Jimi Hendrix rules. On a technical level he's only okay, however, he was very influential and unique.

tolkien what d'you mean in saying "technical" Technical ability. His actual playing ability itself, you know? How well he can play the instrument.

Don't own anything yet,but I plan on getting some Jimi soon.
But from what I've heard,he's pretty damn good.

But from what I've heard,he's pretty damn good. Very unique, and influential, as I said. The key component to his music (aside from it's being innovative) was the emotion he played with, keep that in mind when you do pick up a CD.

He did wail, however, he simply can't play as well as other people, his actual playing ability isn't as good as most good guitarists today, he was average in skill level.
However, technical ability damn sure isn't everything, so he rules. smile
|

tolkien here, here. Who today is better? Name pretty much any good guitarist today, and they have more skill than him. As I said, on a skill level, he ws average. Keep in mind, I'm speaking ONLY of skill, not better in general. xp Although, if you want me to list some guitarists still around today, or ones from past his time, I can.

I don't even mention the technical level.. Just say he's the most soulful guitarist of all time, and most will agree with you. I don't own any Jimi CDs, but I can still hear him on the radio every once in a while. Plus, I've got a friend who is pretty much a hippy reborn, so I hear about him all the time.
Anyone know where I can hear his rendition of the National Anthem played at Woodstock?
