The planet attached to the star Denebola had been preparing for Remarque's visit for a few days now, ever since they had received word that the senshi wished to visit. As a civilization with few outside allies or connection, the chief was eager to make a good impression. Which was the exact reason Elu stood at the star's port awaiting his arrival. The chief had insisted that there was no one better to escort the foreigner than the star's senshi, in her powered state or not.
She stood at the star's dock, blue eyes sweeping across the platform as though he would just mysteriously pop out of no where. Her long ginger hair was pulled back tightly in a ponytail with a few pieces falling loose to frame her face, and blue and green feathers entwined in loose locks. Her tanned face was painted with dried red mud, almost matching the color of her hair; an upside down crescent moon on her forehead, stripes across her cheeks, accents by her eyes and strips across her nose and under her lip. Her dress was that of a dark brown leather/animal hide looking material tattered at the ends in loose jagged strips with an even more tattered looking light brown transparent sash draped across her waist. Her feet were bare and her hands were decorated in leather strings wrapped tightly around a tall ornately decorated wooden bow. Her sheath of arrows draped across her back.
She was armed, not because she worried about hostility from Remarque, because Denebola was infested with wild beasts and it was hard to say when something might slip from the foliage and attack. It was her job to ensure that the visiting senshi was escorted safely to the village. Her body was tense and she turned her head away from the landing dock to check that her mount still rested nearby.
Citali was a dragonfly of immense proportions easily the size of at least a full grown elephant, if not larger. It's body was lengthy for sure and the wingspan was twice that. It was a rich blue color, the color of the sky when it was at it's bluest, and nearly matched it's master's eyes. The saddle rested just before it's wings and holsters for blades could be seen attached. The mount would be their primary transportation while on Denebola.
Elu shifted her weight, playing with the bow in her hands as she looked again to the spot where Remarque would appear. She had grown antsy with anticipation. She had never liked to stay in one spot for long. If she had to wait much longer it was likely that the girl would begin to pace.

Remarque had a certain fondness for space travel, though he wouldn’t have gotten far had the ships been based on Remarquian design. They were lucky to have such good alliances with a few far more technologically advanced societies or they might never have even gotten off the planet.
He had been distracted watching the other worlds pass by; he had almost entirely missed the warning that they were landing.
It was a little rougher than he liked, but he didn't let that ruffle his feathers. The vessel was small, and despite its extensive care, the travel had not been easy on it. What once had been smooth, glistening metal plates were now scratched and dulled in places. It would need a good fixing up, but not here, and not now. It still had a number of other destination's, so Remarque's departure from the vessel was quick; the ship was visibly rushed and he barely had time to remove himself from the platform before the ship had sealed itself up and taken off again.
He took the time the ship was leaving to compose himself; the hair had mussed his hair and called for some quick clothing readjustments. He had come powered up, partly because he was so used to being in his senshi outfit and partly because that seemed more professional, though he had dressed up a bit for the occasion. His hair was getting a bit too long to manage in a timely manner, so he'd spent a little over an hour to perfect the many braids. The majority of his hair was tied up in a high ponytail and it, along with the braids, were decorated with a few beads and trinkets that to match the purple and green of his outfit.
After smoothing himself off (and after the ringing from the ships departure had left his ears) he looked up and grinned at the girl in front of him. A quick glance to her weapon left him on edge, though his smile didn't entirely waver. He was obviously still taking everything in; his eyes were darting all around, trying to etch every little detail into his mind.
He had to force himself to be social—and to make sure he was in the right place.
Which would have been a great thing to do before his transportation left, but he was willing to put his faith in them. "Hi," he greeted somewhat awkwardly, approaching the girl who seemed to be waiting. He hoped it was for him, because this place was already looking a hell of a lot different than the home he was used to. "I'm Remarque, I," he gestured towards the empty space where the ship had just been. "I just…got here."
…Obviously.
"I, uh. I love your feathers, hi," he said quickly, sticking out his hand quickly in greeting.
Definitely best to get over awkward introductions as quickly as possible, before he had a chance to say anything stupid.

She watched him impassively as he exited the space vessel, secretly relieved that he had finally arrived. Her shoulders relaxed and she hoisted the wooden long bow into the air as she strolled forward. "Hello," she greeted in return, with a slight nod of her head. "I can see that," she responded, an eyebrow arching upward in amusement. "How was your travel? I trust you did not run into any problems?" Her head tilted back towards the sky as though another ship would suddenly land before them.
There had been some trouble around her star. Space pirates.
She opened her mouth to introduce herself when he complimented her, she smiled politely and touched one reflexively. "Thank you," she mumbled taking a moment to look away. Blue eyes swept across the expanse of foliage as though something might spring out at them at any moment. She turned back to him, composure softening a titch, and spoke, "My name is Elu."
She looked as though she was going to say more when the rustle of leaves had her turning her ear toward them. It happened in a matter of seconds, the slight hum followed by a crash through the trees and suddenly the girl was throwing herself at the blond full force. For a brief moment, as they collided with the stone platform, they were a tangle of limbs and any words she might have said were lost to a roaring sound and an overly loud hum of wings.
Elu wasted no time spring back to her feet, bow raised and arrow ready but the beast had gone. It's body could still be seen in the distance, wings beating with the furry of a humming bird and the body of some sort of feline. She cursed under her breath and returned the arrow to it's sheath. She turned to her grounded companion, biting her lip she extended her hand. "My apologies. They move to fast to halt mid-flight without warning."

