As usual, it was silent. The only noise around him were his wings in motion.
The silence was all Tsaphiel had known. How long had it been since his last interaction? A part of him gave up on keeping track. He rarely saw his family, but he would watch them some nights to make sure they were all safe. Every now and then he liked to spy on a family member while they were sound asleep in their dreams.
Tsaphiel wasn't sure if he had ever had a real dream. Every time he slept he had terrible memories appear, so resting wasn't an often thing. He would get as little hours in as needed and wake up from in a sweat of fear. He felt weak in admitting they were nightmares or night terrors, but he knew it was the truth. His memories would not escape him, it seemed.
As he soared through an empty sky of stars, he noticed a small ridge below that looked rather peaceful and nice. Perhaps he would stand watch for awhile and also rest from flying for so long. Every night was the same. But he knew this is what he was destined to be, so what else could he ask for in life?

Why was she still awake? Roy couldn't help but heave a breathy sigh and she carefully folded her wings back.
She missed her family, she missed her best friend, but it wasn’t proper for her to continually stay at home. Distance makes the heart grow fonder, right? Heavy thoughts weighed her mind down lately, and Roy didn’t particularly care for it. Bane, her best friend, had been telling her she lived too much in an imagination land.
Bah. Such unhappy thoughts were truly unnecessary.
Turning her eye baby blue’s up to the night sky, the rustling of feathers reached her ears. She hugged back against the tree, not sure what decorum would tell her to do. She didn’t want to seem like a mare of loose morals for night-walking…

At first he thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. There was a bright figure below and he was instantly alert. All of the baggage in his mind disappeared and in usual Tsaphiel fashion, he changed his plans and flight and proceeded to swoop down onto to the land. He dove and swerved until he landed safely with a light thump.
He didn't land too close to the figure, but as he walked in a quick pace towards the light he noticed it was a mare, and one like him of all things.
"Excuse me, is everything ok?" He knew it was a bit hard to see anything about him, so he came close enough so his figure was at least in plain sight.
"I mean you no harm." He finally admitted, knowing approaching a stranger and late at night usually was frightening. "I was scouting and was surprised to see someone down here. Are you in danger of any sort? Hurt at all?" His militant voice turned a bit calmer, as he hated being all business all of the time.

Roy pawed at the ground a bit and her mind raced back and forth on what was the proper way to go about this. He had just said that he meant no harm, so she was safe… but obviously it wasn’t proper for her to be out at night. If creatures that go bump in the night and harlots were the ones that roamed these unusual lands at night. Blushing heavily, and moving in a familiar twitch that allowed her bangs to cover her eyes, the petite mare moved forward into the bit of light that was available. “I-I’m fine, I’m j-just uh-well, I’m just…” What was she doing? Exploring wasn’t a normal answer for this time of night, even she was beginning to feel the nagging call of sleep right behind her eyes. “So, uhm- I… uhm… Imeanyounoharmeither.” The last came out in a rush, strung together without pause. It was a desperate grasping at straws at best—really. Roy peaked through her bangs to look the stallion over and hoped that the night hid the blush that had to be raging across her cheeks.

Luckily for the mare, Tsaphiel was too concerned to notice her blushing or embarrassment to the situation. Her stumbled words did concern him though, and he wasn't sure why she was hiding behind her sentences and unable to give him a full answer.
He took a deep breath and realized he himself needed to pull back a little bit, and not be so intense. Maybe it was he who was making her so nervous. He instantly felt bad.
"Well I'm Tsaphiel, it is very nice to meet you. I spend my nights making sure nice folk like you are ok when out and alone." He paused suddenly and looked more closely at her. She was very beautiful and should not have been out on her own. "What are you doing at this very late hour? Anything I can help with? Do you need to be led somewhere?"
She looked like a mare who enjoyed the sun and its warmth, so why be in the shadows and darkness like he was? It had been so long since Tsaphiel had felt the sun on him. Sometimes at dawn he liked to get a little peak, but he would go inside his cave to get the rest he needed until the moon appeared again. "Are you restless tonight? Perhaps there is something bothering you?" He couldn't help himself... he was always eager to assist.

Socially inept. Roy wanted to beat her head into the ground. She had been raised to be a lady and fully educated in decorum. Instead she was coming across like such a bumbling fool that he thought she was in distress. Okay, so she was in distress right now but only over her own ineptitude. He probably wouldn’t be relieved to know that’s why she’s tripping all over herself. “I’m Gypsy Royal, but many have taken to calling me Roy, if you please. It’s n-nice to meet you too.” Ah, something she was relatively comfortable with. Introducing herself. Not that she really knew anybody, but she practiced conversations with herself. The best way to avoid offending someone… Although she didn’t want to give off a studied air. Gee… The stallion, Tsaphiel, really seemed to want her to be in some sort of distress. Roy felt almost guilty that she was just restless and put her mind to work to think of something that he could help her with. “Uh-m, well… I uh-m, I, that-is.” Man, it wasn’t really very easy to think of a plausible lie, at all. “I just feel very… uneducated in this place… I don’t know what is safe and what isn’t.” Since lies were not something Roy could do with comfort she blurted out her truth. She hated feeling totally blindsided by everything she came into contact with.

