Anahira stretched out on the sand. He'd royally screwed up the last time he'd attempted to contact Maline. He'd slipped up and started acting like his father. It was an action he deeply regretted. The shetani wondered if it was something he would ever get over. He didn't like being an a** like that, not in the least.
It was brooding like this, Anahira let his guard down. He'd been on the constant lookout for the demon he'd scared off. At the very least he wanted to apologize to her for terrifying her the way he had. Yes, he still wanted to do horrible things to her, but not if she was going to react the way she had. It... He didn't need to do that. He knew he shouldn't.
He sighed, looking out to the waters in front of him. The sound of the waves gently brushing against the shore was something he found soothing. He vaguely wondered if any other pae thought the same thing. There was so much on his mind right now. Mostly, he was about to give up looking for Maline to apologize...

Tourmaline stepped out onto the soft sand of the beach, an empty satchel over her shoulder. She had come out for the low tide, planning on bringing back the shellfish that she could get dinner for Uncle Raziel and Aunt Tora. Her aunt loved anything from the water, so it was the least she could do after they let her take refuge in their home. She noticed a figure laying in the sand farther down the beach, and squinted to see who it was.
Her heart stopped and her body froze for a moment, then she turned and quickly started walking away. 'Get home; I have to get home... He didn't see me, I should be fine.'

Hira glanced to the side, he knew he'd settled in close enough to a home to possibly be an issue. He blinked, seeing a familiar green and purple figure. He must be seeing things. The shetani blinked, seeing Maline one moment and a flash of blonde hair the next.
He scrambled to his feet, trying to chase after the demon. "Tourmaline?!" He called, doing his best to follow her in his right mind. He knew she'd probably run off and assume he was going to follow her as well as he did last time. Guardians if she only knew how different he was from that time.
"Please don't run away Tourmaline!"

She could hear him call her name the first time, but she kept going. If she pretended she couldn't hear him, maybe he'd- nope, he called for her a second time. Damn it....
Against her better judgement, she slowed and then stopped, then slowly turned around to look at him. Her mouth was set in a thin line and she brushed her hair from her face. When he got a few yards away from her, she held out her hand for him to stop and took a step away. That was close enough.

Hira couldn't believe his luck. She actually stopped to listen to him?! That was a shock he wasn't expecting. He took her signs clearly, stopped when she held her hands up. He was acting like an entirely different pae than she had been chased by. In truth, he was.
"I'm sorry Maline." That's what he'd wanted to see her for right? It had better well be the first words out of his mouth. "I didn't mean to scare you. It's not what I wanted at all." He frowned, rubbing his neck. There wasn't any way to explain why he did what he'd done. At least not without going into his entire life story.
The shetani frowned on that just a little, but he would explain if that's what she wanted from him.

Tourmaline waited, her red eyes locked on him with an intense stare. It took her all her self will to not look surprised as Anahira apologized to her. Really? Did he honestly believe himself when he said he hadn't wanted to scare her, because she certainly didn't.
Carefully, she crossed one arm over the other and raised one of her eyebrows. Her lips pursed a bit and shifted to push her hip out a bit. She didn't even need to sign, gesture, or write to communicate how she was feeling.
Slowly, one of her fingers began to tap against her bicep; she was waiting for more of an explanation.

Hira winced a bit. That was a look he was used to. She really did deserve to know what had happened to him.. The shetani chewed his lip a bit, trying to figure out where to start. He didn't really want to go into his entire life story, but it looked like there wasn't much of a choice at the moment.
After a moment of debating, he sat down. Hira gestured for her to take a seat as well. It was more of a peace offering than anything. "It's a long story, you might want to sit down." He suggested, looking up at her.
His green eyes gazed into her own brilliant red ones, pleading for her to take the peace offering. Regardless, he launched into his story.
"A lot of it has to do with my father. He... Isn't the best pae in the world. I'd chalk him up to one of the worst actually." He frowned. "He kidnapped Mom and held her captive. It was one of those spur of the moment things. Mom and I think of it more like love at first sight." Hira sighed. To think Phim was capable of love. What a joke. "Well, Mom does. Anyways. Eventually she wound up pregnant with my sister and I, and he treated us about the same way he treated Mom. Not very well." He chanced a glance towards her to see what her reaction to all this was.
"It wasn't until I got a little older that I realized what was happening. He was trying to make my sister and I be exactly like him. My sister wouldn't have any of it. As for myself... He got in my head." Hira ran a hand through his hair. "Quite badly at that. I feel like there's two of me. The evil half and the half that regrets everything he ever does. Normally the evil half doesn't ever come out, but when I look at you... It's like I'm fighting myself for control." He frowned, not knowing another way to put it.

