It was just before five thirty when the couple made it back to their room. Heidi hummed cheerfully as she tossed her wallet onto a table near the chair she'd left her bag in. She made a happy noise as she stretched her arms above her head, sighing contently and grinning back at Tuck after. "That was so fun~. I'm glad we did that." She turned to her bag to start digging through it. She took out a pair of black flats with small bows at the toe, dropping them on the floor before she carefully took out the dress she had put in her bag. Good! It wasn't in bad condition. It was put on the table so she could also take out a short leather jacket. "What do you think? Super cute, right?"

She left the table to approach Tuck and reached up to drape her arms over his shoulders, leaning forward into her boyfriend with a curious look. "Did you wanna take that hour long shower you were all excited about before or after dinner?" Yes, she remembered their talk about it. Yes, she remembered she'd agreed to take it with him. Because I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I don't want to be away from you even for an hour.

Thine beau cannot read thine mind. Heidi could swear she felt Matilda rolling her eyes.

"This whole trip has been fun," Tuck chuckled lifted his eyebrows at the sight of the dress. Damn. "Ain't sure I can wait to see you in that," he dipped his head at the dress, a pleased smile lifting the corners of his mouth.

He kind of froze when she asked about the shower, clearing his throat.

"I'ma take a quick shower, long enough to rinse the grime from the beach an' s**t offa me. That hour long shower gonna wait til tonight," Tuck dipped his head to press his lips to Heidi's.

"Else we gonna be late for dinner."

Yay! He liked the dress! Heidi felt a swell of pride when Tuck complimented it. Awesome. She'd picked well.

When Tuck decided he'd just take a quick shower she didn't think anything of it at first. "Okay~." Heidi giggled and stood up on her tip toes to meet Tuck for the kiss, letting him decide how long the kiss would last. Wait. they'd be late? Heidi blinked. They'd be..late? It wouldn't take them thirty minutes to get to the restaurant..

Geeze. Way to make your girl curiously excited, Tuck.

She would let him just take his quick shower. Heidi settled down on her feet. "Hurry up, then. I need to shower too." She pat his chest and stepped away to take off her shoes and climb onto the bed, sitting at the foot of it with her phone and flopping over. "Think of me~. Think of me fondly~." She sang teasingly, grinning up at Tuck before she opened up her phone's photo album and started sorting through her pictures. Heidi had sun screen and sand and stuff to shower off, so she'd wait patiently for Tuck to finish showering before she took her own.

Tuck very briefly deepened the kiss before breaking away - and stepping away, for that matter.

She made him so crazy.

"You're bad," he chuckled. Rubbing his hands over his hair, he couldn't help but grin before starting towards the shower. He closed the door partially and started it up, leaving the water cool and tepid for more than one reason. Not only did it feel good on his skin, but. Heidi, goddamn, okay?

The soap that the hotel provided wasn't too girly smelling, and the towels were soft, and Tuck allowed himself to enjoy his cool shower. Deus showers weren't bad, but they weren't this nice, either.

Ten minutes later he emerged, towel wrapped around his hips.

"Your turn. Lemme know if you need help reachin' any of them.. hard to reach places."

He grinned at her lecherously.

"In your words I'm, and I quote, ********' perfect," Heidi called out for Tuck to hear as he walked away after calling her bad. She busied herself with sorting out awful pictures while Tuck was busy showering, occasionally glancing toward the bathroom. It was tempting to go join him, more tempting than she ever expected it.

The shower stopped and Heidi put her phone down and sat up just as her boyfriend walked out of the bathroom.

...Her..might-as-well-be-naked boyfriend..

Oh wow.

It wasn't as if this was her first time seeing him like this. No. She was just blown away every time she was reminded how amazing her boyfriend's body was.

Heidi was blushing and ignoring it so hard. She cleared her throat and grinned right back at Tuck as she got off the bed and dug around in her bag for her own shampoo. "You'll be the first to know~." Heidi stopped to kiss arm. "See you in a few minutes." She disappeared into the bathroom before he could try and stop her, leaving the door partially open just as he had.

"Well, you are."

It was so hard not to follow her into the bathroom. How easy would it be to fling that damp towel aside and just..

Nope. Nope.

Tuck stood where he was after she'd kissed his arm and disappeared, forcefully ignoring his weapon's urges to just march in there and ...<********, clothes were safe. Tuck cleared his throat and dug around in his bag so that he could see if his pants and shirt were wrinkled - thankfully, they weren't, because he sure as ******** didn't want to have to iron them. He did show some kind of self-preservation when he put his boxers and pants and socks on. Tuck grunted and rifled through his bag, carefully removing the white box in the very bottom. It was slipped under the bed as discreetly as possible.

That finished, he took care of his other toiletries - deodorant, cologne - before kicking back on the bed as he waited for Heidi to finish her shower.

Heidi's shower was somewhat panicked. She was trying desperately not to think about Tuck out there. Dinner, think about dinner. Think about having a nice dinner together at a nice restaurant and wearing a pretty dress that made her feel all girly and pretty.

