Asclepius sat on a fire escape ladder on the side of a building a few blocks from her refuge, dangling her legs off the edge. Fortunately she had enough skirts to rearrange for modesty, though it occurred to her that it might be a bit difficult to get up from her position without flashing her undies. At least it was dark out, and this part of town was nearly a ghost town.
That was what had made it such a good place for a safehouse. She had taken up Sailor Pollux's idea from some time before, and made her own place to keep first aid supplies and senshi-related items away from home. Thus far, the Senshi of Medicine had not really had a chance to use it, but of course there was always some degree of comfort in not -needing- medical supplies. At least she had them now.
On a whim, though, she had phoned Sailor Sisyphus perhaps ten minutes before, and invited him to come. It had been a few months since she had gone and called him by accident while she had been cleaning the place, and she figured it was about time she let someone else in on her secret place. In case they needed it or whatever.
She rested her arms on one of the metal bars, and swung her feet a little in the air below her. It was dark out, especially with a nearby street light out, but Asclepius would feel him coming.

In truth, Sisyphus probably could use the sort of thing she had at her disposal -- because, as his energy signature solidified into a physical form, it was clear he wasn't exactly at his best, left eye ringed with a bruise, the sign of some fight gone wrong, and two fingers taped carefully together. Those, at least, would patch up on their own. The rest, maybe a bit longer -- He blinked up at Asclepius as he stepped up under her perch, raising one hand in an uncertain little wave. He wasn't exactly sure why he was here, or what came next, but his flash of smile was hesitantly excited.

She waved back and then motioned for Sisyphus to join her up on the ledge.
Asclepius' expression changed to a concerned frown as she noticed his injuries, though. "Youma or agent?" she asked, then waved off the question a moment later. "Never mind. I have a safe house nearby that I wanted to show you. I have ice and stuff there if you need anything."
Carefully, she got to her feet, then smoothed her hands over her skirts to get all of the fabric laying properly again. "It's just a few blocks that way, from the top of this building," the Senshi of Medicine added, making a gesture reminiscent of shooting a basketball to indicate direction. "I sort of hope that we can get some other senshi in on it, too, and use it as a sort of headquarters when we need to. And if you have anything to keep there like I do, just let me know and I can try to make space for it."

Looking at his face made Sisyphus wince, lifting fingers up to halfway cover it up -- hide it from her line of sight. He was only too glad to let the conversation move away from that and onto something else. Though, no, ice and stuff wouldn't really go amiss -- "...I'm sure people would like that." He cleared his throat, somewhat awkwardly, staring off in the direction she'd pointed, hand still light against his face. Maybe he'd forgotten it was there. "People get into trouble and the...the hospital gets parents involved and..." He shrugged, and blinked up at her instead. He wouldn't move until she started; then he'd trail in her wake.

Asclepius started off in the direction of the place, the neighborhood below them quickly changing to one in general disrepair. The surroundings had made it cheaper to buy the top-floor studio that she was working on turning into a sort of command center.
"Yeah, for my day job, I work in a hospital," she replied as she lead the way, pausing now and then to be sure Sisyphus was not having difficulty keeping up. "I've definitely seen injuries that were from youma and things. Everyone here knows that it happens, but everyone still has trouble admitting it. Sometimes I wonder if someone I've helped there is in the Negaverse, and is in the hospital because they got their butt kicked by one of us."
The Senshi of Medicine stopped on a flat, black-tarred roof bordered on one side by the peaked roof of the next building. There was one window in the center of it, though a set of curtains, uncharacteristically clean for the neighborhood, hung to obscure the view into the room within. A set of metal bars had been fitted over the window on the outside, as well, secured by a padlock.
"But then, 'do no harm', like the oath says," she added, walking towards the window. Producing a key, she unlocked the bars, then slid the window open as she continued, "Apparently I did it in a past life, too. Sailor Asclepius did, I mean. Treated Negaverse soldiers." She lifted the sash until it provided a small but not uncomfortable portal into the room, then gestured for her visitor to enter first.
"You okay to squeeze through?" Asclepius asked. "There's a sturdy table inside to help you down to the floor. There's a door, too, if it would be uncomfortable for you this way. Door's just a pain to open sometimes." It needed edges scraped down and some hardware screwed in more securely so it would not take quite so much manhandling to get open and then shut again. Or, really, the door just needed to be completely replaced.

