User ImageAuri had been rather bored and pensive. For some reason he couldn't fathom, he had a tough time thoroughly enjoying looking at himself in the lake's reflection as was his normal doing. In fact, he did it so much that he had something of a minor reputation among them who knew him. It was something of a joke that his main 'job' in the pride was to adore himself. This actually wasn't even a job really; but he dedicated his life to this pursuit. If anyone were to ask him if it were even possible for his feelings for himself to grow or develop or do anything that represented effort in himself; he would be completely stumped. For Auri fumbled to even contemplate the thought that there was anything he could do or learn that would make himself better. He was already the gold of the earth. He was by far too handsome and gorgeous to dirty through laborous tasks. His dancing for pride festivals was the furthest of any activity that wasn't for himself that he'd do.

And, really, because of all the things this pride had been through given the last year of weather and mother nature venting herself in their locale; he felt that it was the least he could do. He had been trying to attend more events more faithfully. He realized that there might be youngins looking up to him. His general feeling about that, however, was that he was doing them all a favor by being there. They got to look upon him. If one of them were lucky, the ladies or the boys' future daughters might get to marry him. Or, in the very least, they might have his babies.

This was the Auri who sat at the edge of the water. So much water. It did seem to stretch on for quite a bit. Though it did seem to him that the flood waters had started to recede at a consistent rate; it was impossible to maintain a regular spot. It was also hard to spend a lot of time there at the banks without getting muddy. How he despised getting all dirty. This had led to his recent habit of frequent bathing. That allowed him to be clean and look at himself in the water. This summer afternoon, he had no intentions of doing a single other thing than having a nice bath.

I forgot who I said I was going to use, so I just went with his sister!

The two could have been cousins, or niece and nephew, but it would probably throw anyone off guard to be told that Auri and Vevilla were siblings. From the same litter on top of that. The two were pretty different especially personality wise. Vevilla was the type of lioness who didn't care much about herself. She was too busy being caught up in everything else in the world. She spent more time dancing and flirting than anything else. And occasionally spending time with her grown children. Although it was hard to get her to settle down, there was one thing for sure she didn't corss her mind that often. On top of that she was pretty opposite in the way that she loved getting into messes!

The playful lioness spend a lot of time making messes mostly because she loved to play. At times she was child like and honestly she knew it but she also knew that she had a lot of fun and that was much more important to her. She loved having fun and enjoying everything that she did. She also enjoyed mucking around in the mud. Which was the reason she brought herself to the water side. She was sitting by the water front. Mud splattered her face and on her chest but more importantly it was all over her paws and legs. she was making a... "Sand" or mud castle. And having the most fun she had had in a while. That was until some one caught her eye.

She looked up and could see her brother wandering. She wandered over with a smile on her face. Her tail flicked behind her once again as she wandered over "HI Auri!" She said with a huge smile on her face, her tail flicking around behind her mud dropping as she did.

Auri's eyes flickered a few times. He was definitely more than a little surprised to hear someone wake him from his vain reveries. It wasn't often anyone bothered to interrupt his attempts to be turned into a flower at the edge of the water like in some ancient foreign myths. His surprise grew a tad more to see that the one who called him was someone that he knew right away.

He ran up to her, but he slid to a cautious halt when he got close enough to see all the mud on her. "Why... hello Vevi. How are you today? Good to see you taking a break from all your motherly duties to come have some fun. It's good to take time to enjoy life." Not that life couldn't be enjoyed with a myriad of children and other daily duties, but Auri was too immature and lacking in life experience to truly understand that. Someday, the powers that be might look down and send him a lovely lady who'd teach him that there's more to life than one's own reflection. However, it hadn't come to that place in time for him yet, and thus he often related to others in that shortsighted way.

It gave him a good deal of comfort that at least Veville and her children were able to survive the floods and things that had gone on in their homeland for the last year or so. He smiled at her in an appreciating way. He did have a good deal of value for all her differences from him. He always enjoyed when everyone was at least a little different. He felt it gave everyone more value to be more unique and individual. Just as a dance is made up of many steps and a song of many notes; Auri felt that lions needed to be just like that as well. He felt their camaraderie and harmony would blend well and create fun dances that were pleasant on the eyes and made others wanna join.

"I see you're enjoying the mud. Well, if you like the mud, there's no shortage of that. Especially in about a half hour. The day's water will recede a little bit, and this shoreline will have another half foot of mud. It'll be fresh."