It wasn't unusual for Tsaphiel to come off too strong on the worried front. He was a creature of justice and always sought to do right, even when some situations were completely normal. He was starting to realize that this current situation was seriously fine, and he probably needed to cool down a little bit.
"Its very nice to meet you, Roy." He was honored she allowed him the use of a nickname. That must have meant she was a very friendly creature. He watched her calmly try to answer his inquiries, and he wasn't sure why she was so nervous. Was she embarrassed in admitting she didn't understand the area very well?
Tsaphiel wondered if he was reading too deeply into her voice and body language. "Well right now I can assure you that you are safe since you ran into me. No one will harm us, I won't allow it." Tsaphiel may not have looked like a beast, but he was a phenomenal fighter, all thanks to the training he received from his father. That is why he was what he was, and sought to make the world better. "The only education I can offer is that nighttime and a new area is not safe for a mare like yourself, especially one all alone."
He was in no way questioning her abilities, but facts were facts. "Do you usually spend your time up late? I will admit, its nice to have some company." He smiled lightly and was thankful.

Roy mentally checked out for a moment to take a deep breath and compose herself. She was never going to be able to be on her own if a simple conversation reduced her to stammering idiocy. Ok, time to act like the lady she had been raised to be. Too bad that pep talk always ended in her stumbling around like a little fool. “I-I really am pleased to meet you as well Tsaphiel...” The rose hue across her cheeks had begun to fade a bit although with how often she blushed she might as well have always had it. Fear of speaking in an untowards manner really tended to take away the flow of a conversation. Roy had never met someone with so much self-confidence, it seemed to come from deep within. Perhaps she just wasn’t meant to be so comfortable in her own skin? “I am glad to hear that… I have only met a few others in these lands. The kalona mare, she told me I needed to be more careful with what I do…” Roy had propped up a foot and mused a bit to herself. Managing, to not stutter, “My family… we are a-are not tight knit… I… I want to t-travel though.” Oh dear… so she was safe for now, but only until Tsaphiel left her. “I, well… I don’t actually uhm have a… a-err… ‘usual’ as you say… I just.. its been so h-hot during the day that I’ve stopped t-travelling then.” She offered a shy smile and didn’t realize that she had casually glossed over what could have very well have been her own death.

Tsaphiel's ears perked when he heard her mention a Kalona mare. "Why on earth were you with a Kalona? I pray you didn't get hurt somehow?" That was not a light subject matter for Tsaphiel. As someone who had been ravaged as a child, he was instantly worried and concerned on that matter. "Is there a Kalona following us?" If so, he was ready as he always was to protect. Thankfully Roy didn't seem to be hurt.
Shifting his focus slightly and attempting to calm down, he listened quietly as she spoke more about herself. It was sad to hear the detail about her family not being close. The more folks Tsaphiel met the more he realized so many had struggles especially when it came to families. It had been ages since he saw his own family, but deep down he knew the connection they all had was pretty remarkable.
"Where are you hoping to travel to? You know you could fly there." He his tone was playful as not to hurt her feelings. "Are you someone who likes adventure? This land has so many beautiful spots. We are lucky to have been blessed with our wings so we can see everything. I consider it my greatest gift!" Well, that was half true. He considered his life also a great gift as well.
"You mentioned family before.. how many siblings do you have? My family is pretty massive myself, its hard to keep up sometimes." He did miss them though. He would have to stalk them eventually, even if it was at night and when they were sleeping.

Roy blinked and made her mind rewind to the mention of the Kalona she had interacted with… or rather Kalonas. “Oh, no… the mare was actually quite… nice?” She didn’t really know how to explain, she had been uncomfortable the whole time around the mare, like she had been doing something that she shouldn’t have been but – no harm had come to her. That meant that the mare and her son hadn’t been evil, right? “F-Following? W-whyever would tha thappen?” She was beginning to feel a bit panicky and it was difficult to follow along with the rest of their conversation. She had been travelling at night for awhile.. the heat having made daytime seem unbearable. Was she making it easier for herself to be stalked? Oh dear lord. Roy’s mind was more than a bit occupied, making her conversation seem even more disjointed. Just as she thought she might actually start to hyperventilate, he changed the subject to softer things. More comfortable really – family. “Uhm… I have a brother and two sisters… They’re so lovely.” She blushed a bit –as usual, although this time it was a flush of happiness and contentment. Although they were not tight knit, Roy loved them fiercely. Wait… he had joked about something, something she had lost focus of during her panicking… “Oh… and .. uhm, that is… I… I uhm don’tknowhowtofly.” The last five words came out in a high pitched rush… Tweekend x3 yer boy is so nice... Roy = awkward pants XD