"I can squeeze." It came out hesitant, his expression thoughtful; eyes on her for a moment before he actually looked at the window. But it was still fair. Sisyphus wasn't exactly a big guy, and probably never would be. The runt of the litter. Swallowed by his brother's shadow. And he usually didn't mind one bit. After just a moment he went through: nose wrinkling just a hair as he brushed up against the door frame, dirt smudging across his uniform. White was such a terrible choice for these things. Whose idea had that been? He'd wait for her, on the other side, taking in what he could and righting the hat on his head. "And, um. I don't think it's bad to help people, whoever they are. Maybe it'll make them change."

The room within had been painstakingly reclaimed from time and disrepair. A bucket filled with mostly-used bottles of cleaning products sat in the corner by the aforementioned door, and a garbage bag beside it was filled completely and tied shut, with a single paper towel tube trying to escape out the top. Drips of a careless paint job were frozen on the walls, but the paint was at least now white, save for some faded stains that Asclepius had been unable to remove completely. The furniture in the room was old but clean, as though recently purchased from a yard sale: the table to help visitors through the doorway, a battered grey sofa, a small refrigerator, a desk buried under a pile of small boxes, and a cheap-looking table with three matching chairs.
Asclepius' heels clomped down on the table as she climbed through the window, and she inhaled sharply through her teeth at the sound before leaning out to pull the metal grating shut. Once that was accomplished and the sash closed, she stepped down from the table to the floor with a bit more care, and made a gesture around the room with one upturned hand.
"Not too much, but I didn't want to spend too much money on it in case I had to abandon it for whatever reason," she explained.
She pointed at the refrigerator with one toe. "You can keep what you like in there more or less, but my one rule is that the only alcohol allowed in here is rubbing alcohol. This place won't be for parties, and I hope we can all keep our heads in the fight, at least as long as I'm providing drinks."
Asclepius seemed about to show him something else, moving to a large cork board she had installed on one wall, but one sheet of paper towards one end of it caught her attention instead. "Oh yeah," the Senshi of Medicine said, tapping the printed page. "I saw you're on here, too. Have you met anyone else whose name is on this list? Just curious."

Asclepius said she didn't want to spend much money -- and that made Sisyphus blink all the more, clamping his mouth rather pointedly closed on a comment about how nice it was. In truth, her battered couch looked better than the one his house; the table was cleaner; the fact that there was a fridge left him blinking helplessly. He circled slowly, uncertainly, poking at the table and then finding his way up next to her. "Um. I've only met like. Four people." He cleared his throat, peering up at the list. "What's this about?"

Marcella had money to spare, from her own job on top of the savings plan her parents had in place for her. She could have bought new furniture for the hideaway, she figured, but had gone with mostly second-hand instead. The room had to be complete, at least, and the Senshi of Medicine had found the cleaning to be largely relaxing, if extensive.
Hazel eyes glanced back to Sisyphus. "Our space rocks are in the same group, apparently," Asclepius said, pointing to the heading on the printout. "It's not a huge deal, though, I guess. I was just curious of any of the others were ... in play? Awakened?" She tapped her bottom lip momentarily, trying to come up with a better word; failing that, the girl shrugged and continued. "I haven't met any, though, either."
She was quiet for a moment, studying the list, then turned to face Sisyphus again, crossing her arms. "Have you been to your planet yet?"

She got a breath of silence -- his head tipped to blink up at her, any words stunned out of him while he thought about the...well, the trip. The trip that he had taken to thinking of a dream, that hadn't quite seemed real enough. "Yes." It came out halting, his eyebrows knitted. That wasn't really enough of an answer, was it? Sisyphus crossed his arms over his chest and looked away, instead, eyes raking over the names on the print out. "It was. Um. Surreal. And creepy."

