It had been a few weeks since Nuri had encountered the King, and since than she had opted to stay in the den and rest. For the past few days, her stomache had been upset from the constant movement of the cubs she carried, and she had a feeling deep in her gut that it would be time any day now. Since she had resided in her den, she had become constantly dependent on Chomo to get almost everything for her; however, though she didn't quite like to depend on others, she didn't quite mind when it came to her mate.
Taking a moment to muse to herself, she started to wonder if they had indeed become mates. It was never verbally stated, but every action that the two committed seemed to scream that they were mates. Chomo looked out for Nuri when she was forced to be den-ridden, and she in turn started her own trust, depending on him to keep her alive while she couldn't get her meals or her water. He also declaired he would not leave her, nor the cub's, side anytime in the future, and she believed him. If she were to run away, she knew he would follow and stick by her side.
Letting out a sudden grunt a moment after her mind let out that muse, Nuri found a pain moving through her body, up her spine, and to her mind as she was numbed right after. Her fur standing on end and her body letting out a shutter, she shifted to try and releave the pressure only to have another one push through her system. Though the pain had been happening lightly for the past few days, this time it seemed to want to stay with her. Starting from where the cubs were nestled protectivly in her lower form, she could only let out a feather-light groan and rest most of her weight to the side. Keeping her face stotic, she looked to the entrance, her eyes silently calling for Chomo to return soon from where he had disappeared earlier.

Wether it was through coincidence or through some deep rooted empathy, Chomo happened to be on his way back to the den, he had been out hunting most of the morning and had so far only managed to secure a rather meagre lizard. Nevertheless he brought it back to Nuri, hoping that it would sustain her and the cubs sufficiently for a time. He made his way through the blackness of the inner caverns with an ease borne of familiarity, his feet seemed to know the way better than he did.
However, as he drew near the cavern he called home, he did get the oddest sensation that something was amiss, perhaps a slight scent of tension on the air, something alerted him, but he pushed it aside.
Still with the lizard held in his jaws, he walked into veiw of the lioness who meant the world to him and grinned
"Hop' oo 'ike 'izard." he said before placing the reptile on the ground.
Only then he noticed something was up.
"Nuri? You okay?"

As soon as Chomo's soft scent filled the den, Nuri found herself letting out a releaved sigh before her head became bowed. Still, the meager possition seemed to do nothing to releave the pain that continued to pulse through her system. It was slow at first, but she suddenly had to sense that it was getting closer together, and that was never a good sign.
Head shooting up a moment later at Chomo's first words, she was silent until his next question shot up. At that moment, she let out another soft gasp, though she meant it to be a sigh, and she tried to act as if nothing was happening.
"..." She could not collect her words at first, but soon enough she had gotten enough composure to say something without any gasps or stutters, "Chomo, it is the cubs." She left it at that for now as her dark eyes glanced back up to gaze into his warm ones.

Chomo wasn't sure wether to be worried or excited at Nuri's words. Did this mean that the cubs on whom his thoughts had dwelt so often of late were on their way? Or were both they and their mother in trouble? The result was that he was filled by a combination of both emotions, unsure what to think, however, despite the worry and duality that paced within his mind, he found the strength to look calm and reassuring as he nuzzled Nuri.
"Are they on their way?" he asked, not sure how wlse to broach the subject. He could never comprehend the wonder of the female form or it's innermost workings, he didn't doubt that Nuri would have a better grasp of the situation than he. After all, Finar-si herself was female, she would never allow something to happen to one of the Blood over passing on that blessing that she had given to a younger generation.
He could see the obvious pain that Nuri was in and it pained him too in a way, leaving him fruitlessly hoping that he could take whatever she felt and share it between them both. It did not do that she suffered alone at his expense.

For a quick moment, she returned the action full heartedly, rubbing her cheek against his and letting a slow smile cross her maw. When they were alone, she could show him anything, and at the moment she would show her pain and her reliefe. He was helping her, though he could not take the pain away, he soothed her heart with his support.
"I believe so..." She said softly, before she paused to let another wave take its course, "...they dont seem as active, though the pain is enough to give me the sign of their coming...they are ready..." She let out a soft laugh, the joy overwhelming her as the birth was taking place. With the pain, joy, and nervousness of something going wrong all pushing through her, she only had the focus to look at Chomo, not seeing anything else.
On the outside, her body was perfectly still, as if nothing was wrong, and the only sign was the shift of weight. However, her eyes had lost the veil, and that was easily the way Chomo saw her emotions, just like always.

So this is what it would've felt like if Denahi had been around for Rehani's labor and birth of his three cubs. The tension was held thick in the air that you could amost cut it with a knife. Denahi watched from outside the cave as Chomo entered with the lizard in his mouth, before gazing into the den where Nuri's form laid. He debated whether or not his should risk the chance of going inside to try and..comfort? her, and in the end, he was reeled into the sandy cave.
He was quiet for a moment, only shifting his eyes up every now and then to gaze at Nuri and Chomo before quickly casting them back down to the ground. Sand was quite interesting, if you didn't know. "Is...there anything you need?" Denahi asked quietly, shuffling his paws as he stood.

