Ok so I'll start off the discussion a bit.


This is one issue with Budge's translations. What exactly is sin in a Kemetic sense? Maybe because I associate sin as an Abrahamic term. Where in Kemetic terms, to me, you're living in ma'at or you're feeding isfet.


Even this one is a bit vague to me. What constitutes doing wrong? What if something is "right" for me but "wrong" for someone else? And vice versa?


Out of the ones I found and posted for this, this one at least has a bit of direction. Don't do isfet so you don't feed the evil snake so we don't lose the sun! Done! (I should not do this at 2 in the morning lol) This kinda goes back to my comment where it seems to me that a person either lives in ma'at or in isfet. While isfet being defined by some Kemetics as evil is still kind of vague, others translate it more as uncreation.

That's something I kinda noticed as trying to do the purifications separately than all together. Its like the first one feeds off of all the rest of them. Which didn't exactly click as a problem until after I started this.

But on to #2!


This one kinda needs the 3rd one to go along with it in this translation. Because my first thought would have been "So then is it ok to steal if it wasn't violent?" Which the 3rd one says no. cat_sweatdrop


I'd say this is a little bit better only because its stealing overall as in violent and non-violent theft. But I think that comes from Tamara translating the papyrus differently. As we'll definitely see in the next one. But I found it a bit interesting in the devotion that Tamara talks about this purification. She brought up stealing not just material things.


Yay! Something to actually show that the Papyrus of Ani and the Papyrus of Nun had different declarations! This one I know that its good but I still have a hard time with. Coming from a dysfunctional family its kinda hard. I mean yeah families have their ups and downs but when you can't even bring up your own dad around your mom because she'll go off on a tirade of how much of an a*****e he is and you get kind of shunned for actually being willing to talk to him I'd say its just a bit dysfunctional. I can't be completely me around her or even my sister (yay being brainwashed into being Mom's favorite cat_rolleyes )

Yoi that turned into a bit of a rant. But its where I come from with this. Family is good. But I don't think that you should just follow the crowd just so you don't go against them.

Yay continuation from #2! Um... Not much to really say after that.


Now Siuda says that this Purification invokes Djehuty. But it still puzzles me why.


This one I could see invoking Djehuty if there had been deities tied to these.
But this one kinda goes with Siuda's version of Purification one. Its a different way of saying don't do isfet. Acting fraudulently in the Seat of Truth is against Ma'at in the way that She is truth. Acting fraudulently is twisting reality.

Straight forward. Don't kill people. But its kinda interesting that Siuda says that the "I do not murder" gets stressed by saying it twice.


This one's interesting to think about. To me it pretty much says associate with those who are important and if they prove they're not don't associate with them.