Whoo! >D

One thing was for sure and that was that Vevilla always enjoyed her siblings. Her tail flicked around behind her and she flashed a bright smile at her brother. She paused for a moment shifting on her feet letting her feet sink down in the mud a little. She paused once again and then turned her attention to the male once again. "Silly! They're old enough to handle themselves now." She winked They had been old enough for a while now.

She turned her attention to him and then at the mud. "But this mud is just fine brother!" She said with a toothy grin before starting to trot toward the male's side. Her grin was a little suspicious. She knew her brother cared a lot about her appearance but there was one thing for certain and that was that she couldn't help but to want to mess with him because of things like that. Her tail flicked around behind her with a big grin on her face. And then she moved, she bumped her mud covered body against her brother, making sure to get some mud on him as well. "Don't you want to play in the mud as well?" She asked the grin still wide on her maw.

Auri attempted to nod along with her when she mentioned they were old enough. He was nodding as though it were something he knew or was just kidding about. He actually couldn't remember how old they were, but he just mirrored her smiles. Well, he was mirroring them until they became full of trouble.

His eyes grew a little weary. He wondered if he had bone pieces from lunch stuck in his teeth and maybe she would make fun of him. When she expressed liking this mud just fine, he shrugged. "To each his or her own they say."

When she had come around to brush up against him, he gasped loudly. Then, he got up and kept trying to turn around to see the dirty spot on him. "Ack! Sister... what did you do? How will my pelt delight the masses of our pride if it's hidden under this mirey mud. ACK!" It was probably pretty comical how worried he got. Luckily, he hadn't been prone to anger or violent outbursts. Then again, those things weren't exactly his style.

He felt like he was looking dumb by not doing anything about this treachery, so he gave her a solemn stare. "Oh sister... now you've gone and done it. You leave me no choice but to do this..." He brought up a big paw full of dirt which he quickly but gently pressed right into the center of her face. "There. Now we're even." He winked playfully at her.

Her grin grew more and more at the idea getting her brother completely dirty. "Yes to each their own!" She giggled a little more just thinking about what to say to him. She flicked her tail around still digging her paws into the mud a little more. His reaction to the mud wasn't that surprising, She did grow up with her brother that is there wasn't much efford that she had to put into guessing how he was going to react.

She wasn't going to comment about him wanting to make the rest of the pride happy with his pelt. She had no clue what to say about it that was for sure. What she really wanted to do was cover him in mud but she didn't have a reason to yet. The mud on her face didnt' bother her that much that was for sure but what did was the next comment. "Even!" She giggled she couldn't help but to let out a pretty big laugh. She motioned toward her paws and the bottom of her body. "That is not even at all!" She referred to the mud covering most of her body. "We can be even though!" She took a moment to get a lot more mud on her paws and then she started to reach the mud and then started to toss some at him. Trying to get as much mud on him as possible.

He just laughed and tried to play it off. He tossed his head from side to side nonchalantly. He then crooked his neck backwards as to pull his head away from a flying piece of mud. With a little bit of a tad annoyed but mostly mischevious snicker. "Ohh... Dear ... dear dear dear sister..... Whatever am I to do with thee....."

He then got a fantabulous idea if ever he had one. He then quickly approached up by her. "Oh... look at my dear sister... looking all filthy and dirtying her perfectly good fur that could resemble a bed of stones in a river creek. That really is too bad..." He made a soft tsk tsk noise before suddenly hoistering her up in his arms to throw her into the lake. While tossing, he gave a yell. "Now, this'll clean you off!" He thought maybe that was much better revenge.

Sorry this took so long! I've been super distracted D:

A smile grew on her face as she started to watch her brother open up and stare to get really playful with her. It wasn't often that things like this happened. Not only that but it also wasn't often that her brother played with her in situations like this. He normally cared so much about his coat, but that was a major difference between her and her brother. Vevilla couldn't care at all. All that Vevilla could care about was having a great time and making music.

She laughed as her brother commented on her pelt. "I don't mind getting dirty though!" She laughed batting at the lion, next think she knew her brother was trying to knock her over but to her happiness he neded up coming with her. She couldn't help but to laugh, her tail flicking around behind her. She couldn't help but to laugh a little more. "You're going to have to do a lot of cleaning to get clean at this point!" She couldn't help but to laugh, she swiped her paw reaching out to slap some more muck on her brother.