Chomo lay down on the sandy floor near Nuri, protective and concerned for her. He didn't doubt her abilities however and the thought of the cubs whose arrival he had been waiting on actually being there, capable of moving and eventually seeing, warmed his heart till he felt he might burst.
"I will be right here." he said, every honesty in his own eyes.
He merely looked up when Denahi entered the cave, despite the other lion being considered a "slave" here, Chomo trusted him to an extent. He didn't think he would harm those who gave him a ticket into the great firekin lands and expected little in return. He gave him a sort of anxious smile, from male to male before looking to Nuri to see if there was anything at all that could make the birthing easier.

Lookin towards him as he moved to lie down next to her, Nuri just sent him her own smile and than glanced to the entrance. Shifting lightly, she wondered if she would need anything, but realized that she had no idea what to do just yet. It was only the first time in truth, so she didn't know what would be needed in the future.
"Rest for now, Denahi." She said softly at last, "There may be a time later, but for now all we must do it wait." She looked away from him a moment later, and took another deep breath, the pains, as predicted, coming closer together with each moment. If she wasn't sure she had cubs, she would have figured it was something serious, but now all she knew was it was the circle of life. Though all of her pain, she was to survive, so she would go through more for thoes inside of her.

The charcoal male nodded, glancing up at Chomo to see the anxious smile. He, however, didn't send the gesture back at him. Instead, Denahi kept his eyes on the ground. Nuri had told him never to look into the eyes of the firekin, and the last meeting he adn her had he'd recieve a few wounds that made sure he didn't look where he didn't have too.
The slave shifted on his paws once more, turning away from the two crimson lions and sitting outside the den. What better way to help then to stop any other feline or predator from entering the cave when Nuri was at her weakest?

Chomo watced Nuri closely but still, despite it all, tried to stay calm. Zen. He wasn't to worry. "It's the waiting that's the killer" he grinned anxiously, hoping not to offend, after all, he wanted whatever pain Nuri was in to end quickly.
He joined Denahi in his close inspection of the floor for a time, his tail swishing. What would he say to the cubs when they were born? What if they didn't like him? Then what?

Nuri felt her eyes narrow as Denahi turned away and headed to the entrace. It wasn't of any sort off annoyance, but it was just her getting her mind off of the pain. Denahi appeared to have learned a major lesson, and she was realived at that fact alone. As long as he learned from his first mistake, and never made it again, he wouldn't have to worry about any more wounds. She may be a Firekin, but she had her morals as well, and one of them was not making a same mistake twice.
Turning her head away from where the dark Adolescent sat, she smiled towards the words Chomo had stated before shifting to move closer to him.
"But once it is all over, all of the waiting and pain is forgotten, right?" She said softly, before lowering her head. Why must all of the pain come so suddenly, for had she really prept for it, she wouldn't be as affected. But even than, all she needed to do was tell herself over and over that it was all worth it. Because in the end, it was.

Chomo nodded "When the pain subsides, the firekin will have new blood in their midst." it gave him tremendous pride to know that he and Nuri had helped to carry on Finar-si's blessing and that their cubs would be born in the homeland of the greatest pride in all africa.
"And I can bet any memory of the pain will be replaced by better memories the cubs will give us."

All she could do was smile, his words warming her heart as she shifted again. Yet, before she could even answer him, her eyes hazed with a tremendous amount of pain, and her body was forced to push a mass that appeared lower. Without thinking, she followed the demands with her mind fading, memories also gone as she did not recall the effort it took to push the first creature out.
It was an amazing boy, his form small and colored like the night. Clearly, he had adapted his mother's thick raven coat, however his markings were lightly standing out. It would be clear, that as he grew older the markings would lighten, but now all they were, were slight lightenings. Her first son had been born, and all she had to do now was rest before she would be summoned to bring forth her second. Taking the moment to lift him, she gently cleaned his coat and settled him close towards Chomo.
"Our son..." She whispered to him with a soft murmer.

Chomo had sat by quietly as Nuri went through the birth of the first cub, respecting her tremendously for her handling of the agony that no doubt ran through her body. However as she placed the cub in his paws he went to a place beyond words. The tiny form curcled softly in his paws was smaller than he could have guessed, his pelt silky black, markings faint but there. He looked like both of them and neither at the very same time.
"He's so handsome!" Chomo cooed, pride practically coming off him in waves "A firekin to the bone."
The cub paused to look up at him for a moment, his baby-blued eyes unseeing for the most part. Chomo had a good idea they would fade to red as the boy aged, after all, both of his parents had deep red eyes.
He was thrilled to bits. ---
Ra however was far from thrilled to bits, just a moment ago he had been snug and cosy, wrapped in a blanket of warmth so tight he could feel nothing else. The only sounds had been the three heartbeats, one his one, one equally quiet and the other a loud thumping, his mother's. He had heard voices but the words meant little.
Then it had all changed. He had arrived in a rather distressing world full of sound and dryness, he was no longer swimming but breathing in gulps unfamiliar air. His mother's rough tounge had cleared his fur and pushed the liquid from his chest, now he breathed his first breaths of a life unknown.
The next event in his -already hectic- day was to be placed in the paws of a rumbling giant. Chomo's voice was both gentle and amazing to the cub, and it was all he could do to listen to him. He had known his mother so far, known her heartbeat, scent and colour- a red that filled the world- and now this other, a face to the sounds he had heard.
Still, he was hungry and he mewled impatiently at Chomo, illiciting a chuckle from the large form above.
