Alexander spread his wings and took flight. The sky was clear and as blue as the ocean. No cloud in sight. His eyes flicked over the land below, keeping a calm and careful view of the tree's and the plains.
Those were not the source of his interest, neither were the forests but the mountains that were stretched out in to the distance.
Now. Why would he be going to the mountains at the other end of the land when he had a home in the mountains?
Well, these mountains that he was particularly interested in weren't just any mountains. Gossip had caught his ears on his previous walks of the land and apparently there was a shrine herd there and where culture and tradition differed, his interest laid.
Spotting a river below, he snorted gently and narrowed his body downward in to a glide toward it's whereabouts. Making a quick move to maneuver his wings so that his landing would be a swift and easy one. Rather than a sloppy mess.
His hooves touched the grass in a graceful manner and with a pleased smile, he looked behind him to the wings on his back and folded them once more in to his sides.

Ofelia's ears flickered as she arranged a pattern of leaves to the side of the worn path on which she traveled. She could have sworn she heard something but as she glanced along the earth she could not spot what could have caused the noise disturbance. She shrugged it off as the wind and turned back to the leaves which she was disappointed to see had moved when she had looked away. She sighed and blew them all into different directions. She supposed that she should get walking again while the sun was still in the sky.
The mare was on her way to investigate rumors of a mountain that released steam. The news she heard of this location always came to her her by a friend who was told by a friend's cousin's child's friend. Or something else too distant too count as proof. Felia took it upon herself to find this mountain and investigate. She loved to travel and hadn't climbed a mountain in ages anyway so the prospects were enticing even if the steam wasn't actually present.
She trotted back over towards the path which would lead her to the mountain when she heard muffled steps. Curious the mare followed the unknown sound. As she poked her head out from behind a tree she saw a stallion folding his wings as he stood in the nearby grass. Ofelia bounced, excited to see another traveler as they had been few and far between as she had made her way. He had the appearance of an angel with his graceful wings folded to his sides. Felia often wished she had wings, but luck did not allow it. Smiling she approached the stallion from the side. She stopped within a few feet of the stranger and cocking her head to the left she greeted him with an enthusiastic "Hello!"

His wings now perfectly aligned, he switched his gaze on to the river. Stepping closer to the edge he arched his neck down and took a drink from it's clear contents. To his delight the water hadn't been bathed in, at least not recently, the taste being rather refined.
Ears twitching, he caught the sounds of hooves leisurely trotting nearby but it didn't disturb him and he was content with drinking his fill as the source of the sound drew nearer to him. To his surprise, whoever the hooves belonged to had approached.
Lifting his head slowly and narrowing his eyes off to the side in order to greet the stranger with them, the last of the water dribbled from his lips;dampening the grass within his shadow.
"Why hello there." He didn't smile but grinned back at her instead, giving a nod of his head, his tone was a measure of bewilderment but he was appreciative of the company. "Lovely day, wouldn't you agree?"

Ofelia twisted her head about looking at the sky around her. "Yes, it is rather nice out today." She had not really noticed that it was quite so pleasant out until he had mentioned it. She had truly just been relieved when it stopped raining the morning prior. The mud was all dried up and the road was intact again which made her traveling far easier.
"So, what are you doing here?" she asked before bending her neck to take a sip of the glassy water. She quickly jolted her head back in surprise, and then swallowed. "I didn't expect it to be quite so cold!" she laughed merrily. "Though I guess the rain must have made it here too and cooled it down. It tastes much better cold I think." She rambled good intentionally. "Oh! What is your name?" she continued. "Did you say? I don't think so," she said answering her own question. "My name's Ofelia, but you can call me Felia if you'd like."

This was good, this was different. This is exactly the type of adventure he was hoping for. The chance to be free, to learn of new and exciting things and to meet those that were... Not quite so ordinary. Not that his family was anywhere near ordinary but he wanted to know other crazy, charming people too and this mare screamed crazy, sociable, charm. He continued to show her his dishy smile as she answered his question and followed with her own, quite forward questions.
"Dip, did you say dip? I think you did." He laughed and in a moment of both chance and spontaneity he slowly lifted his tail in to the air and brought it around to tap the mare in to the drink. She thought it was cold drinking it, she had to be feeling it now! Giggling away to himself the stallion felt oddly satisfied by the action and just to make it fair, more so that he wouldn't feel so guilty of acting out of turn, decided to join her.
"Make way!" He called, made a short run away from the river and then turned to return to it in stride, lifting his wings to air his dive bomb straight in to the waters contents. Names were boring, questions were boring. This was fun, this was adventure. Never knowing where the moment would take you. He decided to be more impulsive from now on, when he wanted to be.
After gargling half the contents of the river he popped his head above the surface and gasped, spluttering out what remained of the cool liquid and shivering to reflect how he agreed with the mares, Ofelia's, earlier observation.
"Ok, maybe you were right. This waters freezing!" While he stated this, that grin never left his lips though he was starting to realise while he was amused, she may not be....vballlvr5 Sorry for the huge wait

"Ah!" Ofelia squealed as she splashed into the water. Giggling she tossed her blanket onto the river bank so that it wouldn't get wet and splashed all the way into the chilling water.
"You better watch you back, stranger" she mock-threatened him. "Someone might just try to get revenge against you if you act out again." She sucked a mouthful of water in and sprayed it like a fountain at him. "That was weird, looks like I may have super water powers. I guess you should be on guard" she laughed.
"And I guess you should also know that I have a tendency to be right" she said as she splashed around in a vain attempt to warm herself. "This water feels like what swimming in a shadow would," she shivered both out of cold and the sinister image she had placed her own mind. Shaking the dampened feathers in her mane she planned to exit the river before she felt her limbs would freeze over.

Glad that the mare had a sense of humour and hadn't immediately taken to scolding his fleeting state of immaturity, he continued to laugh in the amusement of her actions. "Ooo I'm shaking." He flashed her a playful wink. Keeping a careful eye on the distance between them, in case she truly was masking any intent to harm him for what he had done.
Women could be crafty, he wasn't new to that!
Surprised by the sudden spray of water, Alex's eyes widened in feigned horror as the cool liquid hit him like rain. "Please, oh beautiful water spirit, have mercy!" He sang in reply, lips moulding in to a smile as his ears caught the ring of laughter coming from her own.
An odd concept, swimming in a shadow. He was familiar with the idea that walking in shadow was much cooler than when in the light but that was the contrast his family lived with every day. He glided around the water carefully, spreading his wings out in the water to keep him balanced.
Ripples shed from his wings and dispersed over and over again. Eyeing her as she made her way over to the edge of the pool in what he believed to be a retreat. "Not too fond of the cold?" He called to her, still relaxing while he floated about.