Perhaps this mare has been extremely lucky. Everything she was saying was confusing him even more. "I don't mean to keep pestering Roy, but you know that Kalonas are extremely dangerous, right?" Maybe she really had met a kinder Kalona? Tsaphiel had heard of such creatures being possible. But what he always saw at night were Kalonas hunting... and there was nothing pretty or nice about that. "Either way, I'm glad to hear your experience was a positive one. Just be careful in the future, sadly not all contain their rage and love for blood."
As he listened to her speak about her family, he was relieved to hear she was not alone in the world. Those types of encounters always made him sad, and it seemed Roy had a very happy and peaceful life.
Although... did she really say what he thought he heard her say? How was that possible as well! "I.. I think I just heard you say you don't know how to... fly?" he gasped lightly. But why be sad. He could fix this with her. "Has no one ever showed you? Would you like me to show you? Its such a beautiful night to try!" Sure she'd be taking a bit of a leap of faith, but he was here to save the day.

Roy knew now, the mare had even told her, that she had been lucky to not end up severely injured from her own mix of stupidity and bravery… but since hindsight tended to be 20/20 she had a hard time imagining that the mare had really been that evil. “I know… she just… seemed… she seemed… w-wise? I-I, th-that i.s… I wasn’t comfortable b-but I uhm… I think she had better things to do?” Perhaps she would be better off just sticking to things without wings… was there a way to guarantee that wingless others were safe? This was too difficult. Straightening up a bit, Roy tossed her bangs back out of her eyes and looked at the stallion without the shield of hair for the first time. She still felt awkward but it was nice to not be hidden byehind her usual curtain. “Eh… I- I’m… scared.” The sentence was quiet, spoken quickly and had her tilting her head back down to allow the hair to hide her eyes. “I-I’ve had offers before, well, an offer… b-but Bane is so fearless… She j-just wanted me to uhm.. ‘jump and let your instincts take control’ that seemed too scary for me.” Since then Roy had never bothered to even think about flying again. Chalking it up to thinking that just maybe her wings were just supposed to be decoration, not useful. “I… t-the night is b-beautiful… b-but if that’s how you’re supposed to do it… well… I, just… I can’t.”

Perhaps Roy had received a valuable lesson from the Kalona encounter she had. Tsaphiel was still grateful to hear no harm had come her way. No matter how that happened, he was just also relieved said Kalona was not following or near them. He was still was alert and ready... just in case.
And however Roy had been taught about flying, Tsaphiel did not agree with that lesson. It seemed so forced and scary. Who had told her to jump? "No no, I don't want you to jump into the air. Flying is a natural and beautiful thing. Haven't your wings ever ached to do so?" He flapped his to show off the movement if even just for fun.
"I actually don't remember how I learned, but I know that my parents showed me how to use the muscles, and I slowly eased in to in when I felt ready. Perhaps it is something you can practice every day, so that one day your wings will carry you far and wide across the land. Practice always makes perfect."
He had hoped for her sake she would learn one day, so many creatures were not blessed with wings, so why not take advantage? "I believe you can do it- but when you feel strong and ready. Probably would be easier to do so in the sunlight as well." And that unfortunately he would not be able to see with her, but he would be there in spirit.

The angeni-mix would probably never realize how close to danger she had been, those who have never been injured tended to hold onto a certain innocence until blood had been shed. Roy kept as relaxed as possible, although she felt a bit tense talking about her failures. “I.. I suppose I have often felt curious about flying, sometimes I’ve even wanted to do what I was told b-but… it’s scary.” Roy frequently kept her wings fluttering, just enough for them to be moving and working, but not fast enough for her to lift up off of the ground at all “Was, Was it hard to do? Do you remember it being hard?” Roy looked at Tsaphiel hopefully and wished with her might that she wasn’t such a coward, she’d fly up in the sky, just a bit to see more. Why was she such a nit when it came to travelling? The only other full conversation she had had was the one that could have caused her so much damage. “I I-I .. well, I think that I would rather try at night. I, uhm, what if the sun were to get into my eyes and I fell? Moonlight is so much more gentle, it’s beautiful. I-I mean I love the sun too, but there.. there’s a certain peace I’ve found a-at night.” Oh man, she sounded like a looney toon. An anti-social loon that liked to run around at night by herself because she’s too simple to carry a flowing conversation and too scared to use the wings she was born with.
