Jem woke as the sun began to shine through the surface of the water, hopeful for another fun-filled day. She felt much more rested than she had been in the previous days, with energy running rampant through her little body. "I wonder who is out and about this early," she said to herself as she swam to the ocean floor to grab a few blades of seaweed. After filling her belly with seaweed, she darted up to the surface, leaping out of the water and hitting the surface with a powerful splash.

Cocomin was dreaming about a Whisper on a rainy day and, while she was normally a morning person, wasn't happy about leaving that dream behind. She should have been up already. Dawn was always a good time to find new things along the water's edge. But she had missed that window of opportunity. Now she just needed to find something to eat.
With a sigh, Cocomin heads towards the surface. It wouldn't be fruit washed into the ocean by a storm, but the kelp beds she had found a few days ago should still be around somewhere fairly close and would be good for breakfast.
Caught by surprise as a splash washes over her when she breaks the surface, Cocomin looks around for the source. She had judged the waves quite well, wouldn't overcome her as she rode their swells, but splashes were another thing entirely.
But, as Cocomin spotted the other seathi mare, she took a deep breath. She knew she was in a grump. Any other morning, playful and exuberant splashing would bring out her playful side. And the mare did look rather joyous.
With a shake of her head and a slightly rueful grin of self-recrimination, Cocomin put on a smile. There was no need to live in a dream. The world was awake and calling to her. And a playful romp seemed like a perfect way to start a day and chase away the cobwebs of whispered dreams.

Jem continued with the semi-frequent leaps, contorting her body to make the biggest splash; after all, that was the best part of being a seathi, making the biggest splashes. As Jem continued with the leaps. she spotted movement is the distance. She wondered if this could be someone new to pal around with, quite happy that her splashing had at least drawn the attention of another, or at least it seemed.
As Jem looked on between splashes, she noticed that the figure seemed to be moving closer, and that excited Jem even more. Jem decided it was time to make her approach, exhilarated with the idea that she was going to share some time with a new pal. She gave a big leap into the air, and landed with what she felt as the biggest splash of the day. She kept the speed going as she hit the surface, and Jetted off into the direction of what she could now depict as another mare. "Hello!" she yelled out as she made the approach.

Cocomin smiled as the other mare approached. "Hello. Plesant day." She hoped this could be a new friend. Once the mare was close enough for friendly conversation. "I'm Cocomin. It's nice to see someone else out and playing."

"Well hello Cocmin," Jem began, "My name's Jem. I'm sorry if my splashing disturbed you," she lied, " I know sometimes I get a bit to excited with my leaping." Jem had wanted to get the attention of another seathi, and it had worked, although Jem had wondered if she had gotten the attention of anyone else. Jem liked to make friends and spending time with large groups of them.
"It is a wonderful day to b e out playing. What were you doing before I disturbed you?" she asked the mare, "Hopefully something we can do together. I love meeting new friends and playing!" Jem paused for a moment, realizing she may have been running on. "Breathe" she said to herself. "I am terribly sorry if I seem to just blabber. Its just... Its been a while since I've met anyone new!"
