Like most nights, Captain Labyrinthite could be found perched on the edge of a roof scanning the streets of Destiny City with his bright gold eyes. It was a boring routine, but one the young man had settled into none the less. It gave him many advantages; a better view point than street level, the ability to descend upon the weak-minded from the air, and the ability to disappear from view in any which way he chose. If someone were to ask, the pink and black haired man would easily say roofs, and height, were his location of choice.
He rested on the balls of his feet, fingers curled and holding tightly to the lip on the edge for balance. He rocked himself slightly, a grin on his face as his eyes darted from corner to corner. If anyone saw him, they would think it was a madman leering down at them. Which was true, depending on the perspective of the person because he certainly didn't see himself a mad. He would prefer the term dedicated or zealous.
Suddenly he launched himself from his perch, landing on the alley's pavement in a crouch. He rose slowly, smoothing out his shirt and pants as he stood. He adjusted his hood so just a glimmer of pink shower, then tucked his hands (fingers interlaced) behind as he strode out of the alley and onto the lamp-lit street. He whistled loud and carelessly; he had grown bored and wanted to attract attention to himself.
The captain always enjoyed attention.

Waylon suspected he’d been in the right place at the right time when he’d spotted the figure traversing the rooftops. A quick glance up, a darkened shadow and a bright gleam of hot pink was all he needed to decide to investigate. It didn’t take too much effort to dislodge a regrettably shaky fire escape ladder from it’s place and find his way to the roof. The climb had taken longer than expected, allowing the stranger to get quite a bit farther ahead of him but to say they stood out was an understatement.
Blue? Check.
Pink? Check.
That sounded familiar or at least vaguely familiar. He’d remembered hearing about this particular Nega from Iris and it definitely wasn’t good things. Definitely not. Waylon transformed quickly into Parthenope, chasing after the figure as quickly as possible. Facing a Nega alone with no real reason beyond revenge was a bad idea but he was a fighter. How hard could it be?

Labyrinthite noticed the sudden surge in sugary sweet energy immediately, it was something he was keenly in tune with. He spent much time tracking and hunting so it had become second nature to him to pick up on energy signals like it was to breath. He grinned, a big toothy grin, at the appearance and continued with his stroll.
His pace had slowed to the point he was hardly moving. He was waiting, curious as to what would drive a level one senshi to seek out a level two nega. Eventually he stopped, arms stretching out above him. His head tilted back just slightly and he called out to his would be stalker.
"Aren't you aiming a bit high?" He asked, turning a cheek back. "Seems like a rookie mistake to chase someone who's a higher class than you."

(Desu has been having issues posting on Gaia... so here is her post smile Desukyun “You say that like chasing you was difficult. Didn’t seem to take much.” It was obvious that the dodging the question of whether or not going after a high ranking opponent was a good idea. Parthenope held out his arms, hand splayed open in front of him in a gesture of as close to peace as the two opposing forces could get. It wouldn’t do any good to attack before he could get something out of it anyway. He cleared his throat, trying his best to come off as nonchalant as possible. “I’m just here for a friend anyway. Someone you know if I’m not mistaken.”

Laby thought to snort at the senshi's response, but refrained from doing so. "Of course not," he retorted as though the idea of being difficult to catch was ridiculous. "I wanted you to catch up." Some times, the captain preferred a bit of cat-and-mouse type approach to things. "I presented an opportunity and it appears you took the bait," he continued, laughing darkly.
He listened keenly, intrigued by this basic level senshi and his supposed reasoning for seeking him out. "A friend? Well, didn't this friend warn you that I'm dangerous?" He asked, tone and demeanor changing. Darkening. He was no longer toying with the man, things were about to escalate quickly.
Parth was lucky that he'd been so...civil so far.
Without warning, he darted forward intent on slamming into the senshi.

“Wanted me to catch up? Couldn't you have just not run at all-“
Parthenope barely had time to register that thought when he was faced with the other barreling towards him. He barely managed to dodge, though the force of it knocked him off balance. The last thing he expected was for Laby to be so fast especially from a dead stop. When he finally found some sort of stability, he took a few lengthy steps back. Being out of striking range was more important than anything. Did this guy even need a striking range? He just caught me off guard. That’s all. Won't let that happen again.
"Did you want me to dodge there too? "

"I don't think I really ran at all," he replied as his body collided with Parth's. The senshi slipped away before he could properly follow up but the captain was grinning a toothy grin. He was a wild card more often than not, an advantaged he liked to play up.
"Nah, I wanted you to be spontaneous," he replied, rolling his shoulders back in a shrug. He tilted his head to the side so he could crack his neck, then spread his arms out before and interlaced his fingers so he could crack his knuckles.
Instead of rushing him again, Labyrinthite moved forward slowly. "Now, who is this friend of yours?" He was curious about this friend he had mentioned. His scythe materialized in his left hand as he continued forward and he cocked his head slightly before swinging it in small circular motions.
"Suppose it doesn't really matter," he mused bringing the gleaming blade toward his face to admire it, then his bright eyes flickered over to the darker skinned man. "We'll play anyway." With that his increased the length of his strides and swiped his weapon in a long horizontal stretch, spinning with the momentum and following it up with a nice spinning axe kick.

