Nuivian exhaled deeply and rolled his shoulders. Alright, a new day. This time it should work. How many more times could he possibly screw this up? He was starting to think that he was gaining a personal vendetta against Ysali dragons. They were really starting to piss him off.
He abruptly stopped his chain of thought and took another deep breath. Keep cool. He wasn’t going to get anywhere if he got himself all worked up and negative right off the bat. Though he couldn’t really say there was a time when he wasn’t very negative. He continued to roll his shoulders while looking into the forest. Maybe it was the forest that was wrong. Maybe he needed to try a different one? Though he knew it really couldn’t be the forest. He sighed heavily and rubbed the sore spot on his back from yesterday’s excursions. Maybe what he needed to do was just get stronger first.
Though that was about the last thing he wanted to admit.
He straightened his shoulders out, puffed up his chest and pushed his feet into moving farther into the forest. He was starting to lose steam after all of his failed attempts, but the show must go on. Maybe after today he would give it a rest for a while. He walked through the forest, a trek he seemed to be making more and more often, and looked around for his next round of bruising. He was lucky enough last to time have just been dragged into the air. But that was somewhat of a rare occasion. These trips usually ended with him being physically battered in some way. Damned things.
He came to spot his next target soon enough and began the same way he always had; he snuck around. He got behind a tree and looked around; making sure it hadn’t seen him. It seemed to be oblivious enough, so he crept forward slowly, but before he could even get a chance to pull his dagger out, the damned thing spotted him and struck. Before he even knew what was happening the Ysali dragon had clamped onto his arm and then flown off. OUCH. DAMN. Well that was it; Nuivian had had it.
