Acubens was still on edge. The fact that she was in familiar territory didn’t help; in fact, it made it worse. She was constantly afraid that some chaotic signature will register. In her neighborhood. Worse. In her home. Acubens’ heart lurched, remembering what had happened – god it felt like a lifetime ago. Her hand unconsciously drifted up to trace the outline of her scar beneath her fuku. It was still there, rigid and unbearably smooth. Smoother than she expected a scar too be. For some reason, Acubens had expected her scar to be rough and strange but… warped as it was, the scar had always been smooth, even pleasing to touch.
The thought shocked Acubens out of her reverie, her hand flush against her side. No, this mark marred her horribly, reminding her that she had not only almost lost her life, but also nearly ended her brother’s life. And had she been there even a little bit earlier… just a second earlier… To hell with that noise, of Acubens hadn’t even powered up in the first place her life would be so much easier. And she’d been fool enough to think that now that she was back things might be easier.
Cue Bischofite.
Acubens’ face contorted at the memory of what he had done. To her. To those civilians. To her impromptu team. That monster. Acubens would never know what twisted him so horrifically, but then, maybe she didn’t want to know. Maybe it was best that no one ever knew. So that no one would ever corrupt another human so thoroughly. There only needed to be one monster in the world.
Wrenched once more from her musings, Acubens locked onto the signal of another. There was no tinge of chaos to them but… that didn’t mean they didn’t work for them. For all Acubens knew, this soldier was one kill away from corruption.
“Not my family. Not ever.

Tonight, unlike a lot of other nights, Ida had wanted to patrol alone. Give herself some space to think about things, to sort through the conflicting emotions she felt.
Things had seemed so much easier when this whole thing started... Kill the youma, save the innocents, away you go! Now... now she had to deal with people wanting to kill her and the people she knew, who were capable of horrors her safe little world could never have dreamed of. It was like looking at the world through the proverbial rose-tinted glasses, and then suddenly having them smashed to pieces. Everything was so stark and hard edged... everything Ida had never been, but was learning to be. It was sink or swim, eat or be eaten, and she wasn't sure how she felt about the way she was starting to lean towards the 'eat' side of things.
Tonight had called for a change of pace to go with her weird need to be alone. Time to be away from the people and places she knew, especially after what had happened just the other night...
Gods, it had been on the news this morning...
Sarah Crystal, missing. Assumed kidnapped.
Ida knew they would never find her body, because that body had warped beyond recognition, before she had reduced it to dust. It was almost too much to stand and the flower senshi was forced to take deep, gulping breaths to calm herself before she went into a panic attack. A bus bench was as good a place to rest as any and she took a moment to calm the rapid beating of her heart as she sat on the backrest, her little purple shoes resting on the seat. She had to stop thinking about Sarah... about watching her twist and change. It was too horrible. Slender brown fingers shook as they pushed her gold-trimmed scarf back, giving her more room to breath.
Calm down, breathe.... Athene had seen it too and was a stronger person for surviving it. Ida wasn't a strong person, but for her friends, she had to learn to deal with death and pain and not let it destroy her. She had to be stronger, tougher than she had ever been.

As Acubens neared the source of the signal, it stopped moving. That, in itself, was strange enough. But then, as she rounded the corner, it was not only stationary, but it was even quite benign. Or at least looked it. The senshi sat motionless on the back of the bench and she might have been relaxing had Acubens not had a clear view of the girl’s face. She knew that look; she wore it enough herself. And she knew those breaths. And she also knew that if she didn’t wrangle them under control, she was going to lose the fight with the attack she was having.
This poor girl was no agent of chaos. Or, if she was, then she was very good at her job, and so deserved every ounce of Acubens’ pity. Not that Acubens would put her money on that option. No. This was a child who had seen too much. She knew the feeling.
“Whatever you saw,” Acubens sighed, plopping down next to the other soldier, “Must have been pretty bad to get you in this shape.” She looked up, arm opposite the senshi extended along the back of the bench. “Wanna tell a fellow veteran about the horrors on the front lines?”