At this point, all the scenarios possible were going through the senshi’s head. Most of them ended up with said head rolling across the rooftop. The others ended with that blade in other less gruesome but equally vital parts of his body. He watched it swing. Watched the light shine off it as the other strolled rather leisurely towards him.
“I suppose it doesn’t…” Did it? It wasn’t like this was the guy that took Iris’ lunch money. She ended up with a broken arm and nothing to show for it. His opponent was obviously faster, probably stronger and had a weapon that he could do nothing against. Getting this guy to stick to the floor would probably be a useless endeavor. He was too close. Way too close. This was bad.
Parthenope cleared his throat, nervously chewing at his lip before speaking. “It doesn't matter but they’re on their way anyway. I wouldn’t come after you alone…” He doubted it would be enough. Just as much as he doubted that Iris or any of his teammates would show up behind him to miraculously save the day. All he needed was a moment of hesitation and he could be half way down the building by then.
Though even the best plans have their faults. No matter how far he could get away from regular person, a weapon with reach was something he never could have accounted for. He hissed under his teeth when the tip of the blade caught the edge of the vest and the unfortunate skin underneath. It was just enough for the kick to land, sending him backwards with much more force than he could have expected.

He laughed as he was told that back up was on way. "Let them come. The more the merrier," he sneered watching as the senshi stumbled back. His grin twisted into a mock frown and he shook his head at his opponent disappointedly. "It appears that your bark is worse than your bite."
Taunting was an aspect of dueling that he was particularly fond of.
He didn't wait this time, closing the gap that opened up between them and slamming his knee into the senshi's abdomen. He backed up afterwards, aiming to strike with is blade with a vertical slash. More damaging but more room for evasion.

Taunting was always fun when you were on the winning team. For everyone else, it was just kicking them when they were down. Quite literally in this case. If he could regain his footing maybe he could do something useful. Parthenope landed thankfully on his feet, finally finding enough purchase on the rooftop to hold his ground.
The knee to the stomach would have been a crippling blow had he not had enough time to center himself on the ground. Even through the pain, he used the momentum to kick out, striking hard enough to force the weapon to slice through nothing but air as he dashed to the side. Hopefully missing him with that weapon would throw him off enough to get some distance between them. Though doing so while trying not to double over was a task in itself.

A part of Labyrinthite had wished that the brown clad senshi could put up more of a fight than he was, but at the same time another part felt a surge of pride fill him. He was proud that he'd come so far that basic level senshi were a piece of cake. His ego would have grown bigger if he was pummeling a super senshi, and more so if it was an eternal.
But he'd only bested an eternal level once, then it had come back to bite him in the a**.
He wasn't going to make the mistake again, if he had the opportunity to take the life of a senshi he was going to do it. He was going to make sure they were dead no matter what, no more letting them go.
Mercy was for the weak-hearted.
Labyrinthite staggered back, thrown off balance by the kick and the weight of his scythe slicing through nothing. Irritated, a low growl rumbled from his throat as he released the weapon, banishing it to subspace and rushing at Parthenope. The time for games was over, if his reach would not aid him effectively then he would beat the senshi with his fists and kicks.
He wanted to believe there wasn't a thing called mercy left in him for the space invaders.
It helped that the man was bent over, still recovering from the hard kick to the abdomen, because it gave him an edge. There was no time to react, much like the first time he rushed forward and this time his fist caught the side of his face. It was followed by a blow to the chin and chest, another knee to the gut and roundhouse with enough force to put the man on the ground.
Labyrinthite kept Parthenope on the ground by slamming the heel of his foot down on his chest and placing a good chunk of his weight on that leg. His left hand extended to the side and the pink shaft of his weapon began to materialize in his hand once more. He looked down, sinister grin on his lips as he shook his head. "Death is at your door senshi," he cooed, adjusting his grip before he swung the blade down very much intent on beheading him.
He let out a harsh laugh, a cackle really as he made his move because victory was near and tasted so, so sweet.

