Spinel blinks and giggles, looking around the meadow to see if anyone else is out and about to talk to.

Ryuukishin Garland side-eyed Spinel warily, wondering how he could safely pass her. An unmentionable incident with a sparrow had made him cautious around most birds, and though he wasn't exactly sure what exactly the stranger was, her wings made her suspect.

Spinel spotted the beautifully marked foal and her eyes lit up. She trotted up to him with a warm smile. "Hi!" she trilled, her voice high and bell-like. "Hi there. Nice to meet you." He looked a bit wary to her, so she did her best to seem friendly as possible. Her giant tail swayed behind her happily, though her otherwise sugary demeanor was slightly off-putting with the addition of a gleaming white snake curled around her neck.

Ryuukishin "It speaks," Garland said, though his attempt at haughtiness was curbed by the obvious surprise in his voice. Was it a soquili, too? If it was, it didn't seem dangerous at least, and the claws and snake were likely only there for show. He inhaled deeply, swelling his chest and pretending as if he hadn't been edging towards the safety of a boulder off to the side, but still keeping his distance.
"What are you?" Ah, yes, he was just brimming with manners today.

If Spinel caught the derisive tone in his voice, she didn't show it. "Yes, I speak," she said, sounding more helpful than sarcastic. "And I'm a she, just so you know." She thought it was obvious, bt maybe not so much? Oh well, no harm done.
"What am I?" She blinked and tilted her head in confusion. "I'm a Soquili," she said with a charming giggle, as if he had told a joke. She looked down at her claws and large tail and gave a nod. "Kind of a weird one, I guess. What about you? You have gorgeous colors on your coat!"

Ryuukishin Garland was taken back by the stranger's apparent nonchalance, and easily humbled because of it.
"Oh," he said lamely. His mom and a little filly named Ri were the only females he'd met so far. The former had halos of light surrounding her and the latter had ears and a tail similar to the stranger's own, though much thinner. Was weirdness the determining factor when it came to gender? But no, that couldn't be it. A creepy soquili he met recently with bones and flames all over him had been a stallion. It was all very confusing to say the least, but as he was unwilling to reveal his ignorance, he simply accepted the soquili's word for it.
"Well... I'm a Soquili, too," he offered, still confused but thrilled because her compliment. "Thanks!"

"I can see that," she said with a smile. She looked him over, her tail still waving behind her happily. "You look young, are you old enough to be out here all on your own? You must be brave."
She looked around the meadow, wondering if his parents were about. "My name is Spinel, by the way. What's yours?"

"I'm a 'he,' too, Garland added, just in case. He was suspicious of her smile but she'd been nice to him so far, and he let himself relax, if only a little.
"And I don't need anyone," he said with a huff, throwing his nose high in the air with feigned indifference. A butterfly alighted atop of it, which earned startled cry from him. Alas, he still had the vocal chords of youth and the scream came out shrill and undignified -- even more so when he pelted towards the mare and hid beneath her enormous tail.
When it was safe and he realized what he'd done, he backtracked immediately to his former location before pretending the entire event had never occurred.
"I'm Garland."

Spinel couldn't help but giggle when he cried out over the butterfly, but it was a charming, playful laugh as opposed to being mocking or mean-spirited. She lifted her tail and looked back at him as he retreated. "Nice to meet you, Garland," she said between her chuckles.
"Well, I still think you're brave being out here all alone. I'm pretty knew here myself. Do you like it here much?"

Garland decided he liked the mare. She was nice, but more importantly, she thought he was brave! And he hadn’t had to prove it yet, either! Though the butterfly incident had occurred less than a minute ago, he was already squaring his shoulders and half-lidding his eyes with a lofty air.
“It’s okay, but it could be better,” he said with a world-weary sigh. “We don’t get visitors much and there’s nothing to do... Are you gonna stay here long?”
For a moment, his try at regal facade was washed away and replaced with a genuine, eager hope. He didn’t feel very connected to his family – afraid, perhaps, of what being related to them would mean. Already he was getting the strange visions his mother suffered through, and he would find himself rousing in a different place and at a future time, unsure of his own actions while he’d been hallucinating. He hated to think of what had happened or what he’d done, but he thought if someone was nearby, they would at least watch out for him.

"I haven't decided yet," she said, pondering. "I do like to meet new Soquili, so its a shame they don't come around very much."
She seemed to realize something, looking around. "Say are your parents around? You're not going to get in trouble being all by yourself out here?"

“Then you should! It’s boring here, and it’d be nice to have someone new around,” Garland said with a huff. Few had ever denied him his wishes, and he was made blunt because of it. Subtlety and the complex art of persuasion were lost to him for he rarely needed to use such tactics, but he looked at her with a natural tilt to his head that made his eyes seem particularly large and imploring.
At her question, he shook his head in the negative and suspiciously peered over his shoulders.
“No. Why? Do you see anyone?” he asked, without doubt the absolute picture of innocence.

"Well, I'm at least going to stay for a while. It seems pleasant enough." She looked around at his question. "No, I don't see anyone. But its not often you see little foals running around without his parents. Just want to make sure you're not lost or something. Because if you were I totally would help you find your way home." She didn't want to think she intended to get him into trouble or anything, but she also didn't want him to think he should be embarrassed about asking for help.

”Good! We can play together, then!” Garland said, beaming. He seemed genuinely pleased to share her company, and apparently took her staying as a sign that she could be trusted, for his caution left along with his arrogance.
“You don’t look like the others around here, though! How come you look so weird?” he asked, with all the unabashed curiosity of youth. Her other comments had been ignored, but if she was staying, he supposed he had to answer. She looked big and fast, and she could easily follow him if she wanted to!
“I have adventures all the time!” he said, by way of explanation. Whether he was lost or not, though... well, he was sure he could find his way back. Some of the landscape would be recognizable eventually, if he walked long enough!