Her shower wasn't nearly long enough, but she didn't want to waste too much time. She wrapped her hair with one of the towels she found and was about to use another to cover herself until she found a robe hanging on the back of the door. Oh! That would do so much better! Heidi tossed that on instead before she wandered out of the shower with a content sigh, looking around until she spotted Tuck on the bed. She smiled. "Heeeey~." Heidi climbed onto the bed to settle beside Tuck. She was careful not hit him with her towel turban when she put her head on his shoulder.

His bare shoulder.

Heidi was not complaining. "That was nice. So what time is it now?" Their reservation wasn't until seven, they weren't terribly far from the restaurant, so maybe there was time for cuddling? After a whole day out in the city and at the beach Heidi was actually really looking forward to just having some quiet time with her boyfriend even if only for a little while.

Tuck had been doing his best to space out, staring at the ceiling from his position on the bed. His legs were crossed at the ankles, and both arms were tucked behind his head. He'd never once been on a more comfortable bed, and it was a good thing that Heidi made her way out when she did because he was absolutely almost half-dozing when she slipped onto the bed next to him.

Tuck let out a low rumble of appreciation when Heidi snuggled up close, and he wriggled just enough to press a kiss against her forehead before he glanced at the bedside clock.

"Almost six. What time should we leave? An' what I mean by that is how long's it gonna take for you to get ready?"

He grinned up at the ceiling, glancing at Heidi out of the corner of his ********, he loved her. Nothing had ever felt so right before. After feeling ******** shattered and broken for the longest time, he almost felt complete. Normal.

It was pretty amazing.

She made a happy noise when Tuck kissed her forehead, closing her eyes and snuggling close to him. Heidi took a moment to tug the towel from her hair, leaning away to shake her hair out with her hand before she settled down again. Better. "It won't take me long. We could leave at like..I'unno..twenty 'til?" She sounded distracted. Heidi was busy settling herself comfortably against Tuck's side without getting too intimate about it.

"I just want some quiet time~." Heidi murmured softly and then kiss Tuck's shoulder with a sigh of contentment. That was all she wanted right this second, quiet time with her man. The man she loved. One eye opened to peek up at him through her bangs. Should she tell him now? Was this the right time? When it was just the two of them and they were calm and happy and comfortable?

Heidi wrapped her arms around Tuck's middle. Just say it. I love you.

But what if he didn't..?

Matilda hissed. Why dost thou hesitate? Dost thou not feel love as she says?

NO! I do! I do..just...

Heidi didn't want to put pressure on him or force him. She should wait until he said it first, right? But what if he never said it...

But he loved her, right? He had to. He'd used love as a word to describe her earlier. What if he did love her? Would he ever tell her? She wanted him to love her, because she loved him, and..she just wanted to be with him. He was perfect.

She stayed quiet, thinking hard on how to go about this while idly drawing circles against Tuck's chest with her finger.

It was nice to just be able to sit without saying anything. That companionable silence was something that Tuck had had with his brothers back before everything turned to s**t. It had been something he hadn't had since then - part of Tuck had always felt as if he needed to present a sort of facade, a little bit of strength for those who needed to draw from it.

It was exhausting.

He didn't feel like he needed to do that with Heidi. He didn't feel as if he had to put on a front. If he was upset, he could tell her and they could talk about it. She'd never judged him, and she'd never done anything or said anything to make him feel like he wasn't enough. In fact, she'd always looked at him like he was something special.

Tuck didn't want to ever feel regret when it came to Heidi. Their relationship was something so sweet and simple, and he wanted to protect that. He wanted to nurture it, and he wanted to enjoy each moment he spent with her. Despite that, there was something that tasted like fear that lingered on his tongue, something that held him back, something that made him feel uncertain.

The inner turmoil felt ******** stupid and really goddamn ridiculous. He wasn't the dramatic sort, never had been.

Tuck just had to trust that he'd know when to say it. There would be a moment so perfect and it would just roll right offa his tongue.

"Mmm. This's nice." Tuck cleared his throat. "What kinna food do they serve at that joint?"

Heidi wasn't actually used to being able to sit with someone and not have to say anything, to just hold them and be held by them. She loved this, she loved just sitting with Tuck even if all they did was look at each other and not say a word. She loved not having to feel like every second needed to be filled with words. If she had any knowledge of Tuck's fears she would have done anything she possibly would to try and quell those fears and worries he had, absolutely anything at all. She didn't want Tuck to be scared, not of her. He'd already said she scared him once before, she didn't like that.

She was actually starting to doze off when Tuck cleared his throat and woke her up again. Heidi smiled. This was nice. "Local cuisine, mostly. They do have some Italian dishes, but for the most part it's all local." She'd figured if they were coming here and wanted to try food all around the world anyway they should eat the food of the area. Heidi opened her eyes and looked up at Tuck, her hand slid up to rub his shoulder. "Don't ask me the name because I don't know how to say it," Heidi told him with a giggle. She sat up a bit, putting a hand on Tuck's chest to support herself as she leaned in for a tender kiss.

it took me forever to find this and then when i found it i realized i could have just checked my notifications huehuehuehuehuehuehue

Italian sounded good, something really rustic - not spaghetti and meatballs or lasagna or anything else Americanized - something with fish and local herbs and spices, something really...

