Information

The gather will officially last about two weeks but there's no fixed end date currently. Flitt eggs prizes will be given out when things seem to slow down, but the thread will remain unlocked for people to keep posting as long as they like.

This gather counts as an event of the purposes of rank requirements (remember you must be an adult rider to start accumulating these), but you must have at least 10 posts (that are not one liners) in here to count it.

Feel free to begin posting now! Kleos will make her little speech shortly and then everyone can go off and have fun.

What's going on when?
Posting in the gather

To keep things from getting confusing please indicate in bold at the top of your post what area your character is in: fest tables, stalls, dance area, or wherever else they are such as 'in the water'.

So far as IC time goes, we're playing fast and loose. Please put in bold at the top of your post the vague time your posts are taking place eg 'late afternoon - fest tables' or 'early evening - stalls'. This means that you can have your character manning a craft stall part of the time and enjoying themselves either before they set up or once they sell out. Don't worry if you are RPing in the afternoon while some others are RPing in the evening, but only interact with people in the same vague place and time as you! You can hop around places and times with your posts, you can even RP the same character at different times concurrently if you want!

There's no post order here, or limits on how fast you can post.

So what can I spend?
Money money money!

- Different characters have different levels of wealth. Listed below is the marks a given character has to spend. If your character fits in more than one category they have the higher number of marks. If your character received money or goods in a previous event (such as the pearls given to riders in one threadfall) you may add that to your total provided you give a link showing the the value of the goods they received and are assumed to have sold. The base money characters had in the last gather cannot be carried forward, but money they made there as a crafter can.

Mark denominations are 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 5,10, and 100. 1 mark is equal to about $20 USD, while 100 marks is about $2000 USD.

Weyrbrat - 1 Mark
Candidate/Apprentice - 2 Marks
Weyrling - 3 Marks
Wingrider/Jr. Journeyman - 5 Marks
Search/Courier/Watch/ Sr. Journeyman - 6 Marks
Warden/Assistant Weyrlingmaster/Assistant Candidatemaster - 7 Marks
Wingsecond/Master crafter - 8 Marks
Wingleader/Jr. Weyrwoman - 10 Marks

Please keep a tally of your remaining marks as you spend!

What's for sale?
NPC Stalls

- If you choose you may try to haggle rather than just paying the marked price. If you do so roll 1d20 and see the list below. Characters who are stated to be charming or smooth talkers in their profiles may add +1 to their rolls! If they are stated to be abrasive or awkward sorts you get -1. You may make only one haggling attempt per item.

Added: If you at least journeyman - or an apprentice haggling with an apprentice - in the same craft as an NPC, you get another +1 to haggling!

1: You have insulted the stall keeper with your measly offer! They won't sell to you; not the item you were haggling for, not anything! >[
2-10: The stall keeper stands firm, that's the price so take it or leave it.
11-17: The stall keeper agrees to a small discount, you get 1/4 a mark off their price. If the item was under a mark to start with, you get 1/8 off. No discount for items under 1/4 mark.
18-19: The stall keeper must be in a good mood! You get a mark off their price for items above 1 mark, 1/2 a mark off 1 mark item, 1/4 off an item under a mark, 1/8 off if it was below 1/4.
20: Woah, you got 50% off their marked price! Either you've got a silver tongue or they really like the look of you.

I want to make some cash!
PC stalls

- PCs can set up craft stalls to sell their wares or skills. To have a stall just fill in the form below, post it here in the thread, and I will add it to the list of stalls. Non crafters can set up a stall too if they think they have a marketable skill: fortune telling booths, dating advisory services, whatever you like!

- The value of the goods you have should not more than double the total marks you have to spend at that rank. (NPC stalls don't necessarily follow this rule). This means you will need to list a your total stock, either that or close up shop if you take the maximum possible. Having a stall costs 1/2 a mark per apprentice manning it, 1 mark per jr journeyman, 1 1/2 per sr journeyman, and 2 marks per master. You should deduct this from the marks you have to spend initially, but of course any money you make by selling is added to your total!

- For those who have a stall but no craft rank use the years you have been practising as a guide to the value of good and services you can go up to. 1-8 years = apprentice equivalent, 9-16 years jr journeyman, 17-24 = sr journeyman, 25+ = master.

- You may make joint stalls, the above rule still applies to your own goods.

- Feel free to haggle away to your hearts' content, obviously PCs are not subject to NPC bargaining rules.

