Enki yawned as he lounged on the branch he had chosen to rest on. It had been some time since his angel father had suggested he go on a 'little adventure'. Go see the island he said, go learn about where you live. Yaya, Enki saw right threw his pop's plan. He was just tired of being teased. That was all. Big deal.
But Enki had agreed to go explore. His second father had taught him and his sister all about the plants near his home after all. What was good to eat and such so it wasn't THAT hard to survive. Sure there were a few days where it was tougher to find stuff than other days but he never did go hungry. All this 'adventure' had really done was give Enki time alone to think.
It was plain as day to see that he and his sister were different...But he just felt so..Conflicted all the time. He hadn't really noticed this feel before, not until he left. Maybe he was just blissfully ignorant of it, maybe it just sorta...Apeared out of no where. He couldn't tell. Did his sister feel the same? He wouldn't know until he got home after all, and who knew when that would be?

A grey and white tail was high in the air as Zecora was bent over looking through a bush. "No, this will not do," the zebra faun spoke to herself in a thick accent as she tossed a rotten fruit over her shoulder. She shook her head in disappointment before continuing her search, rummaging through the plant for a fruit in better shape Zecora was on one of her usual pilgrimages into the forest looking for different plants and herbs to use in her remedies. She was still learning and getting used to the different variety of plants that were native to this isle, but at the moment, she was merely looking for something to satisfy the growl in her stomach. The female tossed one more fruit over her shoulder before discovering a good looking fruit and taking a bite out of it as she stood back up to her full height. "Ah, at last," she sounded satisfied. As soon as she finished this fruit she would go back to looking for herbs, fill her basket, and head back to the tree.

Enki's ears flicked as he heard a voice. Someone else was here? He sat up and started looking around for the source of the voice. It didn't take him that long to spot the white and grey being in the sea of green. Was that a faun? No. It looked different. He needed a better look.
Flapping his large leaf wings he took to flight soaring over to a tree near the stranger. He found a sturdy branch and sat upon it, canting his head as he looked the stranger over from the sky. A female, but not a true faun. Her ears and tail were different. What was she? Was she friendly? Did she hear him flying? He knew none of the answers.

Zecora's ears flicked at the slight sound that the leaf wings made as they cut through the wind and then stop. Her eyes shifted suspiciously, as if waiting for something to happen, but nothing did. "Didn't your motha' ever teach you it's not polite to stare?" Zecora asked of the stranger, but she did not know if it was creature or pae. Her voice did not sound angry or upset though, more playful. Zecora took another bite of the piece of fruit as her head turned to look around her.

Well his jig was up. But she didn't even turn around. Did she have eyes in the back of her head? He never did believe that saying before but...
Though she didn't seem angry. "Don't have a mother. Gotta blame one of my two dad's." He replied with his own playful tone. He settled on the branch and sat down, letting his legs dangle in the air. He was curious if she'd be able to follow the sound of his voice. Perhaps a fun little game?

Zecora was intrigued and surprised when a voice responded to her question, she had not been sure what to expect if she was honest with herself. "Interesting. I suppose that explains why she didn't teach you anything den." Zecora responded with a hearty laugh. She turned, looking around her. As she did, her ears, adapted for listening for forest predators, flicked listening for any sound that might clue her in about who she was talking to. "Are you going to hide all day? I must admit, it feels like I am talking to myself. Though... this is not unusual."

Not unusual? Did she..."Do you talk to yourself often?" He admitted to himself that sounded sad even saying it. He had his family to talk to after all. Enki frowned at the thought. Did she even have friends? Then again he couldn't talk himself. He didn't know anyone outside his family himself.
Well she was right, time to stop hiding. He slipped off of the branch, falling slightly before flapping his wings. He hovered in the air for a moment before fluttering down, reaching out and tugging on Zecora's ear in a playful manner. "Hey beautiful." He let out his own laugh before landing in front of the strange female.

Zecora smiled and laughed. "Sometimes, I think out out loud," the zebra explained to the stranger. Her ear flicked again as it was tugged on and she looked at the stranger. "Ah, so you are real after all!" she teased. "It is said, beauty is in de eye of de beholder." She mentioned in response to his greeting. Zecora had a sly smile, she appreciated the complement. "You can call me Zecora, if you prefer, what may I call you, Stranger?" she asked the male with a tilt of her head. She studied him carefully as he landed in front of her. He almost had stripes like her. It had been a long time since she had been among her own kind, yet he was not her kind.