Sometimes Tuck wondered if Heidi knew how much he really wanted her. He wondered if she knew that it hurt deep in his stomach, that there was an ache in his teeth. He wondered if she knew that even having her pressed close to his side made him hyper-aware of everything about her. The texture of her hair. The contour of her lips. The green of her eyes.

Sometimes he wondered if she knew that he felt like he was losing his mind.

So. ******** it.

<Yes, good.>

Tuck cupped her jaw and prevented the undoubtedly tender kiss that Heidi had planned to press against his lips. He waited a split second, only until he was sure that he had her attention.

His eyes locked on hers. His mouth opened, and those three little words were right ******** there.

And then he pussied out.

"What time is it?"

In that split second, Heidi may have gone a little crazy. She seemed to forget how to breathe and her heart raced with eager anticipation. Nervous, excited. Was this it? Was he going to say it? Please oh please. Say it. Say it. Her eyes were wide and almost pleading.

He opened his mouth to speak..

Please..

...Oh.

Heidi seemed to deflate slightly. She relaxed in Tuck's hand, her own hand coming up to gently rub his wrist before she looked past Tuck at the clock. "Almost six thirty~." She answered softly. Heidi turned her head to free her jaw from Tuck's grasp, kissing his palm and nuzzling her face into his hand with a small smile. That was silly of her to get her own hopes up like that.

"Hmmm..I guess I should get dressed, huh?"
PostPosted: Mon Jul 29, 2013 10:32 am

<Idiot.>

Tuck deserved that, he knew it. He was acting like a twelve year old, and it was getting pretty ******** ridiculous. Every time he garnered the courage to say it, those little self-doubts came swirling up like bile.

It's too soon. We haven't been together that long.

We've never really talked about the future, what if she doesn't feel the same?

What if she thinks I'm saying it just because I want to have sex with her?

It was a vicious circle, and every time he surfaced from that particular emotional whirlpool he was dragged back under, suffocating on his own self-doubt. He'd never considered himself a p***y before, but he was starting to feel like one now. Tuck grit his teeth and cleared his throat before rolling off the bed. He lifted a broad hand to rub against the tattoo on his shoulder before he spread his arms wide.

"I ******** love you. I've wanted to say that for a long while now, an' I wanted to say it just now, but I'm a ******** wuss or some s**t, I don't know. I don't want you to think I'm sayin' it because I want something from you, an' I don't want to keep worryin' that if I say it you ain't gonna feel the same way."

Tuck started to pace. The dam was opened, and he was going to get everything off of his chest. Sorry, Heidi.

"I know that we ain't been together real long, but we ain't got the longest life expectancy in the world. An' it's okay if you don't feel the same, but y'know, maybe someday you might. I just wanted to tell you 'cause I ain't never felt this way about nobody else, an' I ain't gonna feel this way again."

His cheeks were ruddy from the blush that bloomed high on his cheeks. Tuck shut up long enough to brush his hand down his face, and then he was going again.

"An' you are so goddamn sexy, Heidi, an' it drives me crazy." His tone was slightly accusatory. "So you should know that too."

Tuck's voice turned gruff and he grabbed his shirt from the hanger in the closet he'd placed it on. He didn't make eye contact with her while he slipped it on over his broad frame, and it wasn't until he finished buttoning it up that he finally glanced over at her. Tuck cleared his throat and rested his hands on his hips as if to say well, the end, can we eat now?

Suddenly Tuck was getting out of bed and Heidi had to force her smile to stay on her face. She wanted to cuddle more, and she had been hoping so much for him to say something that was not 'what time is it?' It was okay. Maybe someday. It didn't change how she felt, she would just find the perfect time to tell him soon. Soon. She didn't want to scare him. That was something that scared me, right? Their girlfriend saying they loved them? Something like that.

Heidi turned to climb off the bed, sitting at the edge of it when Tuck spoke up.

All she could do was stare.

I ******** love you.

Did he really just..

Love you.

Her eyes followed Tuck as he paced, she was clinging to his every word.

I love you.

You are so goddamn sexy,

Heidi blushed at that, her eyes wide. She was giddy. Overjoyed. When he turned back to her he would find her sitting on the bed with the biggest, brightest, happiest smile on her face. "I love you, too," she breathed out, laughing softly. All that worry for no reason. "I-I was..I was scared m-maybe you..didn't...and it was okay! I was going to tell you I...I love you, Tuck." Oh my god I'm saying it and he's saying it and we're saying it and oh my god oh my god oh my god..!

She squealed quietly, the sound coming from low in her throat in an effort to hide it. Heidi tightly gripped the comforter, the only thing keeping her from throwing herself at Tuck and completely ruining all plans to go to dinner. "I love you." It felt so freakin' awesome to say that.