He has a few instruments with him: the guitar, a wooden flute, panpipes and a small hand drum, and he's always seen playing one of them. On each shoulder is perched a fire lizard, one blue and one brown, both of which hum or sing along to whatever music he's currently playing. Behind him is the reason he's on the outside of the stalls; a green weyrling dragon is curled up there, head on her forepaws and eyes sleepily half-lidded as she watches the goings-on of the Gather. Competitions

There are various game stalls scattered around the place and some of them have great prizes!

Ring toss!

"Roll up roll up! Simple ladies and gents, couldn't be simpler! Take yourself three rings and try to toss them onto these here pegs! Just 1/4 mark to have a go, and great prizes to win! Your score will go up here on my board, and whoever has the highest score at the end of the night gets this lovely firelizard egg in addition to their prizes! Just 1/4 mark ladies and gents, step up!" - Tall black haired man with a big nose.

To play:
- Roll 3d6. Odd numbers are misses, even numbers are worth the number of points shown on the dice so 2, 4, or 6. After this fill in your RP post, your character may spend up to their points total on prizes listed below. Spend as you like: if you have 6 points you can get 1 six point prize, or you could get 1 four point and 1 two point prize, etc etc.
- Whoever has the highest points total near the end of the ORP will receive a firelizard egg too! In the case of tie the two winners will be called back to the stall to do a tie-break round, deciding who gets the egg. Sorry, this was stupid and confusing. It should be highest first throw @_@

Two days had passed since the Threadfall. In the immediate aftermath Trine's healers were kept busy with human and dragon patients alike but there were no more deaths. Teams armed with flamethrowers scoured the Weyr and surrounding jungle destroying Thread burrows, whilst others worked to replenish Trine's stores of wood that had been destroyed by the ravenous silver filaments.

Within the bounds of the Weyr itself other preparations were taking place, preparations for a gather and feast to honor the lives of wingsecond K'tar and bronze Vorith. Proceedings were being overseen by wingleader Kleos and by K'tar's weyrmate Jo'lan, the tough blue-rider ensuring with occasionally reddened eagle-eyes that everything was arranged as her love would have liked.

The event was to take place near the shore of the northernmost lake, an afternoon and night of feasting and dancing, crafter's stalls and games to play. Long trestle tables were set out heaving with good things to eat and drink. A special table of food and drink was set out at the head of the ranks of tables; it was to be reserved only for gold riders, wingleaders, seconds, the candidatemaster and weyrlingmaster and their assistants, and K'tar's nearest kin: Jo'len hisweyrmate, and Rotar his brother who aged out of candidacy and went into beastcrafting. The food and drink here was to be of a higher quality than to be found on the rest of the tables, and anyone caught taking from it would find themselves in hot water.

The now senior-weyrlings were instructed by the Senior Weyrlingmaster that their drinking was left to their discretion, those with nervous dragons however were strongly advised to stick to only one or two if they drank at all. Along the shore from the tables were traders' booths, the fees collected from their stalls had paid for a portion of the festivities. Set before the booths and tables down on the shore a temporary stage had been constructed for Harpers and the sand before that had been carefully raked smooth for dancing. Harpers were also permitted to find clear spaces to do solo or group performances, but if they collected any tips for their efforts a small portion was to be paid into the Weyr's coffers.

After some debate it had been decided that speeches and formalities would be taken care of first thing, mainly because this meant that everyone was (nearly) guaranteed to be sober.

So it was that at the fifth candlemark after noon Kleos climbed slowly up onto the Harpers' stage, clearly still hampered by the wounds she had taken in the depths of Benden Weyr.

Moriath said, her presently calm alto tones reaching all those milling around the gather area.

Kindra

Kindra arrived fairly early for the gather, she was clean and well dressed in her fine purple dress she had bought for herself at the last Gather, the one where N'mol had given her the lovely knife she was never without nowadays. It was there in it's dyed leather belt and sheath, dyed to almost match the dress so it didn't really look out of place. She'd been rather looking forward to the gather actually, it have her and N'mol some time out of regular duties and a chance to enjoy themselves once the formalities were finished with, she'd go wander the stalls once Kleos was done with her speech. The woman might ride an atypical but even Kindra had to admit she was a damned good wingleader and losing your wingsecond was just ... well Kindra didn't really have words for it but she wasn't going to ruin the speech for Kleos, she didn't LIKE Atypes but she could respect them, especially if they'd worked as hard as she knew Kleos worked, it didn't mean she liked the woman though.

