Since he was little Macaria had lived in the jungles of the Usafi'tukufu. There was hardly ever a reason for him to leave his home. Even when his mother disappeared, he didn't leave the pride. No one knew exactly what happened to her. Part of him still worried about her. Since her disappearance, he had kept a close eye on his siblings. He knew that the royal family often kept tabs on him and his siblings, in case they planned on rebelling. Their grandmother had once been the queen. The current ruler probably was worried that they felt anger toward her since they should be the royal family.

Macaria sighed. He wasn't much into the colony's politics. The chance to rule was not something he wanted. He was sure even his darker side could agree to that. Both sides of him was a follower, even if his darker side proffered to have chaos around him.

He made his way though the thick grass. This was officially the furthest he had ever been from his home. He glanced back. The whole reason he was out this far was because the pride's numbers were low. It was hard looking for a mate in the pride as well, because there was a decent number of members he was related to. Right now it would be best for him to find a rogue leopardess and bring her back to the pride, that is if she was interested. He would never bring a lady back by force. That was just rude.

There. Bihotz's gaze locked onto the hare as she readied her muscles. She hadn't managed to find anything to eat yesterday and she was hungry. Leaving home had been the best thing she had ever done in her life, but being on her own she was learning wasn't as easy as she had thought it would be. She had been on a hunt once with another cheetah, but that had been right before she left. The reason she had left actually. Her father hadn't known she was doing it. She didn't ask him of course. She knew he'd disapprove. Like he always did.
Her return had sparked what was most likely their most violent argument they had ever had, but also their last. Finally getting the last word (and claw) in, she left with her head and pride held high. She never looked back.
But Bihotz kind of wished she had snuck off on a few more hunts now. She didn't really have the training to track or know where prey would be, but she had been quickly crash coursed in the first few weeks. But she'd never been in a jungle before and apparently there were new rules to hunting there. But her luck had struck now. It was flat land between her and the hare so she wouldn't end up tripping like she did yesterday.
Her muscles coiled as she prepared to sprint.

As he continued walking, his gaze upward toward the trees, he wondered about how long he would be out here on his own. He was sure his siblings were looking for their own rogue leopards to convince to return home with them. His sister would probably have a harder time as she wasn't the kindest of leopardess. He did hope she would find the one for her eventually, maybe after she did some growing up. Even if she was sometimes mean, she still deserved happiness. For all he knew that all she needed to become a kinder leopardess.

It made him wonder if falling in love would drive away the part of him that was cruel.

In the corner of his eye he noticed a patch of brown fur. It was a hare. He paused for a moment. Right now he wasn't particularly hungry, so he decided to keep heading onward. He kept his distance from the hare, not wanting to spook the poor thing. As he glanced back, he noticed another figure on the other side of the hare. He stopped and titled his head. The figure wasn't a lion, he knew that for sure, but the figure didn't look too much like a leopard either. For a moment he watched in silence.

She let her nature take over and Bihotz marveled once again at the speed she could unleash. It was always such a great rush to feel the wind whipping against her face. Before the thing could even react to her, she had the hare in her jaws. When she felt the life go out of it she dropped it to the ground and spun around. "Yes! I got it!" She laughed but when she stopped her eyes locked with a leopard.
She jerked back at the sudden appearance, but quickly lurched forward and grabbed the hare and jumped back. Dropping the meal again she glared at the leopard.
"Jezee! Where did you even come from?!"

Macaria continued to stare, words swarmed his head, but none would come out of his mouth. The deformed leopardess was talking to him. It took him a brief moment to remember how to speak. He wasn't expecting to be spoken to. “A-apologizes miss. I erm didn't mean to alarm you.” He gave her a small smile. He nodded in the direction of the colony. “I came from over there. My colony I live at is in that direction.”

He sat down. It was odd seeing someone outside the pride. “Are you from around here?” he asked curiously. It would be great if there was another leopard colony nearby, even if the leopards did look a bit odd. “I am currently looking for other leopards to bring break to my pride or even finding a colony that would be interested in helping us.”

It was a far reach thinking he would find help this early, but perhaps the odd leopardess could help him out.

