My husband decided He wanted to get a dog again.
So we went to a local animal rescue here in GA called Paws and we found a malamute who had just been dumped two days before. 2.5 years old a beautiful rust color and his right eye blue and left eye brown. No "health" issues where listed from the first owners. So to us it looked good and we adopted him.
Well turns out he has a health issue a major one that has been taking up a large amount of my time. In his left eye his optic nerve is degenerating(this issue is only known to happen to older dogs) As of yesterday he has been officially labbled as blind in that eye. Yaaaaaayyy.
The cats have decided that the dog is their baby as well and have trained to the dog to not eat his food until they have "sampled" it sweatdrop He also can't go outside unless one of them is with him and they "walk" him up the stairs at night.
It's hard to help him socialize with other dogs due to the blindness and not being able to bring his social buddy carl along gonk So the vet has given us a nice little card we can flash at the dog park on base if people b***h at us about him being "aggressive" when a dog charges on his left side.
This dog has been a hell of a job but I'm glad he is with us and not someone who would just dump him back off the pound again once they found out about his eye.
Here is the pup We renamed him from Lobo to Fenrir(the wolf who would consume the sun[or wordl depending on translation])