She watched Kleos move up to the Harpers stage and she eyed the crowd, just waiting for ANYONE to speak out of turn, she'd feed them to Kleos' crimson if they did. She waited, respectfully, for Kleos to finish, impatient to get to the stalls but knowing her duty.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Becka
Becka reluctantly left Phasianth with Berath, she almost didn't want to come to the gather at all, there being many injured from the Threadfall but she came out of respect for Kleos and her fallen Wingsecond... that and she'd been urged by Phasianth too, threatened even to bugle his little heart out if she didn't go. He wanted Becka to have fun and enjoy herself, especially as he knew she was only allowed to help with patients in her spare time, which she didn't have much of caring for him so it made sense for Phasianth to urge her to have fun, and anyway if he hadn't ... Bereck most likely would have.
Speaking of Bereck, he must already be at the gather since Berath was around, Becka suspected Alina would be helping him, She'd try and find him soon, she wasn't going to miss Wingleader Kleos' speech, that would be incredibly disrespectful.
Bereck
He'd got dressed up. He didn't usually bother with anything beyond his usual smart practical attire but he had sent a note to a pretty lady saying 'gather?' with a doodle of an anatomically correct heart. There were just some things you had to do, wanted to do to please other people. Special people.
His trousers and shirt were creamy linen; the trousers straight legged and neatly pressed, the shirt fuller in the sleeve than he usually wore. His vest, bearing his rank knots, was silk dyed as close to the shade of his eyes as he had been able to get with gold buttons and a bit of gold embroidery. Somehow it felt exciting and like far too much all at once. He had her cane too of course, and lent on it as he approached the Harpers' stage. Alina would be here soon, he assumed, but until she appeared he supposed he would pay attention. A man had died after all.
The bulk of Bereck's fair wheeled over his head at varying heights, taking in the scenery and enjoying his good mood. Cap and Carp were nowhere to be seen, still dispatched on an important mission, and Sanguine took her usual place on her owner's shoulder. She was the boss, so she got to ride on him when he had knots on and so just one shoulder available as a perch.
J'nes
Although it had been a couple days, J'nes's left leg was still stiff from his recent Threadscore. But with enough numbweed on the wound he was able to stand and move about, as long as he didn't do so to vigorously. Not that he would want to, because he came to the Gather sporting something he'd made as he recovered.
Across his chest was a sling made of cloth striped in shades of blue. The sling looped over one shoulder and under the other arm, was lightly padded along the broad strap, and held a small bundle suspended in front of his chest. The contents sometimes could be seen to shift or wiggle slightly of its own accord, but generally stayed still. His clothes were also notably not his Gather best. While they were well cut and perfectly tailored, likely also his own work, they were made of a sturdy material suitable for work, or getting dirty.
J'nes made his way over to a table near the stage so that he could hear the speeches, his progress a little slow due to his injury. As he went to sit down, he put one had on the tabletop to support his weight, and the other hand on the sling to support it. As he eased himself onto the bench, an observer might be able to make out a tiny hand or the sleeping face of a newborn baby peeking out from the sling.
K'yne
As a senior weyrling, K'yne supposed he ought to celebrate the drinking ban being lifted. It meant intoxication and fun for many, a way to be adults again instead of humans chained to an infant. Even with Psaumith being one of the decidedly less nervous of the dragons, the weaver felt no inclination to drown whatever sorrow or anger he supposed he had. Psaumith watched from K'ynes eyes, too stubborn to believe K'yne to be entirely safe in the throng of people.
The weyrling weaved through the crowds, more intent to get nearer to the wingleader for a good view. Being short did him no favors. Still, she spoke, and he felt an odd and disturbingly female voice in his head.
Psaumith brindled. K'yne waited.
-----
Alina
She received the letter and tucked it away in a drawer before replying. Alina promised a dress and a dress she arrived in, another long, straight thing to her ankles. It felt somewhat snug at the top and hips but the skirt fanned out and swished when she walked, her sandeled feet visible. She wore her knots on her arm, wrapped just below her elbow. It didn't take long to spot Bereck, not with his firelizards and that hair. Alina walked through the crowds, unmindful of many, and slid up beside him with a faint smile.
"I'm impressed by your artistic abilities, my love," she murmured, leaning in so he could hear. "And that outfit looks very nice."
C’ross
It would be C’ross’ first gather in… well, Turns. Not since he lived at the Hold with his family, at least. He had to admit he was kind of excited.
