Name: Emerald (For her eyes), Emmy for short. But her real name is Xiaolian which means “Black Jade”.
Age: 83 years, but appears to be in her early 20s.

Occupation: While she is an Alchemist full time, she is usually helping those who are sick or are considered undesirable. Her works consist of: mostly research; considering she works with plants and the like, some outcomes are unseen. She does own a shop where she sells potions and elixirs, made from a small garden outside of the city.
Physical Appearance: Xiaolian has deep emerald eyes, which most consider odd considering her Asian background. Has Shiny black hair and tan skin from working outside. She is completely healthy, much so that she is often thought to be much younger than she is.
Her normal attire consists of traditional Chinese clothing, from the earlier eras to more modern pieces. She favors the flowing robes of the Daxiushan to the form fitting Qipao; while she does not mind the Qipao at all, she prefers being able to move and breath. It is however rumored; Xiaolian wears a gel-layered suit underneath her normal garb.
Personality: Quiet and collected, she often keeps a clear façade in front of most while holding a smile as a mask. Humble in her work, but proud of what she does. A very altruistic person, always trying to find ways to help others.
Flaws: While many see her as a saint, she is often used for her abilities. Gullible and far too trusting. Sometimes even with her own life. Along with all this, she is very unstable with her emotions; while she is able to hide what she is feeling, there is a raging storm inside her at all times. Xiaolian has a bad habit of taking anything she makes, even when the effects are unknown. Most of the time the effects are adverse.
Back Story: The nameless girl was born in the city as an orphan, not due to her parents being murdered or dying in an accident. Her mother had left her on the door steps of a house that belonged to a Chinese herbalist, who had then taken care of the little dark headed girl, teaching her all there was to know about Chinese medicine. They called her Xiaolian, after her hair.
Later in life she continued on in school, leaning towards alchemy due to the fact that it ran along with what she already knew in the past. But tragedy befell her when the man whom she considered her father, fell sick from old age, and died. His kin considered her a tumor, blaming her appearance in his life as something bad. During her father’s funeral, she was attacked by these people. First beatened, then tortured and finally left to die in a dark alley, where she was found.
It would be a week before she came to, no memories of who she was before nor of the man who had taken care and loved her.
The doctors who had watched over her had found something odd with the young woman, while she appeared to be the age she was. A tissue sample of hers had showed an odd reliance, it aged far slower than it should have. For months the team had done tests on the girl, since no one knew who she was. They couldn’t figure out why she was the way she was, so they set her off on her way.
Xiaolian now traumatized of other people, hid away from the world. So afraid she even told people her name was “Emerald”. Stating that her late parents did this because of her odd eyes. At this point, she couldn’t continue to live the way she did without money. So she worked till she could pay for schooling, specifically for alchemy. Knowing she wouldn’t have to work with people.
Many years passed, learning the basics and then learning more through her own research. The woman was now in her early 40’s when she became more comfortable with other people, trusting a little more and more. But her fear of people still rang true, even through working with her patients.
Another 40 years would come and go, still compiling information. Now she had fully wondered why she didn't age as most people did, making it her main goal to know it.
By now she owns her own little shop, selling herbs and special blends of spices and medicines. As well as Elixirs and potions. Xiaolian does not work there herself, but has others watch it in her stead, so she can continue on her research and work in her personal garden just outside the city.
Talents and Skills: Xiaolian is very active, many don't know this because of her attire. In fact, a lot of studies are of the human body as well as alchemical medicine. She is considered the epitome of being healthy and fit, physically. Strong and fast for her weight, height and age. All because she does work out and take care of her body; she does believe her age will catch up to her body.
The woman is on a regiment of weight lifting, lots of running and Tai Chi.
Not only is her body a weapon, she is very anylytical. Her eyes are sharp and her ears are that of a hunting wolf.; computing situations are a breeze. Xiaolian also has an extensive knowledge of plants, medicinal herbs and the occult. The last she keeps a secret.
Research: Her research would be considered Alkahestry to the masses. Using alchemy as a whole to heal, even through knowing how to harm with it as well. But her main goal is still to figure out why her body is the way it is.
Hobbies: If she isn't in the slums, tending to those in need and without money or in her garden outside the city. She would most likely be working out or resting with music or a book. It all varies greatly, depending on her mood and inspiration for the day.
Likes: Choral music, plants, her books, sweets, sun and moonlight. She also likes sleeping considerably.
Dislikes: Spiders, ungrateful people and people who can help, but stand idly by.
