Welcome to Rapture! the one and only city settled deep in the Atlantic. The year is 1956. Its society can make you or break you, especially when it's filled with the surface's most elite scientists, writers, models, ect., mixed with the common folk who built the place, literally. But no matter how you make your way in Rapture, the experience of living in a city under the sea is like no other. Leaving is not an option, but despite the hardships, no one would ever want to.
Currently, the city is still under control of its founder, Andrew Ryan, but he doesn't interfere much in common affairs. Rumor has it that he has a personal team of scientists working on something big. All other scientists, at this point, are researching pretty basic things, some of them specializing in water sealants, suit construction, ect...only some quack named Brigid Tenenbaum has a different kind of dream, but it's best not to listen to her ravings. Then there's the infamous criminal mastermind Frank Fontaine. No one quite knows where he came from or what his intentions are, but Ryan's men are always watching.
Our story is focused on the material side of Rapture for now, and its unique inhabitants. To start the thread, we'll just be going about our daily lives, meeting each other, and finding a niche in the city. Eventually, plot twists will be added...perhaps adding some of the civil tension with the capitalist politics of Rapture (Ryan Industry vs. the common man), and possibly introduce ADAM and EVE to the city...like a prequel to the actual Bioshock, this roleplay takes place before the chaos that overran Rapture.