Of course, it felt wrong to be excited, considering the circumstances that had caused this particular gather. One of the weyr’s wingseconds had fallen. But C’ross hadn’t known the man, and apparently his surviving weyrmate and his wingleader agreed that he should be honored with a celebration, not with somber solemnity. C’ross passed by a few of the stalls and games on the way, and while he paused to gaze wistfully at the smith’s display of beautiful daggers, Moriath’s voice in his head urged him to move on swiftly.
It was too bad that Nimith was now too large to come with him to the festivities, he thought. It wasn’t very long ago at all that the blue would have been on his heels, an inseparable shadow. But Nimith was pretty well-healed now from the injuries he’d received from the wher, and it seemed that the blue was growing stronger and sturdier than ever.
Spotting a fellow weyrling in the crowd, C’ross maneuvered to stand near K’yne, flashing a brief smile for the brownrider. “Hey. Have you seen anyone else from our class?”
---
Idris
Singhath had sought out Moriath perhaps a quarter-candlemark before the appointed time, the silver making sure to place himself where he would be able to easily locate the crimson. When she bespoke the crowd, he turned a deep stormy grey-blue eye upon her. My rider will be in the appropriate place at the appropriate time. And then he was still once again, a statue cast in steel with accents of silver.
As for Idris, she had taken some care over her appearance on this particular day. Her black hair was pulled back and neatly twisted up into a bun – nothing particularly intricate, as there wasn’t much she could do with her short bob, but secured in place with a small silver clasp that was the only jewelry she owned. She had declined a dress, given the situation: she wanted to give off the impression of a warrior, not of a lady. So instead she’d gone for the deep blue tunic with its hems decorated in touches of silver and white thread. It was long enough to imply femininity, especially when cinched at the waist – she would not be mistaken for a man by any means – but sensible in its cut, with a high collar and sturdy trousers and boots beneath. And that was all. Respectable, but not excessive.
She looked somewhat out-of-place as she moved like a ghost through the milling crowd, carefully stepping around clusters of chattering friends and admiring customers at each stall. Idris slowed only when she was close enough to see the stage, at which point Moriath’s announcement boomed in her mind.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 18, 2013 2:35 pm
replied Moriath.
Kleos folded her arms behind her back and cleared her throat. The crowd was... the crowd was a little intimidating. Even now she wasn't used to it, not completely. What could she possibly have to say to so many people older and wiser than she was? Nobility was one thing, competence another. She couldn't afford to look weak though and so borrowing Moriath's strength as she so often did she took a breath and turned her mind to the speech she had prepared.
"My fellow riders. Crafters, candidates, wher handlers and Weryfolk. We come together today to remember a great man and a great dragon. K'tar was my wingsecond for more than two turns and over that time I came to appreciate and value his steadfastness, his loyalty, his dedication... and his sense of fun when he took off his flight jacket. It is for those virtues and many others that Jo'len and I have asked all of you to be here today, that you might celebrate the lives that served you tirelessly and touched ours so deeply.
"Though my heart is heavy and I am inclined to look back, today we must all look to the future as well. K'tar... K'tar the man was one of a kind and can never be replaced, but his place in Dauntless must be filled. Though we fly without a comrade from this day on we shall fly as strong as ever and we shall not falter in our duties. He and I spoke of this, for every rider knows their own mortality and...." Kleos' voice hitched and she cleared her throat hard as she reached into a pocket and drew out a set of wingsecond knots: Trine brown, Dauntless indigo, and silver. "And so I give you the rider we agreed should succeed him should he fall. A Dauntless heart who I know will never flinch from duty, no matter the cost. People of Trine, I give you Idris and Singhath! Raise your voices to honour them, and to honour K'tar and Vorith!"
Her speech had wandered a little off the one she had written, but perhaps it was better that it was organic in the end. Standing as tall as she could draw her weary battered body Kleos looked down at Idris, saluted, and held out the knots as she waited for her new 'second to join her on the stage.
[Idris will say a few words as she collects her knots, and then everyone is free to go!]
Idris
Even knowing it was coming, her heart clenched tight and caught in her throat when Kleos called her name. But a moment later Singhath’s mind was brushing against hers, sending his strength and his confidence through the bond. As far as the silver was concerned, it was only due to them – Idris wasn’t so sure. They would have a great deal of proving to do.
