The days of Autumn as of late have been warmer than usual, the light chill that ruffled the hellhounds fur gave way to the shine of the pumpkin sun that was beating down. The last time that he had the chance to take out his surfboard, it was for the beach party and the little Jacuzzi that everyone was enjoying. But it wasn't for him, there was no waves, no space and frankly, not enough space to fall. Not to mention the water was far too warm for the activity. He had dreams of clear blue water, far as the eye can see. Sparkling waves that broke on the shore on a sandy beach, the foam of white that ran up the surface with the ebb and flow of the tide. The sensation of the semi cool liquid brushing up against his ankles and dipping his fingers into the matter it was a fantasy. Today was a day made for the water, and by Jack he was going to find it. With surfboard in hand, a towel, umbrella and spare clothes in his backpack, Damien was out the door. Damien was heading for the beach.

Jove was oblivious to the nice weather. Sure he would enjoy a long, hot bath every now and again, or appreciate an icy drink just for the unusual novelty of it, but when it came to the outdoors, his idea of a good day out had nothing to do with temperature. The sights and sounds and smells, those were the things that brought him out when the weather was nice. A light breeze to carry scents to his nose, without being strong enough to render his hair completely unruly, the bright sun's rays trickling through the leaves in the forest to fall on shifting foliage and skittering creatures... That's all Jove could have asked for.
However, he didn't expect a companion to enjoy it with. Not until he stepped outside the ghost dorms, only to see a familiar figure with... that long flat buoyant thing, and some other gear, likewise leaving his own dorm. Jove's tail wagged, and like a carefree pup he abandoned all thoughts of the forest in favour of saying hello to the hellhound.
Jove trotted over, and began to walk silently by Demi's side, ears perked, tail wagging, and eyes scanning every single item his friend was carrying. And that was as good as a greeting. Though silent, his mannerisms were clearly asking what was going on.

Damien was no stranger to company, he practically came installed with a few. The welcome brush up of a familiar pup had Damien beaming. "Sup Jove." he greeted his silent partner, using the only free hand to ruffle the boil's hair. It was like Jove knew he was planning for an adventure, that he should be out and about and find him. "I take it you are wondering what i'm up to." He answered the pup's silent question. Reading the foxfire just kept getting easier day by day, it was a minor victory each time." I had the urge to go to the water and surf, so im off to the beach, you wanna come with?" the hellhound had to ask "I hope you will be better around water, sick face." there was still the matter of teasing about one ghost and the cold he had received.

Jove batted away Demi's hand, around the older, taller boils it was becoming a bit of a habit. Sometimes he wondered if he shouldn't just let them pet him in his natural form, to get all the urges out if they wanted to touch his fluffy hair that badly. They just had to ask. No need to ruffle his fluff in public! At least he didn't mind the gesture as much as he once had, and it didn't stop him from nodding at the invitation. Ren never took him to the beach, the gryphon was a real scaredy cat around large bodies of water. Or smaller ones. Or... anything larger than a bath tub, Jove supposed. He wasn't sure why, the water was lots of fun. The pup snorted as he eyed the floaty board. Of course he wasn't going to get sick again! He never got sick. That one time... that was just a fluke, not real sickness! And it wouldn't stop him from playing at the beach!

The moment of defiance was the cutest thing in the hellhounds eyes. It reminded him so much of himself at a younger age, so much that it was nostalgic sense of warmth in his chest that had the hound chuckling and putting him in a headlock, all for the sake of doing more headpats.
The little snort of of unamusement spoke volumes of the canine students intentions. "Yeah yeah little pupbro, the board shall save you from the water illness, until you flop over in the water and i laugh at you treading water." he was never going to forget jove, never forget.

Jove's protests escalated into little wordless grumpy murmurs as he struggled to get free. Petting was one thing, this was entirely another! With a muted squeak the little pup managed to pop himself out of the headlock, staggering backwards and nearly falling onto his fluffy backside from the effort it took. He gave Demi a little glare and ran off, back towards the ghost dorm.
For a minute it seemed like he might have changed his mind, but then the little pup dashed back out. Except he wasn't such a little pup anymore. Sporting a somewhat taller, mid-teen-ish form and carrying a fluffy mushroom-patterned beach towel, Jove once again seemed eager to go to the beach.
It only seemed fair, if Demi was going to pull him around he had to try to level the playing field! As best he could.

At first glance Damien could have sworn that Jove was mad at him, even more so when he trotted away, causing him to frown at the sight. "Maybe i shouldn't have played so rough with him?" the hellhound asked himself and his other personalities, a rally of murmurs from within tat seemed just as puzzled as the next over the predicament.
It wasn't fun if Jove was mad at him.
However it didn't seem to be the case, much to his relief when the foxfire returned with supplies. That was much, much better, at least he was better dressed for the occasion. "did you bring an extra change of clothes in case you need it?" he took the time to remind him again, ready to point Jove back to the dorms in case he did not.
No chances this time Boil.