Ida was so trusting of other orders that the fellow senshi's signature failed to register until she sat down, pulling her from her thoughts with a start. Her eyes found a senshi beside her that she had never met before and the teen mustered up a smile of greeting.
"Oh, hello! I'm sorry, I didn't even sense you, I was thinking so hard. Kinda oops on my part. I'm Ida." She said as way of greeting, offering her hand. "It's always nice to meet another new senshi. I was, um... Sort of thinking about my last run in with this Negaverse Captain named Bischofite..."
A bleak look crossed her agile face and she wrapped her arms around her ribs for comfort. "I just... Keep seeing it. I'm having a hard time thinking of anything else, really. Have you ever seen someone turned into a youma? And what's worse... I knew her. I've been trying so hard to keep my real life separate from all of this."
That had been the worst part... Seeing a girl die had been bad enough, but to have it be someone she knew made it so much worse.

“Acubens.” She said it with a warm smile as she took the other senshi’s hand. She didn’t fault the other senshi for not sensing her, though were Ida is a better place mentally, she would have lectured her on the dangers of checking out. Just because someone was order aligned didn’t mean they weren’t looking for trouble. Now wasn’t the time, clearly. Whatever Ida had on her mind, it was bigger than Acubens knew. And if Ida didn’t offer, she wouldn’t ask.
But then Ida did offer.
And Acubens went stiff.
Yes, yes, Ida’s thoughts lingered on something far bigger than Acubens first understood. She had thought that maybe was a particularly hard youma, or even a nast nega but… Bischofite. Acubens’ face contorted, shoulder aching with the memory of what transpired on the roof. She opened her mouth to speak, but only bile rose. Had Acubens been perched like Ida was, she would have fallen off the back. Instead she leaned forward, unaware of her actions through the spinning of her head until she felt her forehead hit her knees. Yeah, had she been standing, Acubens certainly would have fallen over.
“Bischofite,” Acubens finally spat through the thickness of her saliva. “I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him, but he hasn’t felt generous enough to use that tactic on me.” Acubens should count herself lucky.
“That monster collected me and three other Orders up on a rooftop and killed off four out of six civilians. Well, five civilians. One was a youma that attacked us when one of us ran Bischofite off. I am… familiar… with Bischofite.” Try as Acubens might, she could not keep the tremulous edge of fury out of her voice. “Sounds like he gave us both our first tastes of death.”

Ida was concerned at first, forgetting her own troubles as Acubens doubled over. A slender brown hand came to rest on her back as the teen bent over in concern. The words that came, though, made her blanch to a sickly pale color and she swallowed as she straightened up.
"I should have realized I wasn't the only one who had seen it, or that he had been doing this more than the once... I was being stupidly self-centered. I'm sorry if I upset you... It's just that all of my run ins with him have been bad. The first time, he had captured a civilian and I had to fight him off." Ida absently rubbed her chest as she related her experience, her eyes going a little distant. "It would have gone really bad if Leda hadn't shown up. She saved the civilian while I had him distracted, and then saved me when the tried to snatch my starseed."
The flower senshi shuddered at the memory, still not able to forget the feeling. Having it done twice now, she didn't think she would ever forget.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that, I really am. I never realized how serious this war was, but I understand it now. I'm just shocked how well it's all been kept from the normal civilians."

Acubens waved Ida’s worries away, trying to still the pinning of her head.
“You’re suffering,” she croaked finally through the thickness of her saliva. “You deserve to be selfish. Hell, you put your life on the line daily, you deserve to be selfish just for that.” Acubens stumbled on her words just slightly, body trembling with the effort she had not exerted as the adrenaline began to take its effect. She hadn’t thought Bishcofite had had such a profound effect on her, and she hid her shame at the realization in her mounds of hair. She leaned forward for a moment longer as her stomach settled, the indignity if Bischofite’s humiliation making that very difficult.
Finally she sat back up, tossing her hair back over her shoulders in a flurry of wild red curls.
“I have not had that pleasure either,” she sighed, glad that her own scar didn’t show with the conservativeness of her fuku. “He only dislocated my shoulder.” It still sort of ached, but it was nothing she couldn’t deal with. Boxing hurt her just as badly.
“Everyone I’ve ever run into before this was… different. Sure, I mean I’ve been attacked by Negas but…” She’d never seen one so twisted. Bischofite was a new, terrifying experience. Something no longer obsessed with simply eliminating the senshi, but something else. Testing them?
“He deserves to die,” she moaned, head falling back as the world tilted again.