“Thank you, Wingleader, for this opportunity.” Her solemn black eyes met Kleos’ briefly as she reached out and took the knots. Her voice, level as always, was not particularly loud: projected enough that most nearby would hear, but clearly meant primarily for the crimsonrider. “I will not fail you.”
Turning to the crowd, she notched up the volume, as this part was intended for everyone. “As Wingleader Kleos said… K’tar cannot be replaced, and I do not intend to try. But we carry on. He knew and accepted the risks we all take for the sake of Pern. As I accept the risks I incur, as every rider here accepted them when we first stood on the Sands.” Her gaze swept over the crowd, seeking familiar faces and unfamiliar, rider and Candidate alike. Let this be a reminder to the younger ones, the Candidates and the weyrlings, that the life ahead of them was as much duty as it was glory and adventure.
“As the old song goes – worlds are lost or worlds are saved from those dangers dragon-braved. We look to the skies, and we always will.” Offering a brief salute to Kleos, she moved to the edge of the stage and stepped back down off it to move once again back into the crowd.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 18, 2013 2:54 pm
Kleos
Kleos returned the salute, offering her new wingsecond a tight but genuine smile. As the metallic rider departed Kleos turned back to the crowd, that small smile still on her lips. "And now, I think we have kept you quite long enough. Take a drink in K'tar's memory friends, for he would wish us all to celebrate coming through another Fall. We are riders of three Weyrs, and in fact some come even from other than Benden and Malvren. Many Weyrs, many Holds, and one people here today at Trine; united against whatever enemy may stand against us be it Thread or wherholder! Many challanges lie ahead of us friends but for today eat, drink, and be merry. Thank you."
With that Kleos in turn stepped down from the stage, and a quartet of Harpers moved up in her place to kick off the music.
Bereck
He took in a breath and sighed it out as her voice made his heart lift, warm, then melt. Tilting his chin up more than was strictly necessary to meet her gaze he smirked just a little. "Well, you know I'm good with my hands," he murmured for her ears only.
As he listened to the speeches Bereck slid an arm around his weyrmate's waist, trying not to think too much about the subject matter. That last fall, he hadn't been able to think all through it. He had hardly been able to breathe. Aleck and Rochelle, how easily could it have been one of them who died? If it had been one of them there would have been no gather.
Bereck looked up at the stage, at the two women now standing on it, and his grip on Alina's waist and on his cane tightened. They needed to leave. He couldn't stand this place much longer.
When the ranking riders stepped off the stage the healer relaxed a little and looked up at Alina again. "You look beautiful, Star. Did you do something with your hair? And the dress is lovely, especially on you." Maybe off her later, depending on how tired they were after the gather.
Kindra had to admit she was slightly moved by the depth of affection in Kleos' voice for her wingsecond however she WAS surprised that the woman promoted a new wingsecond so easily on the day to celebrate a trusted friend, the woman talked about non one was replacing K'tar but Kindra felt personally, the announcement could have waited, choosing a new wingsecond as soon as grieving allowed was all well and good but she felt it could have been handled differently, but no matter, Kleos ensured that it was both a celebration of things past, and things to come so that was good, at least for morale hopefully. However Kleos' choice of winsecond irritated Kindra, another atypical .. PAH!... Respect she could do .. but it didn't mean she had to like the crimson-rider's choices though to give Kindra her credit she didn't show her distaste, hiding her face in a small cup of wine.... she wrinkled her nose at THAT though, not the best vintage but it WAS one passed round on a tray and not at the tables reserved for the ranking riders.
She decided to meander along the stalls, browsing the goods and something that caught her eye .. well two things .. were a very lovely ornate dagger, (perfect for N'mol) and a Gold Dragon brooch, now Kindra thought that would look perfect on practically everything she owned except flying leathers, that tempted her but she decided to try her luck on the dagger, hopefully it was as useful as it was ornate, she'd LOVE to see it sitting in it's sheath along N'mol's hips. Just to know he was protected with a dagger, and something ornate .. might NOT be his tastes but she hoped he'd like it anyway.
She cleared her throat as she attempted to politely get the attention of the master smith "Excuse me, what's the price on this dagger?" she said, pointing at the jewelled rider's dagger
Kindra - Jr Weyrwoman = 10 marks
The Smith's face lit up as the gold rider came over and immediately spotted his finest piece. It was the work of a master, a master who had worked very hard to create it. "Weyrwoman Kindra!" he swept a slight bow. "For that, my asking is ten marks. The steel of the blade is tempered to perfection m'lady so don't let the beauty fool you into thinking it a trinket! I'm sure you well enough know that beauty can be strength in itself, and that you'll find in this piece. Please, do test it in your hand for balance gold rider! It's some of my finest work, I'm dearly proud of it."