She hesitated at first, wondering if sitting was really going to be a good idea. Something about the way he looked at her, the way he suddenly looked so uncomfortable in his own skin. WIth a sigh, she sunk down into the sand on her knees, plancing her hands in her lap and tilting her head to show she was ready to listen.
As he started his story, her eyes softened and she began to feel pitty for him. His father was a monster, that much she could understand, and she wondered how many of his markings were more the results of his father. Taking a deep breath she reached over and took his hand.
She ddin't quite forgive him for the chase he'd given her, but he certainly deserved a chance at maybe having someone to hang around that knew what he went through. Someone who maybe didn't hate him.
Standing up, she gave a tug on his hand before letting go, then signing something to him slowly. Pausing, she wrote in the sand.
Help me pick mussels.
Pointing to each word, she gave his sign or gesture for each word, then got up and dusted the sand from her legs. Sure, it wasn't a GOOD thing that he felt he was fighting an evil version of himself around her, but at least now she knew that while she had to be careful around him, his aim wasn't to make her hurt. And if he was going to hang around her, he was damn sure going to learn how to read her signing so she didn't have to write every single thought out.

Hira exhaled, feeling like he'd gotten a weight off his shoulders. He was glad she would at least tolerate his presence right now. It was more than he'd hoped she would do. At the very least, he had just wanted to apologize. He never would have thought he'd have told her everything that had happened. Okay, he didn't mention what his father did to them, but it was better that way.
Picking mussels? He could try that. And then she made signs pointing to each word. He followed her motions, though he didn't know what they meant. He could only assume she was trying to teach him how to read what she was saying.
"Thank you." He mumbled quietly, following along behind her. He wouldn't loose control this time. It was something he needed to keep locked down tight.

Tourmaline looked over her shoulder at Anahira as he followed her to the surf's like, then smiled a little. She stepped carefully over the rocks, peering into pools until she found one with a plethora of shellfish to chose from. Setting the satchel on the ground, she carefully stepped into the knee-deep water.
Looking over to Hira, she grinned a little and gestured to the pool next door, inviting him to help with her chore. She had to admit... he wasn't half bad when he was being a decent pae and not scaring her with a wild chase through the forest.

Hira followed her like a lost puppy, pausing at the waters. He didn't really want to get wet. He wasn't the waters biggest fan. But then, he didn't really have much of a choice did he?
Taking a deep breath, Anahira took a step into the tide pool that Maline had suggersted to him. The shetani winced, feeling the water ensnare his legs. He really didn't like the water. In fact he would be down right afraid of it if weren't for the fact that he knew Maline wanted him to help pick something out of here.
"What's a muscle?" He asked, not really sure what they were.

Seeing a few larger ones sticking out, Tourmaline grabbed to one and pushed hard to snap it off. The water was cool against her skin as she sat there, using her weight and strength to pop off a few more.
Hearing Anahira's question, she popped up from her hunched position and grinned a little. With one of the shellfish already in her hand, she lightly tossed it over to him so he could see exactly what he was hunting for.

"Oooh, those things." He grinned, picking up one of them from his pool. Okay, it wasn't his pool, but it was the area he had been told to search for them in. This was harder than it looked. It was, however, much easier to distract himself from the fact that he was knee deep in water and really only had his back and wings sticking out of it.
"This is harder than you make it look."

Tourmaline placed a hand over her mouth and made the motions of laughing. She climbed out of her pool and walked over to Anahira's pool. Squatting down, she lifted her arm and patted her bicep. She had arm strength... and she knew how to use her leverage to break their bases off.
Using a foot to nudge Anahira over a little, she slid into the pool next to him. For a moment, she panicked, watching him and making sure he wasn't really going after her. Blinking, she shook her head a little, then pointed to a group of mussels. She shook her head again, more forcefully; those weren't good because they were going to be harder to break off. Pointing to another couple of mussels, she placed her hands at the base of one, grasping it, then pushed her entire weight on it to snap it off, and a grunt escaped her as she exerted her strength.
Turning to Anahira, she held out the mussel to him and smirked.

Well, that would explain why he hadn't been able to get any of the mussels he was trying for. Hira had been almost terrified when she climbed into the pool he was sitting in. His response to her joining him was to simply back up as far as possible.
"Makes a little more sense..." His head tilted, watching her closely. He was pretty sure she was using leverage to break them off whatever it was they were stuck to. She had told him to the best of her ability that the group of mussels was a bad idea. Very carefully, Hira reached over to one of the muscles she'd been working on.
It was his turn to try. "I'm not going to hurt you." He offered, shifting to get a better angle on the mussel he was trying to pry free. With a little work, he'd managed to pull the little mollusk free of the water.
"I did it!"