Jove shook his head, and somehow his older face maintained it's curious innocence, ears perking as if to ask why he would need a change of clothes. He had a towel this time, and it wasn't like he was going to run around wet in a locker room! The beach was something entirely different.
The little ghost wagged his tail and darted forward a few steps, silently telling Demi he was ready to go, and that meant walking faster. With his longer stride he didn't have to work so hard to put distance between them, and wisps were practically made for running. It was both frustrating and satisfying trying to lure the hellhound into following at a quicker pace.
Come ooonn, the beach was waiting!

Grey Dragon ohlook at me taggin thing finally OTL Damien was just going to have to accept that Jove was never going to learn his lesson, with a heavy sigh the hound drops his shoulders as well as his dispute. "Nevermind then Jove, off we go." Emerald eyes was already taking the foxfire boil that was getting impatient and running ahead, which left him puzzled cuz it was his own idea in the first place, but it was Jove that wanted to get there in a hurry. It was a hound leading the other hound along for a walk. The mere concept gave the taller hound a light chuckle as he tailed behind. "I know you like water now but sheesh, the beach is going to be there pup." he stated with a light bark, teasing and friendly.

Jove's tail wagged, and eventually he got tired of looking over his shoulder. So he slowed down just enough to let the other canine catch up, and walked side by side. It had nothing to do with the pup's inability to find the beach on his own. Glancing over at Demi was just easier this way. Even in his older form there was a childlike excitement bubbling to the surface. He wanted to sit on that floaty board again, and get wet, and maybe sink all the way to the bottom of the water and try and find some fish...

The trip itself was made much shorter with company involved, Damien was glad to have someone along that he could pester and joke and on occasion, pick up and run around with. The paved road turned from stone to dirt and from dirt to warm sand as he saw the shore and the brilliant blue open water. "Yes, much better than that tiny pool we used last time, right?" the hound stated, filling his lungs with the salty briny air that wafted from the beyond. It was a mixture of sensations that lifted his spirits, made him happy right down to his very core. And proceeded to leave behind the foxfire in his wake, running down to the beach and looking for a spot for them to call their own by the water's edge. "HURRY UP SLOWPOOF!"

Once they arrived, Jove stared with even bigger eyes. He hadn't seen this much water since... Since... Well, since that huge boat trip, and that felt like so long ago. Ages even. Nevermind the fact the pup was all of four years old. For a moment it gave him such a feeling of trepidation that he stayed frozen in one place, unmoving and not even nodding in response to Damien's question. But then suddenly the hound was off and running, and that was enough to startle Jove out of his nervous reverie. He ran after the other boil and felt all the anxiety rush from his mind. They weren't going sailing, they were just going to swim! In all that water, imagine the fish he would find! The foxfire was fast, that much was true, but it wasn't always a good thing. This time he barrelled right past Demi, and straight into the water. Clothes and towel and all.

Damien came to a stop at a spot he felt was suitable, here the sand was in a nice smooth pile, or at least after he sweeped his leg over it a few times, there was a withered tree to provide some shade and the water was not far. "Yes, a perfect place to throw down a picnic tablecloth and a ewf towels." he said in earnest, patting himself on the back in a figurative sense for gaining the good place for the trip. He watched as Jove came out of his stupor to meet him. Correction, go past him. "Hey huh what?" he barked, tilting his head at the foxfire's new antics, bewildered as he pup took straight to the water without anything but the clothes on his back and- "JOVE DON"T MESS UP THOSE CLOTHES!" Damien yelled, getting right back into the big brother role, this time more stern than before. He did not want to carry back a sick jove as well as all the equipment back to Amityvile on his back, in the literal sense. Jove was going to get put in timeout later, and by timeout, the hound was planning to use his digging skills to teach the pup a lesson.

Damien's shouts fell on deaf ears, the pup was already happily splashing and paddling around in the water. His towel slowly sank, forgotten, as he dunked his head under to enjoy the unique sound of muffled beach noises. But he didn't stay under long, it was only half a second before he popped back up and looked over to see if Demi had the floaty board out. Except... he totally wasn't following. In fact, the hellhound looked quite displeased, standing up there on the sand, having started to set up a spot for them to drop their stuff... Oh. His stuff. The pup sheepishly made his way out of the water, stopping briefly to find his towel half-buried in the sand he had stirred up during his enthusiastic entry, and re-joined Demi up on the sand. He then lay out the towel apologetically so it could get some sun. Maybe it would be dry by the time they were done? Big, blue, soulful foxfire eyes stared into his friend as though asking "It's okay now, right?"

The puppy eyes did not work very well on fellow hounds. At least, that was true for Damien, growing up around clan members that would use it on him enough to gain a tolerance to it.
The hellhound gave Jove a dark stare, before picking him up, carrying his weight with two hands, one tucked behind his knees, the other resting on the middle of the foxfire's back as he walked him to the coast.
And threw him in.
"Now its ok." he replied without knowing the question, a mischievous glint in his eyes from the exchange. Jove wanted to go play in the water, now he could.
