Nyiim hated this part. After the meetings, the friendly nights and performances, Niadra always had to go home. It had been happening since they were children; Niadra had never been a constant companion for her lack of a permanent residence. When they were younger, it had mattered less. There were always other things to do in the village and other children to play with, but friendships only grew deeper with time. To see the young woman go was almost like seeing a sister leave... almost. Nyiim remained stoic, though, as they stood alone by the settlement, preparing for their goodbyes.

"When are you coming back?" he asked, "With your Shifter friend, of course."

Time had flown, way faster then Niadra would have wished. When they were younger it wasn't a bad thing, she was always happy to leave on a new adventure, but now that they were older... Well Niadra had a harder and harder time leaving Nyiim every time. However she wasn't about to give up her dream for someone, nor would she expect some one else to do for her. It was just part of the life she lead.

He stood looking as handsome as ever, not making the departure any easier on Niadra. Luckily she was already packed or else maybe she would have been tempted to stay. When he asked when she was coming back she shrugged. "I'm not sure, but I know we won't be gone for any longer then normal." How come Niadra was super talkative, but when it came to times when she needed to talk she had no words. "You better be here when I get back." she teased with a forced laugh. Why was this so hard? This was Nyiim she was talking to! She'd known him forever!

The prentice gave an incredulous kind of sound and smirked to his friend.

"Of course I'll be here, where else would I go?" Nyiim posed, running a hand back through his hair The bracelet Niadra had given him was proudly displayed around his wrist. "Besides, if I was going to run away with anyone, it would have to be you."

That much was true. While he would like to see the rest of the world some day, it would be alone or with the only nomad he trusted. He did not enjoy the idea of a traveler's lonliness, and Niadra had offered so often that he was beginning to actually consider it. His friends and their families moved on in life, but he seemed stuck somehow.

When he ran his hand through his hair, seeing the bracelet she got him made her proud. She was happy that he liked it so much that he wore it, and part of her hoped it was scare off any potential girls that might think he was available and want to scoop them up for themselves. Then the next thing he said melted her heart, if it was possible for it to be more melted. Run away with her? Yes, she wished he would.

"Well good, I would hate to lose my longest friend." she stammered. "Maybe I'll come back with something else for you to wear, or at least more tales about the outside world." she offered him. She wasn't sure if he would want more gifts, wasn't it typically boys who gave girls gifts instead of the other way around, but still she could tell him stories. "Hey, maybe by then I'll have my own companion." she said wishfully. She had always wanted a pet, even more when Nyiim got Bosede, maybe soon she would get one of her own.

"What, like a pretty dress?" Nyiim asked, entirely deadpan as he looked to Niadra. It took a moment for a smile to crop up, denoting that (thankfully) Nyiim did not in fact have any secret lives that his friend had yet to learn about. "You know I love your stories. Any are welcome. I haven't been... anywhere. One of these days I'll get out. Still trying to find my way and all..."

He wondered how it felt to know from childhood just what you wanted to do. Had it been Niadra's choice at all, considering that she had grown up in a traveling troupe of performers? It must have been, he decided. You could not sing and dance with such passion if you weren't actually interested. That came from somewhere else. Somewhere personal and amazing.

"Just don't go wandering into abandoned temples to try and find them, hm?" he teased, and turned as he heard a familiar thumping. Bosede emerged from the foliage and passed by his master for a brief stroke before beelining for Niadra and trying to hide his head in the space between her arm and waist. His tail wagged slowly.

"I think he'll miss you too."

What? For a second Niadra's face fell. Why would Nyiim want a pretty dress. No, just no. That would ruin everything. But then as a smile came upon his face she realized that he was joking and pushed him lightly on the chest with a laugh. Good, he had her worried there for a second. Then again, she would know if her best friend in the whole wide world liked to do things like wear dresses. Right?

She nodded. "I have a good feeling that you will find you way soon Nyiim. Maybe even before I come back. I guess we will have to wait and see, but I have a hunch. And I'm normally right about these kind of things." well she was right except for the hunch that one day he would see her feelings for him. So far he seemed pretty clueless, or at least he acted clueless.

She laughed when he mentioned how he had found Bosede. "No promises there, from what I understand wandering into abandoned temples is the very best way to find companions." she teased back. She heard Bosede before she saw him and then felt him as he came to see her.

She bent down to scratch his head. "Awe Bosede, I'll miss you too. But you have to stay here and keep my Nyiim out of trouble since I won't be able to." although she always considered Nyiim hers, she had never said it in front of him, and if she hadn't been so focused on Bosede she would have realized what she said and tried to take it back. However she was more focused on Bosede then what she was saying so a blush didn't even reach her face.

"In my defense, I didn't go looking for Bosede, he just found us," Nyiim nodded. Granted, his scavenging companions had been more afraid to varying measures and Bosede had taken a liking to him specifically. Maybe his past master had been a Leaf Earthling with long hair? What ever the reason, he was eternally grateful.

"I hope you're right," he added then, giving a bit of a dejected sigh. He certainly hoped she was right. It would be nice to know what he was going to do with his life.

Bosede, meanwhile, removed his head from Niadra's gut and began to lick at her hands. His tail returned to its usual healthy, quick wag.

She shook her head. He still shouldn't have been in an abandoned temple. Plus his companions hadn't been of any help. Most of them were even scared of Bosede. How could anyone be afraid of him? Than again she already knew him so it had to be different for her.