Though she had more or less gotten over the lingering fear that the mummified bodies of her own homeworld had brought on form her early visits, the memory of the place came on strong this time in particular. Gooseflesh covered Asclepius' arms and she shivered slightly in spite of the relatively warm temperature of the room.
"I know what you mean," she replied with a slight frown as she rubbed her forearms. She shook her head slightly, then continued, "Have you had any visions there? Of the one who was Asclepius before you?" Quickly realizing her mistake, she hastily corrected, "Er, I mean Sisyphus, sorry."
But after the Senshi of Medicine thought about it a moment, she added, "Actually, have you seen visions of Asclepius? He was a man, with curly hair and a beard, and sort of Greek-looking robes." Not very helpful, but she had not seen him yet, really, only the half-finished statue in the hall, and in the darkness of that room, Asclepius was not sure she had caught all the details of the statue, either. Colors of his hair or clothing were anyone's guess, as well.
She reached out to the page, skimming the list of names as she traced her index finger down it. "If we see visions on our own worlds with the people on this list, then maybe they were important to us in the past. Like we were a group or something, if our planets were so close."
A pause.
"Well, if we even get anything that helpful. I've had precious few glimpses, and I am not even totally sure that's what they were. The people I kept seeing were only out of the corners of my eyes. Well, the living ones, anyway."

"...I didn't see anyone, it was just...empty." He hesitated, eyebrows knitting while he thought about that, head tipped to the side. "It was big, and hollow, and echo-y, and empty. There was paperwork, though, I think. I remember paperwork, anyway. And lots of hallways that looked the same, and...." And that was about it. He shrugged, looking up at Asclepius and trying to come up with something that might be useful. "Broken glass and...and I don't know. Distant voices."

"It's okay," she told him. "I guess we should be glad we get anything at all, rather than having to do ... I don't know, archaeology from scratch. I wouldn't even know where to start on my world."
Asclepius thought of the darkness of the hospital asteroid, and how it would take a real expedition to explore all of its interior. A map would be a nice thing to have, too, maybe, though it might be difficult charting it if she could not be confident just where inside she would turn up each time she dialed up there....
She shook her head, realizing she had gotten lost in thought with her guest still there. Then the Senshi of Medicine moved towards the door that they had not bothered using to enter.
"Anyway, I think I might see about getting some kind of number-pad lock for this door, once I fix it, so we won't have physical keys running around, you know? I can just tell people the number to get in." Then she crossed her arms, leaning down to get a better look at the lock mechanism that was already in place. "It would be really awesome if we could get some kind of ... card key system that would only recognize senshi cell phones or whatever, kind of like what we have for security in the hospital. But I think I like the idea of a keypad rather than having keys get lost in the meanwhile until we invent one."
The brown-haired girl turned back to Sisyphus. "And until I get that lock thing set up, I guess just call me on the senshi phone if you need to get in here?" Her brows drew together slightly and she asked, "Do you want me to take a look at your fingers, or do you want an ice pack or anything while we're here?"

He was looking down at the lock, too, his hat off and head cocked to the side, trying to imagine what the keypad would be like. He'd never had a smart phone, as nice as it sounded, and his senshi phone was still...well. A mystery, to him. It was used for calls. When his eyes flashed up onto her, they were doubtful. Strange alien tech didn't seem compatible with whatever there was down here, advanced or no. "..fingers...?" But then he seemed to fall back into himself, holding up his hand and grimacing a bit. "Oh. I don't know. Yes?"

Asclepius took his hand carefully, looking over his fingers. Then she looked to his face as well, frowning in sympathy at the bruises. "If you don't mind me asking, who did this to you?" she asked quietly; the brown-haired girl's tone hinted that she hoped it would be someone she could beat up a little in return. It perplexed her at times, this occasional desire to really hurt someone in revenge that she had felt towards some select agents of the Negaverse.
Then she offered him the key she had used to enter the hideout. "Until I get the number-pad locks installed, you can hold onto this. Come here when you like. I have a bunch of different pain killers if you need them." She stepped back from Sisyphus, then moved to one of the cabinets to open it and show him the neat rows of pill bottles. Then the Senshi of Medicine crouched to open the small refrigerator and took out a bottled water, then a frozen gel pack from the tiny freezer area at the top.
Returning to Sisyphus, she held both out to him if he wanted to take either or both. "Whatever else you need here, even if it's time or space, feel free. Just please do not invite anyone else here without texting me first, I guess. So I know who knows about this little refuge."
