The pouring rain plastered Daenerys' mane to her neck and face. Her dragons huddled on her back beneath her wings, occasionally peering out to hiss venomously at the weather. Dragons lived for the dry heat. This blasting rain was the opposite of what they -or her- enjoyed. The khalasar was arrayed behind her, waiting for some sort of direction. Uncertainly, Daenerys looked in front of them.
A torrent of rushing water passed by just beyond her hooves. From their talks with the locals, Daenerys understood that the river was usually swift but shallow and easy to cross. She had planned on making such a crossing here, but luck was not on their side. The torrential downpour had made the river swollen and violent. Larger soquili could probably pass without too much trouble, but it would be dangerous to many others.
Daenerys sighed. She couldn't very well ask them to cross in this weather, but it wasn't exactly pleasant to be standing around in the rain either. Their side of the river had little in the way of shelter, and everyone looked soaked to the bone. She wondered when Roarke would return. She had sent him out searching to see if he could find a safer place to pass through the river. She hoped he had managed to find one...((Everyone else: Please wait for Niss to post with Roarke! He and Dany are going to chat briefly, then everyone can jump in. But no posting yet, unless you're Niss or me.))

The rainy weather didn't suit most soquili but Roarke loved it. So it was with a light heart that Roarke had gone scouting for Daenerys. He hadn't been planning to stay with her outside of the desert but something in his heart had told him it was the right thing to do. It had ended up with him being entirely surrounded by mares of all shapes and sizes. At one point this would have been a dream come true for him but now he had a duty to them and only feelings for one of the entire group. It was interesting how things worked out sometimes.
His good mood faded within seconds when he heard a noise, a rumbling and scuffling sound. Roarke's ears went back and he lifted his tail off the ground to proceed silently. What he found was a pack of wolves tearing at a single rabbit. He backed away slowly keeping an eye on the wolves that seemed too preoccupied to notice his presence. Once he was clear he hastened back to Daenerys and the others.
Roarke managed to keep a calm look on his face as he waded through the cluster of mares. They didn't need to worry. "My lady...bit of a problem." He said privately to the white kirilona. "We've got wolves. They're busy right now but they're hungry sorts and not far from here."

"Wolves," she repeated, her heart sinking. They had been remarkably lucky in that they hadn't encountered any predators or dangerous soquili... until now. Of all the times to be in wolf territory, now was the least ideal. She looked once more at the river, then back at Roarke. There was no obvious solution to this problem.
"And there are enough wolves to do us harm?" She knew that Roarke wouldn't be so urgent if the answer was no, but she wanted to verify it to be certain. "Do you think that they'd follow us if we moved downriver away from them?" The truth was that even though Daenerys had acquired many followers in a short time, she was still unused to leading them. There were many things she still didn't know... things like the best strategy for avoiding wolves.

Roarke cast a wary eye over the group that had been drawn to Daenerys's side. Every single one of them was smaller than he was and a couple would even clear his chest. "Not all of us, but some of us which isn't any better." He muttered. There were enough wolves to give even Roarke trouble. "They were fighting over one rabbit. An entire pack fighting over scraps. They'll chase us down as soon as they catch our scent. I could fight them off to give you time to escape but..." Roarke couldn't quite finish the sentence. If he went after the wolves there was a good chance that he would never see Daenerys again. There was a good chance that he would never see anyone again.
"What would you like me to tell the others?" He asked instead of mentioning the end of the only option he could think of. This was Daenerys's khalasar it was not his place to make the decisions for her.