"I will be right, and maybe talents will be more recognized among my family by then as well?" she wondered. That was one of her dreams, to be recognized as the best dancer in all of the world. Sure it was a big dream, but hopefully she would make it happen. And than she would have to make Nyiim see how perfect they were and they could have a family.

Or maybe she should make Nyiim see first? Hum... That was always an option... "So will you miss me?" she teased with a laugh as she played with Bosede. He was always so happy, it made her happy.

"Don't worry," he assured his companion, "There are those of us who already see what talent you have. We're young yet. We'll get our time to shine."

Of course, he wasn't actually certain how long they'd have to wait. Some of their tribe seemed to peak at the birth of their first child, and climb no more. others were recognized as great hunters and warriors of their time. He had bigger dreams than the average expectations, and it seemed as if Niadra did too. Perhaps they'd find their way together, and hopefully not too far apart.

He was a bit shocked at Niadra's question too, but he looked to see her delighting Bosede. The raptrix happily lapped at her hands, once lifting his paw to capture her arm.

"Of course I'll miss you, what kind of question is that?" he asked, and then nodded softly. "We don't say 'goodbye forever', only 'goodbye for now'."

She nodded. Yes they were young, not younglings anymore but still not consider adults yet. Sure she was respected in her troupe, and she knew that Nyiim was in the village, but at the same time they weren't given the respect that adults got. Not yet anyways.

When Bosede captured her arm she laughed and threw her arms around him. When Nyiim said that he would miss her she beamed. "I know, but even good by for now sucks..." she wanted to add that hopefully one day they would never have to say goodbye, but she didn't want to push her luck.

"Maybe you could find Bosede a girlfriend while I'm away? So I can have a puppy." that was the closest she was getting to talking about a girlfriend around Nyiim. Gosh there was so much she wanted to say but couldn't say. Not yet.

Nyiim laughed openly then. What a choice of words!

"Yes, it does 'suck'," he relented, nodding, "but it's not so bad as 'goodbye forever'."

He looked down to Bosede then who seemed rather glad that his affection wasn't being denied. The tribesman tilted his head.

He hadn't seen another raptrix around Tale, and wasn't sure where he would ever find a female. It wasn't a bad idea, though. As tame as Bosede was, he would make a grand start for future generations of domesticated raptrixes... raptrii? Well, now he'd have something else to consider.

"I don't think that's a terrible idea, actually. I'll ask around and see if anyone knows of any more raptrix in the area. I'd feel more comfortable with your tribe having a baby Bosede than something wild and untrained..." Oop, had he said that aloud? He did not like the idea of Niadra out on her lonesome, protected only by the men and women who protected the clan. If she had a protector that never left her side, he could rest easier.

At his laughed Niadra beamed. It was such a sweet sound, one that she didn't hear nearly as much as she wished. Nodding she couldn't agree more. Although she wasn't happy about saying good bye for now, it was much preferred to saying goodbye forever. "Well we shall never have to say goodbye forever if I can help it." she said while raising one eyebrow and laughing.

She nodded. It was a wonderful idea, and it would also bring the two of them together. After all if their animals were to make than they would have to spend time together? Maybe that would mean more time for Nyiim and Nerida to spend together. "A baby Bosede, I would love that." she said as she played with Bosede. "We can protect ourselves though. I just want someone to keep me warm at night." she said nodding. Like you, she thought. Again, so many things left unsaid.

A lover would probably be better for than that an especially large raptrix, wouldn't they? He almost hated thinking it, but they were both coming up on that age. If there was ever a threat to her returning, it would be a lover.

"Well, I'll see what I can do. I don't know how long puppies take. If it's the same as children, there may not be any the next time you visit." Hopefully that would be sooner rather than later.

"The next time you come, we should go out exploring... gathering, maybe? I don't know. Sometimes I feel like I need to leave the settlement."

She nodded. "I'll keep my eyes open on the road as well. Who knows, maybe I'll come back with one already grown." she said with a shrug. She had never seen raptrix for sale on the road, or any animal really, but that could be just because she hadn't been looking."

The next thing he said surprised her, and she had to work hard to hide her surprise for her face. Leave the settlement? He wasn't saying that he would go with her and her family, but that was an amazing first step. "Yes, that sounds good. We can explore and than if we find anything bring it back, and if not, well at least we would have made an adventure out of it." she could see it now, just the two of them out exploring together. How romantic, well of course Bosede would most likely be there and her raptrix if she got one, but still it was a romantic vision.

Nyiim nodded and offered a soft smile. He was only now realizing that he had never taken Niadra on any of his little excursions. For all the times he had decided to just wander away, he had never had a bipedal companion. That didn't count the exploration party with which he had found Bosede, of course, but that had been in the hopes of great treasure. It had been fruitful, even... perhaps more so for him than the others who came away with material possessions. Still, an adventure was an adventure, even if you came home with nil.

"I like that idea. If all else fails, I can bring you to a few old places. The temple where we found Bosede has been fairly abandoned, although I can't promise we'd go in very deep. I've found plenty, just... not much worth anything." He did have a small collection of souvenirs by his bed, but it was nothing to write home about. Arrow heads, strange stones, a broken piece of something or other; the only person these knickknacks would mean anything to was Nyiim himself.
