The Negaverse Lieutenant was having far too much fun. He had come up with a great way to gather energy, without having to worry about being caught too quickly. He was like the sandman, sneaking into open buildings and rooms, and just draining people that were already asleep. It gave him great practice for being silent and stealthy, which he would need, and it helped him keep focused and on his guard.
He was just climbing out of a window when he felt his foot get caught on the railing from the inside of the house. Damn it!
He knew that the higher ups in the negaverse had it easier. They could just teleport where ever they wanted and they did not have to worry about stuff like this. When he had that ability he was certainly going to take advantage of it. At the moment, though, he was stuck in the window, half outside.
He grunted, tugging a bit but the wood he was caught on started to groan.
He would wake up the other people in the house. Yes, he had drained one of them, but he hadn't stuck around to go to the other rooms and get more. He did not like to push his luck when he was hunting, sticking around for as little time as he could swing while still getting a good, full orb of energy.
Well, this was embarrassing. He was going to have to awkwardly climb back in and get his foot unstuck, and hopefully all before anyone woke up or anyone found him.

Columba had been hunting down a negaverse energy signature all night, but it kept getting away from her. She had questions to ask, and a vendetta on her mind.
Unfortunately she wasn't so great at navigating, or sensing, or locating people, and every time she thought she found one, she lost it. Until fate brought her a little present.
"You stuck?" She snidely asked, creeping up to the window.

"No," he whispered urgently, looking at the little senshi and realizing she was younger than most of the ones he saw out and about. Maybe he was just on the older end of things, but still. This really was a kid.
No one wonder people got all up in arms about who was powered these days. He heard them being referred to as kids before, and yeah some of the teens were on the younger side, but this girl was the youngest he had seen. He was not familiar with the idea of Chibi senshi, and didn't know that they came even younger than she was.
Not that it mattered to him: he wasn't in this business to feel bad about anything he had to do. He was just in it to get to the top.
"Alright, maybe a little, but keep your trap shut or they'll all wake up and we'll both be in trouble," he hissed, tugging at his leg to try and free it without breaking anything.

"Oh?!" Columba whispered in a hoarse tone that was not really a whisper. Or, it might not have been given how loud it was. She puffed up a bit and reached up to take advantage of the poor negaverser's situation by poking him in the face as he struggled.
"I don't see how I would, considering you're the one sneaking into houses that aren't yours. What were you doing anyway?" There was a small pause where she did her best not to sound intimidated at the prospect. "Stealing starseeds?"
She scrunched up her face and crossed her arms. Tiny chibi sailor was judging so hard.

"Hey!"
Merlinite was not a fan of being poked in the face, and he glared at the little senshi bitterly. He was just going to have to screw being quiet and haul himself out of there, if she continued to annoy him as she was. He did not know why she was so interested in him, since she wasn't trying to punch his face in for his efforts, but he definitely wasn't going to sit there and be interrogated.
That was his job, damn it.
"So what if I was," he asked gruffly, finally pulling his leg free and pushing himself out the window, tumbling but making it look like he had meant to do a very smooth forward roll, instead of just falling out of the building haphazardly.
He got to his feet, grinning down at her now.
"You going to stop me?"

Columba's face twisted at the thought of the house he had just freed himself from being full of starseedless corpses. She was ashamed to realize it did visibly bother her.
"What?" She postured, trying her best to sound brave about the whole thing. "You don't think I can? I've done worse to more impressive negas." And that was only mostly a lie.
"Why do you do that? Did someone make you mad?"

"I don't have to be mad at anyone to do stuff like this, kid. This is my job, and I'm more than happy to do it."
Of course, no one in the house was dead, and he would not have been trying to be so quiet about freeing himself if they had been. But he was hoping she did not put that together because his bluff was making him look pretty cool, all told, and really, what else could he ask for? If she thought of him as a danger, she would tell others about him, and he'd get a bit of a reputation to build on as he rose up the ranks.
That would work in his favor, surely.
"I will let you live if you don't tell anyone I was here," he said, knowing that generally when someone said that, the promise was immediately broken. It made it seem that much more serious. "And I won't pull your starseed, either." He grinned.

"What?!" She squawked out her shock. In all the explanations about how the negaverse was totes evil and must be stopped, no where did anyone mention this was a career option. "It's a job? Who pays you?!" And then slightly less worked up, and genuinely curious: "How much do you get paid?"
His offer to let him live made her mouth twist and she pulled one foot half a step back, but after looking him up and down, she crossed her arms and frowned. "You could not take my starseed if you tried," She harumphed. "You're are too old and fat."

Merlinite actually had to stop to think about that one. What sort of payment plan was this on anyway? He got paid in power, that was what he was questing for. He got paid in power and position, and that was what he was always craving anyway. Rank. Recognition.
This was the perfect job, even if he wasn't actually making any money with it.
And hell, if he was breaking into houses anyway...
"I don't get paid the way you think. The biggest check I can cash come from big mouth senshi's thinking they can beat me. And - did you just call me fat? There's not an ounce of fat on me! You little s**t! Who do you think you are, bad mouthing someone bigger than you? I'll show you!" He leaped at her after that, aiming to grab her and try to pull her starseed, though he was still a little off balance from the window, and he was distracted by petty irritation.

Columba was pursing her lips and looking very unimpressed when he suddenly leaped after her. She jumped back and was suddenly very thankful her fuku came with running shoes instead of something like cumbersome boots or high heels like other senshi she'd seen, because they were the only way she managed to swing back and not fall on her a**.
"So you are mad at somebody. What died senshi ever do to you?!" She asked, changing her backwards bounce to run around him and pause to make a mocking face.
"You really are very old," Well half of her acquaintances were chibi senshi or teenagers. Even the two negas she had fought didn't seem that far out of their early twenties or high school age. Merlinite was a weird outlier. "You gotta be ancient. Like, thirty, or something."

Merlinite huffed and shook his head as she ran away from him, stumbling and hitting his knees, which only added to his frustration. Okay, he needed to get out of here. Clearly he was having a bad time, all around, and it was not going to get better if he stayed there: he needed to get away from this bad luck kid an stop embarrassing himself.
He was trying to BUILD a reputation, not destroy it!
"I am not old, and you are... are stupid. So. I don't give a s**t what a kid like you thinks because you'll probably die before you reach an age where your opinions start to matter, anyway. Enjoy that, little baby, while you can." He growled and was being petulant, so at least he wasn't acting like an old man.
He was acting like a big baby, who wasn't getting his way. He pushed himself to his feet and looked around, hoping no one had seen any of that, and shook his head.
"I gotta blow this place before anyone sees me. Thanks for ruining a perfectly good hunt: I'm not going to forget you, and if you do live long enough to see me again, I'll be glad to be the one to put an end to it." He picked a path to take that might free him of her circling, moving toward it and bouncing to try and get some higher ground and clear his escape.
