to be some dragonriders who think that going from wherhandlers being second-class citizens to riders being second-class citizens isn't exactly fair. Ambition - or maybe you don't care about The Cause, you just want to move up in the world? Keller being taken out leaves a big ol' void in the power structure just waiting to be filled...

The Plan Keller's got a nasty gold wher protecting him. The strike team, whoever it turns out to be, is going to have to move fast and accept the very real possibility of danger. However, there are ways to tip the scales in favor of the assassins, ironically as demonstrated by Trine during the poison event. He's not immortal, he's just going to be very tough to get to and take down. Thoughts?

The Loyalists Obviously any overthrow plot wouldn't be fun if there wasn't opposition. Loyal Wherholders are welcome to defend Keller, or even try to expose the underground movement!

Characters Involved I'm going to separate them more-or-less into three groups: characters willing to do some actual fighting, characters who support the overthrow but will be lending non-violent assistance, and characters opposing the overthrow. If you feel like your character falls into a different group than these three, just let me know and I'll add a new category! This isn't set in stone, just a way for me to organize who's who and on which sides. Willing to Fight:Supports Nonviolently:Neutral:Opposes:

D'ei will actively fight and break faces with V'ell. Her reasons are 95% about what happened the last time she said 'lol no' an 5% because she likes breaking some faces when angry. Oh, also, she's angry. Really, really angry. Things were supposed to be better, Keller you jerkface.
On the other hand, Kr'stof will get violent and fight for Keller. He didn't go around murdering and spying and lying to his fans, friends, and family just to give up and turn tail now. Yeah, he gets it, equality, war should be over, blah blah, but he joined Keller's ranks in the first place because he was tired of how things were. (And let's admit it - as a Bolt, he gets some pretty decent treatment compared to some others.)

Teshy would probably be interested in this. Not necessarily because she has anything against Keller and the violent overthrow, but because she thinks Keller still has too much privilege and someone with less should be in charge.
Toska will be a neutral party.
OTHER WHERHOLDERS TO COME.

Rilli is highly offended but not surprised that the dragonriders are the ones trying to overthrow Keller. -_- She and Risk will defend him with their lives.
Ja'kki is now torn. She'll fight for Keller for now... but only because she can't bear to lose anymore Bolts. Just keep in mind, Ja'kki does NOT like Keller, she does like fighting, and if something slips in a dark corridor... oopsie daisy.
Sasar supports Keller for the time being. The Whers-on-top combined with the importance still being placed on metallics works just fine for him and Sasask. If it looks like they're going to loose... well he doesn't plan on being captured again. Sasar looks out for himself most of all.

Dinah, Celandine, Fi'o, and Ralla would oppose.
Kesin is neutral (or, more accurately, too self-interested to stick her neck out for anyone). Lilah would also be functionally neutral - she doesn't like what's happened, but she won't do anything about it. Cataran is also neutral.
Anali could initially be converted to the movement, but would probably betray them to improve her own standing.

Dizzy - we were supposed to do a RP with our Bolts, right? I think I may have forgotten... memory is akin to a gnat. We can make it something about this. Aroundish this.
... Meep, Anali is my favorite.

J'ri would support nonviolently, as long as the aim is to put someone less violent in charge. She wants a place where she feels she and her boys are safe again, where she doesn't feel she'll be attacked if she tries to leave, where riders aren't driven to fight riders, where fighting isn't the first answer to everything. She's a pacifist and won't do any fighting herself and is rather wary of taking risks that might endanger her or her sons, but she'll do what she can.

S'aak will passively (and silently) support this movement. The Wherholds have gone too far away from their ideals, and someone attempting to bring them back to the equality they were supposed to represent would be pretty welcome for him.
Serdek would break some heads, but she doesn't work with dragonriders and won't stand for a Weyr where they have power again. Period.

Canoake and Tatath are out for themselves. So unless this is a guaranteed success, they may do small things to help the movement, neither will actively support it outright until perhaps the very end. They are enjoying basking in being known as vicious fighters (and victors). Both rider and dragon will prefer to keep their hands clean looking until the very end.