Z'fer
Black unadorned tunic, sturdy trousers at boots, and his Wingleader knots (Trine colors plus a small blue knot for Malvren) were all that Z'fer wore today. His usual gather attire deemed to frivolous for the purpose of today's festivities. He also stood alone in the crowd, with just his two small flits accompanying him.
He stood in respectful silence as Kleos gave her speech. Any other Wing, and Z'fer might have had something to say about a Wingsecond who died his first time leading, but Z'fer was in no mood for snarking today. He gave a few heavy claps when her speech was concluded. For the sake of Kleos, and the rest of the Dauntless Wing, he hoped Idris was ready for this. He watched her take the stage and give a succinct speech of her own. It earned her a few points in his book.
He turned away from the stage as the two Malvren riders left. He'd give his condolences and congratulations later around the feast tables.
Cai
Sure, if I'd STOOD on the Sands I might have accepted them. But no, you had to pick me out of the sidelines. The words were harsh but the mirth bubbling from the other half of her bond made Cai's lips purse with the attempt to not smile.
There could be no other than you for me. I can't change what I am. At least we had an alternative?
In a way. I suppose. Though it doesn't solve all the problems I have with this 'Rider' business. Cai stroked Gingko's cheeks, projecting the same motion to Miath. The combined croons broke Cai's smile free for a brief moment.
Miath stretched, rolling her shoulders and wing-joints back before recoiling into a ball where she lay, baking luxuriously on the hot stones of Trine's cliffs. You worry too much about problems that can't be solved. Accept what we can't change and relax. You are mine and I am yours. Nothing is wrong when we are together. Miath didn't remember the attack on Benden, where Cai had foolishly made herself ill and Wen had been captured. Cai was careful to keep the crimson from remembering. Are you going to stay?
I might get something to drink. We'll see.
Zarike
Speeches were boring, especially when you couldn't see the speakers themselves. Could a kid really be blamed when he had an empty stomach and a couple marks rattling in his pocket? The moment the crowd broke up, he was gone, weaving his way through the stalls to try and find the games he'd seen set up earlier.
Zarike: 2 Marks
Becka couldn't help the small tear that rolled down her cheek and she had to clear her throat when all the speech making was over, it brought back to her, again, exactly what COULD happen to her and Phasianth when they eventually flew a real fall, she might not want to, the thought might scare her so much she'd probably need several changes of pants during a flight but she was sure that she wouldn't be allowed to just... NOT fly and fight against the dreaded Thread.
Phasianth was there, sending his love down the link between them, his mental tone murmuring nonsense but it was comforting to know that no matter WHAT happened to those around her, Phasianth was the other half of her soul. She turned away from the stand where Kleos and the silverrider Idris had been making their speeches and towards the market stalls.
"Phas, it sure feels weird knowing you're seeing exactly what i'm seeing" she told him with a giggle at some small children running past, stuffed firelizard toys in hand, parent trying to keep up with them. The simple things like that made Becka very happy, and it reminded her that although the thought of flying Thread scared the crap out of her... scenes like THAT wouldn't be possible without the dragonriders..... his voice boomed in her mind, as well as her ears hearing an excited screechbugle from Phasianth's direction. She blinked and looked back around until the mental urging of Phasianth was too much to bear "Please Phas love, use your quiet voice, i can hear you just fine" she told him, blinking hard as she was directed towards a Weaver's stall from the looks of things....ooooh that blue dress sure was pretty, and entirely Becka's thinking but she doubted she had the marks for something so lovely so she tried to turn away from it but Phasianth boomed in her mind again
"ALRIGHT!" she said, then clamped a hand over her mouth as she realised she'd said that very loudly ... and very NOT mentally and someone behind the stall's counter looked at her very startled "I'll ask alright Phas but i only have three marks, and it looks very fancy, i probably won't have enough she said privately to Phasianth then to the startled looking teen, she blushed "I'm sorry i was talking to my dragon, not you" she said quietly "How...how much is that blue dress please? My dragon is a blue you see" as if that explained everything.
"!!!!!!" said Markus.
After a few moments he went bright red. "I! Hello! Hello and welcome to- The dress is the work of Senior Journeywoman Lyn! Note the f-fine embroidery! It's a steal at two marks miss, a steal! A-and Lyn will fit it perfectly to you miss, just perfectly if you buy!"
Behind the apprentice the Journeywoman suppressed a sigh and let him get on with it, poor daft boy had to learn sooner or later.