Bihotz gave the leopard a hard look. It SEEMED like he was actually sorry, but you couldn't always tell. She'd have to keep watching for that. She looked in the direction he nodded to. There was a colony near here? She should be careful then to stay outside their grounds. "Well, I guess it's alright. Just don't do it again, okay?" She relaxed a little bit, but still kept her guard up. After all, you really can't fully trust males. "Am I within the colony boundaries? If so I apologize."

Bihotz shook her head at his question. "No, I'm not from around here. I come from fairly far way." She wasn't going to tell him where, even if all they found there would be an angry cheetah claiming he had no daughter. She listened to him speak about his quest and frowned, thinking. "Well, I haven't run across any leopards yet, let alone any of their colonies." She gestured to him "You're the first one I've met."

He nodded his head. Typically he didn't go out of his way to scare others. “I will be sure not too.” He said with a grin. He was thankful that she wasn't upset. “You should be fine here. We are outside the colony. If you do run into anyone from my colony you can tell them Macaria said it was okay to be here.” Not that his name really meant anything in the pride. But it wouldn't hurt to have her tell them that at least one of the pride members knew she was there.

“Fairly far away?” he repeated. “Like outside the jungle far away?” Macaria knew that there was more to the world then just jungle. He had never seen it for himself, only heard stories. If she was from outside the jungle, he knew he would have many more questions for her.

“It's a shame that you haven't seen any. I guess I'll keep looking though.” He said with a grin. Eventually he would succeed at his task, he just needed to be patient. “If you're interested, maybe we could explore this area together? It's the least I can do after scaring you, plus I am interested in knowing more about this area. It may sound silly but I've never actually been this far from my colony even though it's not very far away. I just never had a reason to leave home till now.”

"I take it that you're Macaria?" Bihotz asked. She didn't know what the colony was like, so it might be good to know someone from there in case she ran across some of the other members. But knowing his name meant that she should give him hers. She wasn't too happy about that. "Well, if it is, then my name is Bihotz'Indarra."

She nods "Yeah, I'm from outside the jungle. I'm from some of the plains to the east of here. Though I have no plans of returning." She didn't know why she said that last part. Maybe to make it so he wouldn't ask her more about it. She didn't know and it was out there now, so she didn't care.

"Well I hope you can find some more of your own kind." She thought he would leave after that but she eyed him warily when he asked her to join him. "Um... I dunno." She pawed the dead hare "I just caught lunch and I don't want to slow you down any more then I have."

“Ah yes! Sorry I probably should have mentioned that.” he said with a short laugh. “Oh I like your name. Bihotz'Indarra. Does it mean something?” He asked curiously.

His ears bent down when she said she had no intention of returning. He wondered if something terrible had happened. For now he kept quite about his questions about the lands outside the jungle. Perhaps later it would be okay if he asked her question. He didn't want to annoy her with question already.

“You won't slow me down. I mean you know the saying, 'slow and steady wins the race.' That is how the hare won the race.” He said with a nod. Then he glanced at her catch and paused. “Except no. No it was the tortoise who won.”

He let out a sigh.

'Idiot.' his darker side quietly said.

"What it means?" She blinked at him. She... wasn't expecting that. No one had asked her that before. "Oh er... It-it means 'The Strength of the Heart.'" She grumbled the last part out. When she says it out loud it does sound kinda embarrassing. But she really did love it. That name was the first and almost the last thing her mother had given her.

She stared at him during his 'slow and steady' monologue as he butchered it. She stared for a few moments longer before she started to laugh. She tried to keep it quite but she snorted and it burst out like a broken damn. She got herself under control after a moment and took some breaths to calm down. Bihotz smiled at him, the first true one she'd given anyone in a while. "That was funny." She gestured to the hare again "How 'bout this. Let me eat, then I'll go exploring the great unknown with you. Deal?"

"I like your name. It fits you really well." Names and their meanings were always interesting. He often wondered why his mother gave him the name she did. When he was younger he didn't think much about it, but now that he was older and she was gone, the thought would occasionally come across his mind.

He wasn't sure if he should laugh with her or not. At least she didn't call him an idiot right? He let out a soft chuckle a bit embarrassed, but quickly getting over it. "That sounds good to me!" A wide grin spread across his face.