She hadn't been patrolling. She had been Ellie Spectre, wandering around on her way home from one thing or another. Most normal civilians might have ignored the commotion at the rooftops, carrying on with their normal, everyday lives. However, it sounded like there was some sort of struggle. A pair of golden eyes flickered towards the commotion only to see two very familiar shades. One of brown with whisps of gold, the other laced with plenty of pink.
"....mother f*cker..."
It didn't take long for the tomboy to find herself a safe place to henshin up and take a leap up to the same rooftop levels. There was no hesitation in her movements as she called out "Iris Rainbow SLICER!"
With an experienced flick of her wrist, a brilliantly colored rainbow shot towards the pink handle of the scythe, latching on tightly. The light seemed to burn brightly, trying to lure the Captain's fingers to touch it to feel the burn.
With a firm yank back, she uttered out "....f*ckers, f*ckers, f*ckers..." at both of the men on the rooftop. She did not sound pleased.

The only thing his brain could register at the moment was a string of if-onlys. If only he’d been stronger. If only he hadn’t tried to be civil. If only he hadn't been a complete idiot and went out to find someone that was much more powerful than him while by himself. He might have been able to defend himself if he’d gotten the upper hand. Maybe. Possibly. But now all he could do was try and shield whatever area the other man aimed for until he hit the ground.
Parthenope struggled against the weight on his chest, trying to dislodge the weight atop of him but any type of pushing, prodding, punching or kicking was getting him anywhere closer to free. The pain in his head was making him dizzy, everything hurt and he each move to try and defend himself was draining his energy even faster.
This is really how it’s gonna end?”
By the time the scythe had been raised, his vision had gone blurry, barely being able to pick anything out from the darkness barring that bright pink color. He figured bright pink was going to be the last thing he would ever see until a blast of light lit up the area. Bright enough for him to see that it had wrapped itself around the weapon. The familiar voice that accompanied it was a Godsend at that point. “I-Iris?...”
Even though his head felt fuzzy, there was no way the other man could hold him down and keep the weapon steady. Sure enough, the pressure began the lift and he took that as his chance to knock the offending limb from his chest and roll as far as he could away, though that wasn’t very far, before the pain caught up to him.

Everything had been going so smoothly for him when he heard the voice. That voice. Her voice. His head immediately snapped up, scowl on his face, to see the blond. "Iris," he snarled while her rainbow wrapped around his scythe. He wanted nothing more than to rip it off, but didn't because he knew what it would do.
He knew how it would burn, melt and scar.
The scar on his ankle was a constant reminder. (Sometimes he swore it still burned.)
He was distracted by the eternal senshi, more-so when she yanked the rainbow back, and it was enough for Parthenope to slip away even if it wasn't far. He cursed under his breath as he slid forward with his weapon before giving and letting the rainbow senshi have it. "Can't mind your own business can you Iris."
She was a constant thorn his his side.
His eyes flickered over to where the basic level senshi was laying on the ground. He had unfinished business. He was still going to end the man's life. Iris wouldn't get in his way. So he turned advancing on the fallen senshi and lunged at him, hand extended towards his neck to hold him down and the other reaching for the cavity of the starseed. If he couldn't have his head, he'd at least get his soul.

Despite the fact that Parthenope had managed to get himself freed for the time being, Iris' gaze did not soften in the slightest. He was on the sh*tlist at that moment, even if he had managed to secure a vague amount of safety from the situation. However, the weapon Labyrinthite had been clutching onto was released, and the give sent the object hurtling towards the eternal senshi. Her hand whipped open and she ducked to avoid being sliced up unnecessarily. The bright colored lights vanished instantly. "...this is my business..." she growled out before her fuku started to glow of a hot white light. It wasn't the first time the Negaverse captain had seen her shift from the form of a humble eternal senshi to that of a proud princess. It might have even seemed odd that she was taking this course of action now. The energy she unleashed was overwhelming to say the least. Usually in this form, her lips might have curled into a smile, growing slightly more gentle in this royal form. Tonight, it seemed as if the girl from this present lifetime was in full control. Her heated sights were set upon the pink-clad Negaverse agent. Her goal? ...The easiest way to defeat the enemy is to make the enemy no longer your enemy...Quickly, she thrust her hands forward, a crystal seeming to float up from the palms. For a brief moment, it seemed simple in form, but it pulsed in varying colors, blending through the colors of the rainbow. The final pulse of light was a nearly blinding white color, and the crystal seemed to splinter into a much more powerful form. With a loud shout, the princess beckoned the crystal for the power she needed. " IRIS CRYSTAL POWER!!!!" Soon enough, the area was flooded in a blinding light.