Remarque had not moved as quickly as Elu, nor did he seem to have the same calmness she possessed. He looked a bit stunned and blinked a few times before he realized that he was expected to respond. His heart was still pounding and he could hear the blood rushing in his ears. He wasn't sure if his breathing was ever going to return to normal.
Remarque took her hand first, pulling himself up; instead of words an awkward laugh fell form his lips. "Yes, sorry. I'm not…"
He paused, retracted his hand, and immediately attempted to adjust his attire and smooth out any imperfections. He peered around her, looking after the creature that had approached so quickly. "I'm going to be very honest with you right now, Elu. I have no idea what just happened. And what—what is that thing? And where did you learn to move like that? You are impressive!"
…And probably just saved him from a very gruesome fate. His mind was already imaging what that beast in the distance might have done to him had Elu not been so swift to act. He wasn't so sure coming here had been such a great idea though he was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt that this wasn't just some elaborate death trap. He wanted to see more of the place, just…not if it was going to try and kill him.

Her quick reflexes were a result of countless years of tutelage. It was the way of life on Denebola, where danger lurked in the depths of the thick forests. She had been born with an addition weight upon her shoulders and her teachings had been harsher than most. She had long since lost track of how many times she had been left out, alone, as a survival test.
If their senshi could not stand the trials of their planet, then where would the rest of them fall?
"It's..ah," she paused, because she didn't think he would understand when she told him it's native name. "Trochilion. A avian feline. They're nearly impossible to stop when in motion, they move too quickly to shoot," her head turned to see that the creature vanished from view. "It's midday, their favorite time to hunt." She brought fingers to her lips and whistled. Her dragonfly mount lifted itself from it's resting place and flew over.
"You'll be safe with me," she assured him. "Get on." She gestured to the saddle and waved him on expectantly.

Midday? What kind of creature had such gall as to hunt midday?
…Obviously one that was totally capable to do so.
Remarque had goosebumps all across his flesh, and while he nodded when Elu gave the creature's name, he would not have been able to repeat it had she asked. "I trust you," he insisted; though was looking scrutinously at the beast she expected him to get on.
He did not have the best experience with any sorts of mounts, though he had never exactly ridden a dragonfly. The creature was fascinating, though he couldn't shake the idea that it was still just a giant bug.
That was probably waiting to suck his face off, judging from the rest of the wildlife on this planet.
He shook his head and forced another smile. "Yeah, sure, no problem. Let me just. You know, get on over there." He laughed awkwardly, trying to shake his own trepidation. It wasn't entirely successful, but he approached the dragonfly, pat the saddle (as if he really needed to test the durability) and then heaved himself onto it. His lips were pursed and skewed to one side and he didn't seem confident that he was in the saddle right; he wriggled a bit and then looked to Elu for approval.

It was perhaps the first time since their meeting that Elu gave Remarque a genuine smile, of course it came of her amusement at his hesitation at climbing aboard Citali's saddle. "He doesn't bite, unless you're an insect." She pretended to look him over seriously. "Which you don't appear to be, besides he's a trained one. You only have to worry about the wild ones." Unknown to most, dragonflies were just a quick, if not quicker, than hummingbirds and often their prey did not escape.
"The good news is, however, that our dragonfly mounts are much quicker than Trochilions." She observed him solemnly as he clambered on struggling to sit upon it appropriately. When he looked to her for approval she offered a weak smile and slight not before strolling over to the saddle herself. Slinging her bow over her shoulder she reached out to place her hands on his hips and adjust his position. "Scoot back," she instructed before hoisting herself up and settling in before him. "I recommend you hold on to me, lest you fall off."
Her fingers gathered the leather reign into her hands and she glanced back at him, ginger hair falling off her shoulder. "Ready?"

Another uncertain laugh. He was still recovering from the embarrassment of needing help getting settled in. "Oh, you know. Just about as ready as I'll ever be." He tried to cling to a smile, but his lips were quick to purse, as though he were trying to brace himself for something terrible.
As if the giant insect wasn't enough to make him nervous, he had to deal with being in exceptionally close proximity to a beautiful girl.
While he should have been looking forward to the closeness, his concerns were vast as he tried to judge what the best manner of holding onto her was. Hands on hips? Or was that too romantic? Hands on shoulders? No, that was just tacky.
For a few seconds his hands hovered awkwardly at her sides before he just sucked it up and wrapped both arms around her torso.
Better safe than sorry, right?
…And it totally beat not doing that right and toppling off the dragonfly. He wasn't sure how tightly he was supposed to be holding onto her, so while he was expecting the worst, he didn't want to choke the life out of her. Instead, he was relying on his legs to keep him attached to the saddle as he hoped for the best.
"Eh—yeah, I think I've got it. I mean, if this is good for you, I'm good."
He hoped.
