breeding rulescost is 30k for unedited wolves, split between the parents however you want - so long as it comes in one trade. Only 20k if there are 2 new and completed RPs between the parents! At least one of the RPs must detail some kind of intent to have puppies (don't make it R-rated, lol). By "new" I mean since the last time you applied for a breeding.
if your wolf is in a pack, you might want to review your pack's rules about having pups.
some edits can be carried down. If your wolf has edits that are feasible to pass down (curly tails are genetic, while short tails are "injuries;" it is possible to consider a parent's item as an "heirloom;" etc.) and you want them on the pups, the cost might go up. If your breeding gets accepted, then we'll discuss it like gentlemen. *twirls my handlebar moustache* All edits currently seen in the shop are listed down below as genetic or non-genetic. Genetic edits will not cost extra (most of the time); item edits may. Depending on the complexity of the edits and how many pups they'd pass on to, we're talking 50k+ per breeding.
you may breed two of your own wolves together. The cost is still the same.
no inbreeding. No direct relatives, ancestors, or offspring. Aunts/uncles with nephews/nieces is borderline creepy. Cousins is okay.
wolves may only breed as adults.
wolves can breed as many times as they want. However, after a mother's third litter, the chances that pups will be stillborn rises with each consecutive litter. Consider this a side effect of aging. Male wolves suffer no reproductive ill effects with age.
mothers with previous pups can only breed again after their last litter is fully-grown.
pups will always take after their parents. Pups can also take after aunts, uncles, grandparents (and any other relatives) if you wish. Just mention which ones you want in the Throwbacks part of the form.
it is possible to "custom" a pup into a soon-to-be litter; keep on reading to find out how.
while same sex couples are allowed, same sex breedings are not physically possible. You can find a surrogate wolf of the opposite gender (two females would need to find a male, two males would need to find a female). The pups would appear about 50% like the actual parent (father or mother), 25% like the surrogate, and 25% like the other parent. You can also, through RP, pray to Pinga (goddess of fertility) and beseech her kindness. Then say your wolves go on a quest up a mountain or into a forest or wherever and *gasp* what is that, they find a random litter of abandoned puppies! All their own! How fortunate! Random litters will probably not look like either parent. It's random! The cost is still the same.
the number of pups varies between 1 and 6, and is determined by the relationship status of the parents, the rank of the parents, the current conditions, the roll of the die, etc. Realize that it is possible for two owners to get only one pup, although this would be rare (and would mostly be caused by breeding together two Omegas/Lones who were not in an Official Pack). If this happens, half of the cost of the Breeding is refunded.
once your breeding has been accepted it will not be started until both owners have stated their consent in the breeding consent thread. If your wolves are Official Lifemates, you don't need to post.
breeding slots are usually determined raffle-style. There might be occasional CC or even Low-Luck.
when paying for a breeding (or a custom pup), be sure to include the names of the parents in the trade title.
each owner can only win one entry per breeding raffle. You are welcome to enter as many wolves with as many people as you want.

about puppiesWhen pups are first born, they are both blind and deaf, and weigh just over a pound (<1 kg). Their ears open first, after about a week, and within two weeks their eyes are open as well. They learn to walk around the same time, but are usually not allowed to leave the den until they are four weeks old. Although they start eating meat as early as six weeks old (regurgitated from the hunters), they still nurse until they are about 2-3 months old.
All of the wolves in a pack help to raise the pups, even if they are not related. When the pups are very young, and the mother cannot leave them to join the hunt, the other pack members will bring her food. As the pups get older, the pack members will take turns bringing back food to regurgitate to the pups. It sounds gross, puking up food, but the pups find it super delicious. When the pups are about two months old, the pack will move on from the den to different sites where the pack can gather to spend time and sleep together when they are not hunting or patrolling. By the time the pups are six months old (shop art adolescents), they are almost fully grown and the pack can adopt its more typical roaming lifestyle.
Puppies will automatically grow into Gammas.now that you have puppies…each owner can only keep one per breeding. If two different people own the parents, they each get one. If you own both of the parents, you still only get one.
have a free competition or event. RP? Flaffle? Newbies only?
you must find homes for your puppies within 2 weeks of them being "born" as infants. If you have not found a home for any of the pups within that time period, the shop will give them away for you. If you are holding a complicated event (such as a roleplay), you must have at least started the event within the 2 week time frame. You will then have 1 month from the "date of birth" to find the pups homes, otherwise the shop will do it for you.
special, fancy, edited, etc. pups may be auctioned/raffled for monies with MiKEY's consent. This is only available for super fancy puppies with edits or special inherited traits that people would, you know, really want to pay for. If you're interested in this option, PM the mule. 10% of the profit will be paid back to the shop as a tax or something like that. I don't want this to be an incredibly common occurrence though. Kinda something special?
do not beg owners for pups! You will be immediately greylisted for a month if you do so.

how to get a custom pupcustoming a pup allows you two keep two! how exciting! It also allows other people to get an automatic pup in your litter, with your consent. Parents' owners always get first dibs.
custom pups must be commissioned after the breeding has been accepted and confirmed, and before the breeding is complete (before the uncert infants are posted). Once it's been announced that your Breeding has been accepted, you have a week to PM the colorist/breeder with whether or not you want the Custom Pup, who you're giving it to, whatever. Once the uncert infants are posted, though, the offer is off the table.
custom pups cost 50k minimum (same price as a regular growing custom), more if you want edits from mommy and/or daddy.
if you are not the owner of either parent, you must have the consent of the owner(s) of the parents. Have either (not necessarily both) PM the mule, or post in the Breeding Consent Thread.
you can still commission a pup even if the litter size is already maxed out.
only one extra pup custom per breeding, period.
idk if this needs to be said, but customing a pup is totally optional. You don't have to custom an extra pup if you don't want to, and (if you're the owner of a parent) you don't have to let someone else get one if you don't want extra pups or whatever.
no begging parents' owners for custom pups! You will get grey-listed so fast.
it is a pup from a breeding, so the choice of colors and patterns is ultimately up to the colorist. You are welcome to make suggestions, but the colorist does need to make sure the pup matches the parents and siblings. You totally get to pick the gender, though!
custom pup posts go in the colorist's breeding thread, not here or anywhere else.
owners of the parents are not allowed to accept any sort of payment in return for letting someone else custom a pup into their litter. If you are caught doing this, your breeding will be cancelled, and your payment refunded. If pups were already finished, the pups of anyone involved will be presumed deceased (anyone who obtained their pups ethically will not be affected).