"What are the meaning of words if no one is around to here them?" He smiled to her and fluttered his wings slightly. "And a stranger is simply a friend you haven't met yet." He laughed at his own words. "My name is Enki, it's nice meet you lady Zecora." His own eyes studied her. She was a faun yet so different. Her ears, her tail, her lack of antlers was so different from what he knew about fauns from his father...Then again he wasn't a faun himself. He didn't know what he was to be honest.

Zecora's grin and eyes lit up, this male was wise with words as well. "Enki, it is good to meet you as well. Your words are wise and true." Zecora caught a small glimpse of the wings as he fluttered them. The deep green and leafy texture... Zecora stretched her neck to get a better look at the wings of her new, tall friend. "Are you plant or pae, my friend? This is very curious indeed." Zecora mused as her head bobbed up and down and from side to side to get a better look.

Her question sorta threw Enki off his stride. He shifted slightly before reaching back over himself and pulling down the tip of his wing to his face before letting it go, his eyes looking back to her. "Honestly? I couldn't tell you. All I do know is that I am well...A mix." He looked away, embarrassed to admit it to her. He had been raised to see himself as normal as anyone else on the island, but the facts were facts. "One of my father's is a faun", he tugged one of his faun like ears out from his mess of hair to show her. "But my second father is an angel." He touched the feathers on his head. "So I don't know why my wings are leaves and not feathers..." He shifted again. "I think me and my sister are the only ones like this so I'm not too sure if we're just odd or special." He'd never even thought about this stuff before. He was just normal in his family when he was anything but normal.
"Well, I hate to say it but I've never seen a faun like you before. I don't mean to be rude or anything..." He canted his head to her.

"I be the last one to judge you." Zecora tried to recover from her err when she realized her statement had caused him discomfort. "I was once an outsider too, I know what it is like to be diff-a-rent." She continued, "Where I come from most recently, it is odd to have stripes. You are no stranger to stripes, I see. Our differences are what make us special, and I can tell that you are truly special Enki." Zecora hoped her monologue would help the male feel better, he was truly unique and beautiful.
"I am a distant relative of a faun such as your father... but does your faun father have a cutie mark? I have not seen a cutie mark except on other fauny like me before..." Zecora said as she noted the cutie mark on his flank. She was still curious about the wings... but she would have to find out more about them later.

Odd to have stripes? That sure was different. "My dad has more stripes that me. You'd like him if you like stripes" It was sad to hear someone like her was ever an outsider. Seemed they had more in common than he'd ever thought. "If the word was all normal...Well that would be pretty boring. You need those who are different to make fun to just be in." He smiled to her, appreciating the words she spoke to him.
So she was related to the faun after all. "A...Cutie mark? I'm sorry, I've never heard of such a thing before." Just as he thought he knew a little bit about her she said something that made him feel like they were from two different planets. Confusing.

Zecora slowly nodded her head, happy that he understood what she had been getting at. The female put a hand to her forehead and and her lips parted slightly. "Of course, my apologies." She should have known that even if someone out here had a cutie mark, they might not call it the same thing. "The mark there." Zecora pointed at his upper leg and then pointed to the spiral sun on hers.
"The fauny all have marks on their flanks. We call dem cutie marks. You get your mark when you find what makes you special." Zecora finished up her piece of fruit before setting it on the ground in hopes that a new plant would someday grow in its place.

Enki blinked as he looked at the mark on hip. Huh. He never thought of it as anything special. Just something passed down from pops. "Well I mean it didn't really show up until I was an adult...But I'm not too sure it's a cutie mark. My sister has the same on her hip, the other side...I always figured they were from pops. He has a full heart on his cheek...Well not a full heart...A full broken heart?" Now he was just getting confused. "But I'm not sure if it's a cutie mark or not. As far as I know, I don't have any fauny blood in me." He laughed lightly as he watched her set the fruit on the ground, canting his head in confusing.