"Its really not something I would recommend." Ida said with a hint of a smile, trying to lighten the mood a little. This was all getting very heavy, very fast, and she wasn't sure how much more she could take... she was lucky it wasn't her with her head between her knees. She watched the other senshi straighten up, feeling a tinge of regret that another person suffered because of this war none of them had started.
"I've been attacked like that before... by a general named Painite. She cut me pretty bad. I've got a feeling this is pretty... well, normal for them. Maybe not all are quite so violent about it, but all of them are out to hurt civilians, senshi and knights alike. No one is truly safe from them or their youma..." Time and time again the Negaverse proved how corrupt and evil they were... Ida wasn't sure she could believe that any of them had any sort of pure or good intentions. Still, she was not so far gone that she didn't think they couldn't be saved. After all... it was the corruption that made them act like that, right? At least, she assumed that's what it was. Even if they had been bad people before joining, evil called to evil.
The last thing Acubens said though... that made her eyes widen again and she bit her lip as she watched the girl try to steady herself.
Kill? Once, she would have rejected the idea outright, no thought needed. But... after everything, now she wasn't so sure any more. Certainly, people like him and Painite needed to be stopped, but killed? It was a horrible line of thought and Ida could feel her chest tightening as she struggled to keep from hyperventilating again. This was... really fast getting to be too much for her kind, sweet nature. When had her life dive bombed like this? How had she ended up actually considering someone else's death?
"Maybe, but... I couldn't be the one to kill him... or anyone. No matter what they've done." She said in a small voice, her eyes over bright and her teeth worrying her lip. Her jewelry made a soft noise as she tucked her hands into her lap, deep breaths making her chest rise and fall.

Bluefire Dragonz I'M SORRY THIS IS SO LATE I'M JUST GOING TO WRAP IT I'M SO SORRY OMG Honestly, Acubens hadn't considered killing anyone before Bischofite either. Of course, everyone else had just been a mild inconvenience at best. They were annoying and sure,t he sucked the energy out of people, but from what Acubens could tell there were no long term effects of that action. And besides that, Acubens could remove herself from the situation enough to understand that the taking of energy did serve a purpose, however malevolent that purpose was. It was a whole different story when someone was ending lives for the fun of it. It twisted her insides so hard that Acubens was afraid she was going to puke again. "I could." Acubens' simple statement event started herself. She almost looked around for who might have said such a thing, it was so departed from what usually came out of her mouth. She stared hard at the ground, wondering where that had come from. Wanting someone to die was one thing. Everyone had that one person they would kill without a second thought if they wouldn't get caught but saying that she would be the one to do it... that was different. What was even more alarming was that she believed it. Acubens hugged herself and hopped off the bench, concentrating on the ground to keep herself from shaking too terribly. "I... I have to go." What had she started to become?

Ida watched Acubens as the emotions took their toll on her, some of her own panic paling in the face of another's. There were times to be weak, and times to be strong... Or at least as strong as the stem of a flower, bent to the ground by a storm, that lifts itself back to the light.
As Acubens rose and mumbled about leaving, impulse took the super senshi and she swept to her feet and across the short distance to wrap slender brown arms around the other girl. Protest or no, she offered a small bit of comfort the only way she knew how. Her own suffering was nothing... She'd suffer for eternity if it meant it spared someone else.
"You're a strong person... Stronger than him, even if you don't know it." She said softly through the hug. Releasing Acubens, Ida turned and headed the other direction.
"Stay safe, and... Call me, for anything you need. Even just to talk. I'll be there."
